I am revising my original review due to extraordinarily good customer service that has occurred after the fact. In the end, they indeed take care of their customers. Yes, I did have one server who was probably brand new and did not know how to address the issue we had. However, the management at that location has since proactively made things right for us. Mistakes happen, but how they are addressed is what really matters, and in this case I am fully satisfied. I will be back - as I always maintained, the food is quite good! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Food was very good. Server was slow (nice, but slow). We were seated at 6:51PM, and placed orders for multiple happy-hour items. We literally used the happy hour menu and pointed out what we wanted to the waiter. After dining, we received a bill that was almost double what we were expecting. Our server said "oh yeah, sorry, I must have put the order in after 7PM." There was "nothing he could do" to fix the error, despite the receipt literally saying "6:51PM" at the top. We looked for a manager and couldnt find one. But I am still giving it 3 stars to be fair; the food is good, and the happy hour pricing is really good for some items (assuming you actually pay the correct pricing).

Sushi Zushi is a place where anyone can go for sushi...except maybe the connoisseurs. Im not very adventuresome with my sushi, but I do like to try new things, and Sushi Zushi has been a great restaurant to do just that. These are very Americanized rolls, so if you enjoy more authentic sushi, then this probably isnt the place for you, but I have always enjoyed the rolls that Ive ordered. The decor is okay. It does feel a little cramped inside, but Ive never had to wait for seating during lunch. During the spring, the large patio is just perfect. As for the service, its been inconsistent for me. Ive had a great server who obviously loved working at the place and knew exactly what I would like, but Ive also had servers who would disappear for long periods of time or who mixed up my check with that of another customer. Ive never had a terrible experience though. Its always been pleasant with the servers.

Happy hour (3pm-7pm daily) is a great deal here on rolls: Spicy Tuna Roll ($4): Pretty good preparation. Good size, too, with around 8 pieces. Spicy Salmon Roll ($4): Not too spicy, mainly tasted like salmon. Not that I minded, I love salmon. Crawfish Dynamite ($4.50): It comes out as a bowl of de-shelled crawfish immersed in a spicy mayo. Also pretty tasty. Key West Roll ($4): Shrimp tempura in a roll with some other stuff. This one was mostly just okay, but still good for the price. Also tried: Sukiyaki Udon ($14): Way overpriced for what you get. Not enough noodles, which is an odd thing to skimp on, though theyre pretty generous with the meat. It tastes good enough, though I prefer the places that serve thinner sliced meat for the sukiyaki. Torikatsu ($8): Solid rendition, though for some reason the fried breading really liked to fall off.

Been here many times enjoying great/creative rolls, sushi, and service. Came in today with 13 folks willing to take any configuration of seating including multiple tables. Also offered to sit at sushi bar which had more than ample seats available immediately for the entire group (not a single soul sitting at sushi bar) The host was extremely condescending and arrogant. Informed the party of 13 that there was no room at the inn and the wait was at least 30 minutes for all seats and configurations. SZ tables were less than 50% occupied. The host then seated a group of young ladies, his age, immediately. We relocated to PacificRim, just down the road, where the group was seated immediately, with fantasic service, coordinated by Sheila. Rolls, sushi, and all food was fantastic. An overall, great experience.

I only go to this place for happy hour now and only gotten sushi and drinks. I look at their regular menu and I think its way too pricey for what you get. Especially with competitors around town. Dont get me wrong, the sushi is delicious and the drinks are strong, but a date night here can get expensive really quick. A good way for me to compare this place is a little more expensive for good sushi compared to Kona where its cheaper but its not as good. I guess it depends on how my wallet feels that day is where my tummy will go. The service was average, our waiter got us what we needed but nothing stellar to brag about. I wouldnt go out of my way to come here, but after a little shopping or before a movie, this place would make an ideal happy hour date.

I love this place. The menu is huge and the food is really pretty fantastic. The mussels dynamite, crawfish dynamite, lir roll, lincoln roll, squid seaweed salad are my faves. While this is definitely Japanese food, many of the items have a unique Southwestern twist (like my faves above) in that theyre a little bit spicy. The drinks are good and theres a wide variety of cocktails and sakes. My only complaint about Sushi Zushi is the environment. Its modern, but very very noisy and difficult to carry on conversations in. The decor is clean and plain and I think could be warmer. Still Id recommend to almost anyone (even non-sushi eaters) and the happy hour is a particularly good deal.

I once told myself I would never give a sushi place 1 stars.. And then I came here. As a Google local guide level 4, I already knew it was only a 3.9 out of 5, so I was skeptical but wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, heres how it broke down: Went for a friends birthday, we got there at 6:30, didnt get our food until 9:40 - over 3 hours of waiting for food? Umm no thanks, if I wanted to wait for food for 3 hours I would have gone to Franklins. Service was sub par, sushi is overpriced. I would recommend sushi zushi to someone that is visiting Austin that likes sushi, and that thinks I like them.. but I actually dont. That about sums it up.

Visited on March 3rd on Friday night. The food was great. If youre looking for a sushi restaurant that has a lot of American influence, this is a place to go. However, look for else where if youre looking for something really authentic. The server was tall black female and she was terrible as a waitress. -She was not friendly -She dropped a plate on my shoulder and spilled food right next to me but didnt apologize for the incident -She didnt ask about how we liked our food. She almost ruined my restaurant experience and dinner. I want the management to talk and let her know that kind of behavior is unacceptable.
