HWY 55 South is a traditional good ole fashion greasy hamburger that anyone would love. I am not sure why anyone would go to Sonic (which is next door) when you could sit down and get great service and even better burgers. The service was one of the main reasons I wanted to write this review. Freda, a waitress there, was super friendly and treated us as family. When going to a fast food style burger joint you dont expect to receive the type of service that HWY 55 south provides. This is the type of place you want to bring your kids to after their baseball game and treat them to one of HWY 55s shakes.

This is by far the best hamburgers from any place in the area. You are able to get them with almost any topping you can think of from fried onions or mushrooms to chili. Dont forget to try a milkshake as they are well worth getting also!! The service is fast and friendly and always offering drinks to go. I love going to this place as it has a very relaxing 50s vibe with great service and food.

Food cold, fries were old, service was extremely slow, customers were ignored, one customer left after waiting for at least 10 minutes without ever having any staff person ever speak to her, wait person interrupted taking care of a customer to get something for another customer that could have waited until she was finished

The Andy cheeseburger made Carolina style was amazing! Taste like a gourmet burger but at diner pricing! Our server Lauren was such a sweet young lady, and constantly checking on us! Nice little hidden gem. Check it or when you can and dont forget the orangeaid and custard

I was actually pretty surprised with the burgers and ice cream here. If you want a good diner-style burger with some grease, this is the place for you. Ice cream was really smooth and flavorful as well. Chili cheese fries werent good though. Will return for sure.

Been sitting outside for 20 minutes and clearly see activity inside. Gee, wonder if you can get food at this place? Clearly I cant go inside with a pet. Maybe these tables, chairs, and overhead fans are for people who get a to go meal at Sonic.

Not sure what happened since it has some good reviews. Didnt want to finish my meal. Chicken Philly was super salty. Lemonade was suger water with a shot of fresh lemon juice. Everything else was just bland. Cool atmosphere and experience.

The food and custard is pretty good, but if they are anywhere close to busy (half full or more) the service is chaotic and slow. Seems like there isnt a very well organized structure so the servers are called in to do way too much if its busy.

Good food in a fun atmosphere. Sit down restaurant with waitresses. Food is mostly burgers and sandwiches. The kids get a scoop of ice cream with their choice of toppings and their food comes in a cardboard car. Super cute and good food too!

Love this place, really amazing shakes & homemade ice cream. The lemonade is freshly squeezed & to die for. The onion rings are great & I order the cheesesteak or the shrimp every time. Great portions but a but pricey for a burger joint.

The ambiance and atmosphere were great. Love the retro burger joint. The John Boy and Billy chicken sandwich could have been better ... it was just a fried chicken sandwich with hardly any"grillin" sauce to be found.

Very good burgers and shakes. Friendly service. 1950s atmosphere.This is a fun place to take kids because their kids meals come in a little cardboard classic car. And they get ice cream with the meal. Great experience!

Ouch. 40 minute wait to get drinks(and they werw qrong). Manager is not concerned about it either. Food is average, but service is really bad unless youre the only one here.
