Coffee is roasted and prepared well. However, pour-overs (single cup, chemex, siphon, etc) are at a side bar. If the person in front of you ordered one, you have to wait until theyre done. Its a "teaching" moment for the customer which sounds all nice until theyve got multiple people and then youre just standing there waiting to wait to make your coffee. Its better to do them at home than to come here. Also, ordering a tea resulted in a huffy pointing over at the selection by the guy at the register. If you dont want customers to buy tea, then dont offer it. No reason to act haughty because someone didnt want what you think they should. Finally, while there, a guy in running clothes came in and walked behind the counter to make himself a drink. No consideration given to the customers in line, everyone had to wait longer for this employee/owner/VIP to get HIS coffee. Didnt pay, just budged, never washed hands, and touched all the drink prep stuff while being sweaty and inconsiderate. Overall thoughts are that they should pay more attention to the customer like they seem to do with their roasting. Or maybe just focus on roasting coffee and let more savvy coffee shops use their beans.

When these guys first opened, their coffee wasnt quite on the level. Service and ambience were top notch, but their roasts still left something to be desired. That has all changed now, and I would put them, at least the last few roasts Ive had, on that top tier with Intelligensia, Counter Culture, etc. If you love the pour-overs from Barista Parlor, come here and get that level of quality for HALF THE PRICE, and from the very people who did the roasting themselves right here in Nashville. The staff is very into what they do, are well-informed, and never snobby. If youre in a hurry they have you covered too - with coffee already brewed, or they can whip up a drink with as much haste as anybody. But if youre willing to wait for a made from scratch pour over its definitely worth it.

My go to place for beans to feed my espresso machine. Not perfect due to slight consistency issues but not sure Nashville has a better roaster than this one either. Ill give them five stars when they start putting "roasted on" dates on their bags of beans. Crema easily fell from their first place spot to these guys IMO. Started with their staple, sunflower espresso, and have moved to French Occupation which seems to be more stable. Both good but without dates on the bags I cant determine how much is variation in time consumed from the roast dates. French Occupation is quite good lately - almost tempted to say delicious. Any discussion or suggestions amongst espresso snob brethren is definitely welcome...

Great, great experience! Girl up front took the time to answer several questions for me - I was buying a pour over/Clever coffee dripper. She took extra time to provide some counsel on preferred grind for this particular device, and brewing instructions based on her experience, versus what was simply on the box. Even offered to make me a cup to ensure I got the nuance of the technique. Sent me home with a sample of coffee grounds to compare granularity with different settings of my grinder at home. Could not have been more pleased...who offers this level of service??? Ridiculous. Boom!

Eight and Roast is a lovely quaint coffee shop nestled along other local businesses in the 8th avenue district. I had a tastey mocha and the service with quite quick compared to many of the other local coffee shops in town. The atmosphere is full of positive energy, productive, and pretty quiet considering the small space. As this unique coffee shop gets more business, I would only see the opportunity for more space to accommodate the influx of coffee lovers in the music city!

Absolutely my favorite coffee in town, but not my favorite coffee shop, and thats mostly due to parking. Flavorful, brewed in many different ways, and generally different than a place that just slings coffee from a cutely-labeled coffee container. Ive liked this place since it was Roast Inc, sadly I never have enough time in the morning to make it down and grab coffee. I really wish they had a pull-up spot just for throwing coffee to you.

Enjoyed the coffee and breakfast biscuit. It was sausage and egg. The eggs look kind of creepy and I was concerned about ordering it because it looked less real than an egg mcmuffin, but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Kind of the strange rubbery consistency of baked eggs, only creamier. It was weird, but I would definitely order again! Maybe they can work on appearance a little bit :)

This place is great if youre an early morning person. Only coffee shop around that opens before 7 am and its nice and quiet. Their coffee is definitely quality and theres lots of options for different types of roasts and pours. The baristas are super friendly and helpful with picking out coffee. PLUS - no crazy loud coffee house music.

Awesome Place! We were visiting from out of town and did a search for coffee roasters and found Eighth and Roast. They roast their beans in house and bake their own goods. Some of the best coffee Ive ever had. I definitely recommend this place.

Favorite coffee spot in Nashville... phenomenal coffee (especially the iced Nitro blend) at a reasonable price. Marginally cheaper than other gourmet coffee spots in downtown area. Great atmosphere, ample seating, and good vibes.

Fantastic classic coffee place. I havent had the food yet but the coffee is dependably good. Their turn around is quick which is great if youre in your way to work. Seating is oddly communal but I dont mind it.

The cortado con leche was delicious! The right balance of sweet and bitter for a refreshing, morning drink. Also, the iced mocha tastes similar to an artisan Almond Joy in coffee form.

Barista was very helpful in getting me to try something new and different from my norm. Honey Lavender Latte was simply scrumptious. A really amazing flavor.

I have only ever tried their beans, and they are superb. Great staff and atmosphere. Parking is limited and a bit difficult, but dont let that deter you.

Fantastic coffee with a nice urban atmosphere. However, the woman taking our order seemed annoyed we were taking a minute to look at the menu.
