Pfunky Griddle could be such a great spot. The pros of this restaurant are the ambiance, location, and concept. However, the cons far outweigh those small benefits. The value per dollar is ridiculously horrible. Firstly, you are paying $7 per head for all-you-can-eat pancake batter with one topping (literally a 1/4 cup plastic ramekin, in my case with FROZEN blueberries). This included topping is not refillable without paying an additional $1.50. So essentially, you are getting somewhere between 4-8 pancakes with topping and then all-you-can eat plain the rest of the meal. Lets not even talk about how hard it is to cook a proper pancake with FROZEN blueberries in the batter on a griddle that has no heat control...... On top of all of these overpriced cheap ingredients then you have to deal with inconsistent service. There are some great waiters at this place, unfortunately I was privy to a server who accomplished the following feats: delivered creamer with large curds and chunks which had to be replaced, did not turn on the griddle so we had to wait even longer once we received our batter, delivered a specialty coffee from their menu and asked the person at our table if the drink "looked right because no one knew how to make it in the back", on a roughly $24 bill payed for with a $50 brought us first $15 in change, then said he rang up the wrong bill and brought us $20 in change, then after a lesson in math from myself, brought us back $21 in change and we at that point just left with what we had and told him he could re-coup his tip from the difference in the bill since he could not do simple math 3 times in a row. Here are some more amazing prices to consider: 1 egg for $1.50 or 2 eggs for $2.25: remember kids you have to crack and cook your own eggs with no sink to wash your hands :) 3 pieces of country bacon for $3: luckily this is cooked but a shocking price per piece in my mind 2 pieces of sausage for $3: again, crazy mark-up for cheap quality ingredients My advise to anyone considering this restaurant is to check it our yourself and then never go there again. There are great places to eat in Nashville. For an average price of $15-20 per person you can have a much more upscale and appropriate breakfast in town. Establishments like this need to be weeded out by discerning consumers. In this economy it is adapt or become extinct. This restaurant is a travesty in quality, cleanliness, service, and value. With so many local and seasonal ingredients available the fact that they are serving stuff that is on par with EconoLodge free breakfast needs to have repercussions in terms of their revenue.

I heard good things about the pfunky griddle, but having been there myself today, I strongly disagree. Needless to say, I do not plan to be spending any more money there. I knew that the tables had their own grills, but I had no idea they dont cook the food for you at the table. When I found out I had to cook the food, I was a little taken back, obviously, why in the world am I paying you the amount equivalent to something like iHop if you dont even cook it for me?? That just seems insane to me. However, even after knowing this I tried to keep an open mind; but as the breakfast continued that became increasingly difficult. Here is why: the restaurant was filthy including the grill, the plate they brought had crumbs on it, the waiter never came back to refill my glass once we started eating, the grill wouldnt get hot enough to cook the food properly and took forever for the french toast, I brought up the issue to the waiter and he basically said thats just how it was, when the waiter brought the bacon out (the only thing they cooked) it was hanging off the plate and he sat it on the table so that half of the meat was actually sitting directly on the table (disgusting!!! if my friend hadnt been there I would have probably walked out at that point), the tables were placed so closely that I was like two inches from the person sitting behind me, the chairs themselves were rickety, wobbly, and too low in comparison to the table, I actually had to stand so that I could reach the grill well enough to cook and Im about average in height for a woman, and to top all of that off, they wouldnt accept a coupon my friend brought because it was a holiday, what?! Who does that! The only positive thing about going there was that I got to hang out with a friend and have some girl talk. The food itself wasnt bad, but it wasnt anywhere near as good as what they charged for it, especially since they dont even cook it for you. Do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant. Go down the road to iHop or Dennys, or for that matter, even Waffle House would be a step up in most locations.

Stopped by on our way back to Colorado from South Carolina, and its a really cute idea, cooking food at your own table, and the staff was very friendly and we really appreciated that they had a special griddle for us, we have Celiac, and we loved that they had gluten free options. Unfortunately the gluten free pancakes were not worth it. No flavor except for the toppings, and the texture was awful and gritty. Eggs, bacon, sausage were all as expected, nothing special. The potatoes, though, were really very good, lots of flavor, and the blueberries for the pancakes were fresh and juicy. But because of the allergen griddle being a different one than the one in the table, it didnt get hot enough and it took forever for our food to cook, 30 minutes is a long time for an egg, not to mention most of the egg slid off the griddle because it didnt start cooking for awhile even though the griddle was set as high as possible. And lastly, cleaning is clearly not top priority. It is a very old looking building and is quite full often from what it seems, but the griddles didnt seem to get that big of a cleaning and the rest of the building really wasnt very clean. The AC unit has a serious dust build up. Overall, it was essentially a cook your own breakfast with OK ingredients. Probably not something we would ever visit again, but fun for the time we did. Our 2 year old son definitely loved helping us cook.

I like the concept, but I think it could be better executed. We went on a Saturday and arrived around 11am. They said the wait would be around 45-60 minutes so we walked down the street and stopped in a few shops to kill some time. We ended up waiting about 65 minutes to get a table. They do not have a large waiting area, so we waited outside - fortunately the weather was nice enough. We ordered pancakes with 2 toppings and each of us ordered a side of meat (bacon, ham, etc.). It took at least 20 minutes to get the pancake batter and toppings brought to us, which seems long considering the food isnt cooked. Like others have mentioned, for being a pancake restaurant, the limited number of batter and syrup options is disappointing. I also felt like the amount of toppings you get is pretty small, I dont know if you can ask for more or not. It was $30 for two people to have pancakes, a side of meat each, one water and one milk. Seems expensive considering you have to cook your own food. I think children or families might have fun with it, but for me it just didnt seem worth the wait.
