My teenage son was craving sushi rolls last night so we decided to head to Tullahomas Yamato instead of our local Yamato Japanese restaurant in Manchester. We discussed the major differences between the two during the ending of our meal and we came to the unanimous decision that Manchesters Yamato is 10xs better. Despite the rolls being better at Yamato Tullahoma due to the options available and quality of ingredients, the rest of it was subpar. At Tullahomas Yamato: I could only taste the carrots in the ginger sauce, my sons shrimp so over cooked it was rubber and they left the shells on some of them (it ruined his appetite, never finished his meal), my udon noodles were not even cooked all the way through and they were well over seasoned (too salty). Actually, everything on my plate was too salty but since I was paying the price, I ate my rubbery scallops. I understand things like this happen but after communicating this to the waitress (she seemed to be the only one serving, hard to get her attention), the only offer she made was to make sure to let the cook know our concerns. Again when she came back to our table later on she reiterated that she would communicate our objections to the preparation and quality of our meals. I flat out told her our meals were inedible. Please note that I glad fully paid for the extra cost of substituting udon noodles instead of fried rice and never raised a voice, became angry or irritated, and tipped the waitress pretty decent considering our meals were wicked gross. But we will never go back. The roll we had last night was good. Thats it. It wasnt that good as to where we wont give it a second thought the next time we get a craving to visit our local Yamato or head up to Murfreesboro. Manchesters Yamato rolls are good but they do not have the eclectic selection my son enjoys and Cathys in the Boro has banging awesome rolls.

This place is rubbish! I phoned in a carry out order, and arrived 15 minutes later at a slow period. I still had to wait almost 20 minutes in the lobby. I guess they were going to make sure I arrived before wasting any of the cheap fare they shamefully foist off on a rural public that is mostly uninformed on what real Japanese food is supposed to be. I love authentic yakisoba! My first time ordering from here I get the beef yakisoba. I am expecting grilled beef, teriyaki style, with veggies and yakisoba noodles. Yakisoba is flat pan fried buckwheat noodles. What I found in my to go tray was regular semolina spaghetti, drowning in that nasty generic brown sauce you find in every other dish on a cheap "Chinese" buffet. The vegetables were mushy, and there were these slimy grey slivers that I guess were supposed to be beef. I spat out the first bite and trashed the rest. It was a flavor and texture nightmare. For all you local yokels that think you know sushi, keep bragging about Yamato. As long as you keep to the rural route, you will never experience authentic Japanese cuisine, and wont be ashamed to frequent an albatross such as Yamato.

I only gave one star due to the fact I cannot write a review without one. My party and I ordered appetizers, habachi, and soft drinks. The miso soup was great, but I cannot tell you anything else. Waited for over an hour for just sushi. Sent it back because we felt like we couldnt trust it after all that time. After all that time we requested our checks. The waitress kept telling us it was almost ready. When it got to the table I had scallops, but they forgot about the steak. She took the plate back, scraped half of the scallops off the plate, and tried to give it back to me STILL WITHOUT THE STEAK! I cancelled my order and sent it back. I will NEVER return or recommend this place to ANYONE!

Awful service. Owner needs some help. Our waiter was extremely rude. Sushi was left sitting out with all the other hot food. Inedible. Not once did he apologize for his awful service. We came in around 12:15 pm and sat in the right corner of the restaurant... Owner should see this and take disciplinary action to this waiter. We asked for napkins, he said no. He brought out Diet Pepsi when we asked for regular. He was very very slow. Do not come here until they fix their issues. They also charged more than what was on their menu because it was Mothers Day. How greedy can one be? Also the owners child was sitting behind the register. Shes like 5... How UNPROFESSIONAL.

I come here every time I come to Tennesee to visit my family which is 2-3 times a year, my relatives are monthly customers and the staff is very polite and recognize us every time we come in which makes it feel welcoming, weve made alot of memories there, thanks to the loose feel-good atmosphere. The food is great! We always order calimary and the onion soup for apitizers and its some of the best. I almost always get a bento box, which for the money, is very good quality and adds a more diverse selection instead of just blandly ordering sushi. Overall defiantly try this place!!

Absolutely the best place in Manchester, TN (home of Banaroo) to eat! I highly recommend the Yamato roll which I just cant get enough of. I even eat the leftover slices for breakfast! The Shrimp Tempura is to die for as well. Dont forget the plum wine. I like it when the waitresses wave at me when I enter the doors. That tells it all. I love this place! Luwin Lewis of Manchester

I wish I didnt have to give a star at all. Food had hair in it then manager proceeds to come to our table with the hair and give an explanation of the hair. Like I care that the piece of hair had hair color on it, the fact that it was in my food to begin with was uncalled for. Do not eat her the manager/owner is pathetic

A co-worker and I went there for dinner. We are coming from out of town and we felt it would be a good place to eat. The waiters are nice, as a matter of fact everyone was nice. The food was great! Only recommendation would be to do a bit of maintenance to the place, but other than that we enjoyed our visit.

Placed my order for pickup, paid almost $40 for it. After waiting almost 45 minutes in an empty restaurant I finally got it. Got it home the food is BLAND, as in very unflavorful. Like frozen asian from krogers tastes way better Im highly disappointed!

Every time I visit which is often I have a very pleasant experience. Yamato may not be the absolute best Japanese restaurant to hit the block but for a small town like Tullahoma it gets the job done.

Although the other reviewer has their towns mixed up (Tullahoma IS NOT Manchester. It is much better) everything they said is true. This place is great.

The food is generally good, especially for a small town like Tullahoma. The wait can sometimes be long and the wait staff can leave a lot to be desired.
