Ive been here numerous times and theyre so good Ive started to feel guilty about not leaving a review so here it is: For the quality of fish, to the flavor profiles and presentation this place has earned 5 stars alone. Even simple fare like their mackerel roll(sweet pickled carrot) and white tuna nigiri (roasted garlic) have components that highlight their naturally delicious flavor. Just like any good sushi place turning over their inventory (so you have the freshest), their lunch prices are amazing for what you receive. The servers Ive seen have always been very helpful even if I or a guest has a special request or being a space cadet (which can be frustrating, if it annoyed them, I couldnt tell). Everything taken into account, this is the best sushi place Ive visited in Austin. Some other places Ive gone include : Maru, Sushi Nini(great american Japanese), Musashino (also great but looking at all parameters, Hanabi still has it beat), Beluga(only place I wouldnt go again, high prices/low quality), Roll on (great place for happy hour), Kome (also great but kind of a hectic dining experience, mostly due to popularity). Long story short, super happy Hanabi is here (almost hoping they are working towards a second location) because although Im still missing out on my California Burritos, I dont have to miss out on sushi and Im so lucky.

I have lunch at Hanabi regularly and I have always received top-notch food and service. It has an adorable interior, and all the wait staff and sushi chefs are very courteous. The lunch combo prices are in the $10-$17 dollar range, but it is well worth the price considering how much you get. The fish was fresh and the rolls were about 8-10 pieces. It also comes with a miso soup and ginger dressing salad. Very filling! Also, my friend has a sesame allergy and most of their foods didnt have sesame in them, and for anything that did they would let us know and were very accommodating about substitutions. I really enjoy the sushi sampler -- they change out what is on the sampler frequently, depending on what fish are available, and its a great way for someone who isnt super well-versed in fish (like me) to try out a bunch of really different ones, like amberjack, grunt, sea bream and otoro. I also really like the Spicy Zen Zen Roll, which is spicy tuna with avocado, topped with salmon, tempura crunch flakes and a spicy sauce.

Hanabi Sushi was a great experience. We came in on a Sunday afternoon while exploring and did not expect to have a happy hour, but lucked into it. The service was the best. Our server was attentive and inquisitive and landed us a great sumner roll off the happy hour I loved. My wife and I tried about 16 different pieces of sushi on special preceding the roll...the escolar was amazing, and the miso salmon and hamachi were delightful. I think a manager stopped by and checked on us and we were excited to relay how happy we were that Asahi was on tap...we ordered a 2nd beer each and he brought them out to us on the house. You can tell this place is interested in building bonds with people and take pleasure in seeing them happy. From the server to management to the chefs at the sushi bar in front of us, Hanabi really embraced the entire dining experience. Well be back regularly.

Youll find better tasting and more authentic Japanese food in the frozen section of your local supermarket. Walking in, I had high hopes of finally finding an Asian restaurant in North Austin that didnt have "deep fried" in front of every menu item. While that was mostly true at Hanabi, my satisfaction ended there. The person taking my order didnt know what some of the words meant on the menu, both the yaki udon and chicken were overcooked and covered in bbq sauce, the sushi roll was warm and mostly tasteless and Ill stop there. Lets not even talk about the bill as half price would not have made any difference for this review. If youve had Japanese food in any Western European city or cosmopolitan city in North America, be a friend to yourself and avoid this restaurant... Of course, this is only one persons opinion!

Weve been fans of Hanabi Sushi since it was at its old location (now primarily a Ramen/Bento place, which I have not tried yet), and we have been big fans of the Happy Hour specials, including Sunday HH. The quality has been consistently solid in our experience and the sushi/roll prices competitive. Just yesterday, though, we learned why they say they specialize in Omakase. While not inexpensive, the quality of the meal was pretty top notch and the fish fresh with an innovative selection of dishes, from divine white fin to snow crab, salmon sashimi topped with roe, and Anago, all presented beautifully and with impeccable service. We left feeling incredibly satisfied with our Omakase experience and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a special dining experience. Hanabi continues to be one of our favorites!

We went on a tour of the Sushi restaurants in the area for lunch specials over the course of a few months. Hanabi, I believe, is the best value out of all of the places we tried. Its quality was better than Ichiban and on par with DK Sushi. The lunch special and rolls available on it were reasonably priced and nice and tasty. And they serve it with a soup and salad as a bonus. The only lunch special that had a higher quality fish was Tomo, which ran $4-$8 more expensive and did not come with the salad component. Their bento boxes look good too. I hope this place sticks around, they should be doing a steady business for lunch and when we went, they were pretty empty (3-4 other diners). So go! Treat yourself to sushi for lunch and live the good life!

Tonight was my first time here and I am so very impressed! The wait staff have excellent customer service skills, the decor is beautiful and modern, the food is absolutely delicious, and for being so busy, I only had to wait about 7-9 minutes for my food tops! I ordered the Rainbow Roll with Miso Soup and it was excellent. It was fresh, tasty and the portions are just right for the price. When you are here, everyone takes care of you. I was approached by multiple people asking if I was okay, if I was enjoying my food and if I needed anything. Including the sushi chefs at the bar (As that is where I sat.) Overall I rate this place 10 stars if I could. I will be coming back again! And next time Ill bring friends :D

I was so happy to find a great sushi restaurant close to where I work. They offer a great variety of high quality lunch specials that feature sushi, seabass, teriyaki, etc. They also have great Korean food. The couple that run the restaurant are Korean, but that doesnt mean they dont make great Japanese food. Recommended for birthdays and evenings as well. They have a $7 Saki Bomb special where you can get a small saki and a beer for $7, thats a great deal. Plus the fish is always fresh! I come here on Mondays often and havent noticed a huge difference in quality over Thursdays. They use fresh shiso leaf which is my favorite!

If you stick to happy hour, youre going to be happy. Obviously. From 4:30 to 6:30: nigiri mostly under $2; $1 comforting miso soup; $5 - $6 discounted rolls. The Lucky roll was a favorite, and the flounder and scallop nigiri were divine. If you step outside of happy hour, there are some sweet sweet delights. We tried the tamari hotategai (grilled scallop) appetizer, because scallops are the diamonds of the sea. I wish itd been jucier, or accompanied with more citrusy flavor, but it was yummy nonetheless. The Foxy Lady was quite good, and came with its own dipping sauce.
