I love this place! Ive been coming to this tiny jewel for coffee since the nineties (I think). I think its changed owners a couple of times and definitely staff, but they seem to have worked out beautifully. Most recently it was purchased by the owner of star bagel, another delicious place. Initially i did not like the change. A lot of the character was taken away and they changed the menu and music (terrible easy listening), but fortuitously, he gave management over to someone else( I was told it was his sister, i cant verify it) who picked up the dropped ball and turned this place around! The menu is fuller than in the old days, but they kept a lot of the old favorites. The coffee and food are great, but the real reason to come here is the atmosphere. They also fixed a long time problem- the hours of operation, for years they closed and opened at odd times and i would be disappointed after arriving only to see the lights off at six pm. Now they seem more standardized. All in all still one of my favorite places in Nashville. Great service- the servers are fun and helpful. The manager even made me fresh dressing one day when the kind i wanted for my salad was out. Also great porch!!! And free wifi. Its a public site that reaches into their dining area. A little slow, but works as good as cafe coco. The drinks are a little pricy, but, the lunch foods arent too bad. Reasonable priced fresh made salads. Plus they carry star bagel bagels now!

Unless you are in your twenties and weight less than 120 pounds, you will quickly figure out this place is not for you. Meaning, not only is the physical space tiny with no place to stand in line or move around, the service seems to be a privilege (that is if you get any at all). My first visit was to the drive through, which was very satisfying and pleasant. My second visit inside was an entirely different experience. Not only was I overcharged for an item that was included with the meal, the smarmy cashier argued with me about it, and then conferred with the other cashier. Then, both argued with me. It was clear by the menu that I was being overcharged. This was all during a busy lunch time with people waiting to order. It was embarrassing that I had to nearly demand the money back-- it was not offered. I am normally a pretty easy going person until poor service is delivered as if I asked for it. The reason this review rates Sam & Zoes with two stars and not one, are the cooks and the drive through. The food is quite tasty, but not worth another fifteen dollar lunch to me.

This place is definitely not the same. We all found out recently that there is yet ANOTHER new owner taking over. However, its probably not a bad thing. The old owner was incredibly rude not only to customers but also to his staff. One of my best friends worked there and she is one of the sweetest people ever, but that place really affected her attitude and the way she treated people, its wearing when you are treated like crap everyday and can not even get a designated break which is required by law. This place should be turned in for how the employees are treated....the service everyone would get would be a lot better if the employees were treated better.I hope everything works out for the new owners, but they do have a lot of work on their hands. This is a great community and a great asset was taken from it once the star bagel owner took over. And I also heard that a few of the most prized employees that still remain there will also be leaving shortly, good luck with that, they are the only good things left about the place.

Not a local but felt welcome here. Showed up outside of peak hours and didnt have any parking issues that others have. Nice atmosphere on the inside showcasing to sell art. The coffee was good, not blown away but would suggest over a coffee chain. Cuban was a smooth drinking choice, more creamy than bold or sweet. The Honey Bee was too sweet for my liking but did taste like honey, not cheap sweeteners. I would definitely put this as a suggested drink if you like sweet coffee drinks rather than bold ones. Breakfast bagel was nothing fancy but good. The Californian, per my wife, was very good with the flavors meshing well and the bagle was perfect being crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. The Banana Wrap had good flavors and wasnt dry like so many others are. Definitely enjoyed it. Oatmeal didnt have anything special to it.

I usually love going to Sam and Zoes for the service and good coffee, however; today was a disappointing experience. After circling the block 3 times looking for parking (while losing a spot twice to rude drivers with smaller cars) I gave up and tried the drive through. This was the first time trying this and did not know it was call ahead. The girl who came to the window informed me of this. I said sorry, I didnt know and I had been trying to find parking but was unsuccessful. All she said was "sorry". There were no cars behind me and someone with good customer service would have taken my order no problem. I left and went across to the Juice Bar...which was healthier for me anyway.

After years of getting food and drinks from Sam & Zoe’s a couple times a week, I’m done with it. Many of my friends and reviewers at different sites have commented about the rudeness of the staff and I’ve noticed it and tolerated it because of convenience to my office. But today I had a very bad experience with the owner being rude to me for no reason and I don’t want to do business with someone like that. As a business owner myself, I would think customer comments about staff rudeness would influence an owner’s behavior but I now see why it doesn’t. Change has to start at the top and that’s obviously not happening.

sam and zoes support recycling, which is a plus for me from the start... their smoothies are amazing made with fresh fruits which is given away by the first sip. they also offer additions to the smoothies like flax, and protien. Another plus, being that my vegetarian diet is lacking some nutrients. If you go here, you will love it im sure! quick and easy service, offer free wifi for most of the day, and the dirty chai latte is the best in nashville... for sure! hope this review helped you! enjoy great coffee!

Good food, but unfriendly service. The food is very good and has a great price for organic, local food. There are a few items that could use some tweaking, but most everything Ive bought has been very good. My only complaint is all but maybe 2 staffers Ive encountered are not too friendly (no hello, no thank you, goodbye, no smile). Parking is horrible from about 11:45-1 to the point where Ive had to find some place else to eat several times due to parking, but I know not much can be done about that.

Really love this place. It is down the street from my work and I like to occasionally pick up coffee on my way in or just get a break from the office. The coffee is always good, although sometimes a little slow when they get really busy. The decor is very different from a Starbucks/Panera, and I like that. They have local artwork and eclectic furniture which feels comfortable to me.
