I had mixed feelings about my first (and only) visit here. After a cold, gray, drizzly day of touring campus, this place looked like it would hit the spot. Unfortunately, it didnt. When you walk in, you know it is definitely a university hangout for studying, homework, and just vegging, which is great. I decided on a dirty chai (hot because I was cold) and for the 12oz size it came to almost $6?! I was honestly taken aback. I have had many a dirty chai and for the small size it is usually under or around the $4 mark. The only time I have paid $5 for a dirty chai was when it was blended with TWO shots. Which brings me to my other sort of "ummmok?" thing about this place...they dont have a blender, so you cannot get blended drinks. The barista informed me its because they are not Starbucks and with the noise level of blenders it would harsh the places mellow vibe. Ok, I get that and its fine, except for I could get a much better dirty chai (the chai had absolutely no flavor to it) at Starbucks for about $1.50 less, blended. But, maybe dirty chai isnt their "gig". So why the 3-stars? The service saved this place from the 2-star bottom of the barrel. Both of the baristas were very nice and accommodating and though I did not enjoy my chai, the free mocha latte we ended up getting (the barista made this by mistake instead of the hot chocolate my friend ordered) was delicious, well made, and the foam art was amazing! I dont ever see myself coming back here again, but I always like to experience the local vibe and I definitely got that at this campus location.

The perfect distance to walk my dog... sit for half an hour in the Austin late afternoon sun... get great cup of whatever looks good... they feed treats to dog... big fan. Cafe Medici was actually recommended to me by my former boss from Houston who deciding upon a career change at 50 thought it would be a great idea to open a coffee shop. When I was visiting two times ago and asked him what it was going to be like, he whipped out the Cafe Medici card and said that he wanted the feeling to be like it. When I went back to Houston last time, he asked me if I had visited Medici. I had not. I think he almost tried to fight me. I decided upon my return to visit. Very glad I did... especially since this reduces the risk of being punched by someone twice my age the next time I go to Houston.

Medici exudes pretentiousness, from the was they spell "cafe" and the way they inflect "Medici" (the accent is on the first syllable) to the ridiculously uncomfortable chairs on the upper level. Its almost like they dislike their customers. Nevertheless, its the closest cup of joe to the southwest side of UT so it does alright for itself. Costs aside, I find their regular coffee to be on the acidic side. If youre gonna go, stick to their morning fares: breakfast tacos (despite having dropped Taco Deli like theyre hot--something for which I still have not forgiven Caffe Medici--the Fresas tacos are good) and Quacks pastries. Pro tip: If you are on the drag and you want Taco Deli breakfast tacos, head to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

I think I may be cursed. I went in here a few weeks ago, and ordered a macchiato. When I tried to pay, the barista told me their card machine wasnt working. There was no sign, and no one warned me before taking my order. They gave it to me for free, which was very very nice, but acted really annoyed that I didnt magically know they werent taking cards, which was not so nice. I went in again last week to get a hot chocolate, and as the barista was making it, the tap on the beer just... fell off and started pouring all over the floor. Maybe you will have better luck, but Im not sure Ill return cause I dont want to break the place.

One of my TAs used to have his office hours at this location, so I went there quite often one semester. Its a lovely coffee shop and has two levels in it. The upper level is kinda dark and the lower equally bright. They have soy milk and organic milk options which Starbucks doesnt always have, so thats a plus. Their coffee is a tad overpriced but thats probably because its located at such a prime spot. You can always smell their coffee as you pass the shop by on your way to work or class. The staff is friendly. The shop also sells local products like Juicelands quirky juices.

First off, I want to say that I do enjoy coming to this spot. I love the ambiance and customer service is decent. They really need to improve their house blend. Any time I go to a coffee shop I usually get a café au lait but I cant have it here because the coffee taste old and burnt. It kind of ruins the experiance of this Italian style caffe. I would expect a great house blend that exemplifies their signature flavors and overall body value. This is why I gave 3 stars intead of 5. House blend makes all the differance!!

Cafe Medici is my favorite coffee spot in Austin. All 3 locations are unique and cozy in their own way. The baristas are really friendly and take their time with each drink. Many times when I have stopped by in the afternoon they have brewed me a fresh batch of coffee, no questions asked. They really care about quality. Also, the internet is consistent here and they have bright lighting. Very easy to concentrate here. Every time I come to Medici its like a breath of fresh air.

Cafe Medici really emulates the Italian cafe experience. The quality and taste of the espresso and cappuccino is superb. Great place to study and enjoy an espresso with a pastry. What is unique of Medici is unlike typical American cafes, they serve sparkling water with the espresso to cleanse the palate as is traditional in Italy. For Austin, this cafe deserves a 5 out of 5!

I sought shelter from a pop up storm in the Cafe Medici on the Drag and was greeted with warmth from both the staff and the coffee. This place is decorated in a sleek minimalist style accented with brushed steel and dark hardwood accents with a little nod to the Spartan; however, dont let the post-modern feel run you off because it is indeed a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Overpriced coffee, poor snack selection, very little parking, moderately friendly staff, but lots of seating available. Probably not the best place to meet your boss for coffee , but a good place for students that dont mind paying $5 for a prepared drink. Tea and drip coffee are avaialable, and probably the only affordable items in this place.

Café Medici is a really good place to treat yourself to some good coffee an conversation with friends. All the drinks are delicious. It is slightly higher than Starbucks prices, but worth it. There is also a cool lounge/loft area upstairs. Its location on the Drag and near campus is convenient too. You should definitely check this place out.

2 story coffeehouse!! The live comedy nights here are fantastic. Theyre in the upstairs part, so the "coffee shop noises" dont get in the way. In terms of espresso drinks, they are well made, and delicious. I recommend stopping by if youre near West Campus and the Drag area! This area is getting "gentrified," too, so its not all bad!!
