This was a terrible experience from beginning to end. We were here for my nephews graduation, and our dinner here turned a lovely day into a stressful, frustrating evening. The service was horrendous, the manager was EXTREMELY rude, and so was the server. We had 17 people in our party, at three tables, and each tables order was taken separately (leaving to place each one in the computer before taking the next tables order) and served with their food 10 minutes apart. Then, they put all 17 people in our party on one ticket and told us to go to the front to pay. After the last table ate and paid (one line to checkout), they then accused us of not paying them for $7 worth of our aggregate meal, although none of us (at the third and last table to be served) had these extras (which they admitted), he proceeded to verbally assault us, exclaiming that it was unfair that people ate food they didnt pay for. We explained that we werent at that table and couldnt be expected to know what each person at another table had, especially if the server who placed the order didnt know. Further, we asked for separate tickets and were denied, so wed made every attempt to avoid such a situation. The managers attitude, decorum, and overall people skills were reprehensible, and he should not manage a lemonade stand, much less a rrestaurant. I will NEVER visit this restaurant or any affiliated chain again. Thats how bad it was. If you want to be treated with respect and like your money matters, I implore you not to patronize this place. Ive traveled all over the world, and Ive never been treated with such disdain, indifference, and unveiled disrespect.

At least I didnt get montezumas revenge.. so heres what I experienced so hopefully you dont waste your time and money as well. First the staff wasnt overly nice, but thats no problem so long as they deliver the goods. So we placed our order, ane voila our two dinners arrived maybee two minutes later.. red flag.. only a microwave on high can cook that fast. Which leeds me to suspect that they prep dinners and cold store them and when ordered. Ding, its done. Sure enough the plate was 400 degrees, second sign of a microwave dinner. I still wanted it to be good because I was so hungry. Well, my first bite was even lower than my low expectations. The rice is just awfull.. I mean really bad, it tastes like soggy dishwater. I had to take another small bite actually to make sure it really was as bad as my tongue said. Not ok. The burrito verde was not good, but at least I was able to eat it. It didnt take long however as it was rather small for a 10 dollar dish. Salsa tastes like pace picante. I think these jokers might just be microwaving wal mart preped food and giving it to stupid unsuspecting gringos.. save yourself the trouble and go somewhere with real food. Or just buy a hungry man microwave dinner..

I order take out from this restaurant almost every week. The food is amazing, its always hot. The price is reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the location is in a nice area especially if you live in Lenox Village area. Its super convenient. For the few times Ive dined in, Ive never had a problem. Last thing Ill add is its great being recognized as a regular customer. One time I forgot my wallet when I came in to pick up my take out. Since they recognized me, the man told me I could pay back next time. I ended up paying back later that same day. It was really sweet of him, I cant remember his name though. I think he might be the manager, hes always at the register.

I go there routinely during lunch. The food is good, hot and fast. The price is the best part; its the only place left I know of where you can get a decent sized lunch *including* drink and tax for under $5.00. (Not always, but often their daily lunch special will include the drink and be under $5). Most of the wait staff appear to be Mexican, perhaps not all comfortable with speaking English, so you may not get the friendly smile and greeting you expect from a Cracker Barrel, for example. Thats OK by me, as Im usually there for lunch break and just want fast, good, cheap food.

I live in the Bradford Hills neighborhood very near "the hat". I usually call in an order to pick up and take home. They always have my order ready fast and the food has always been very good. I have eaten at the restaurant as well and the service was fast and friendly. The seating area is not very large, so I have sometimes had to wait for a table, but usually no more than 5-10 minutes. An interesting quirk - whoever built their booths misspelled the name of the restaurant as "El Sonbrero". Highly recommended.

El lugar es bien bonito, de los más bonitos restaurantes mexicanos que he visitado recientemente en el pais. La comida podía estar mejor sin embargo. Buena atención, amable personal. Decoración tipica de buen gusto. Buen estacionamiento.

Amazing. Hands down the best service ever and the food is inexpensive! All though would not recommend to (not racist at all, just trying to save u some mixed orders :D) any race that doesnt understand Spanish a good amount.doesnt need to be perfect, just okay. But anyways the food is amazing especially the burrito California ! Food is hot and fast and everyone is so friendly! If you see a guy named Carlos, say that you saw a review that told u to say hi!

Pro: the restaurant is close and our food came to us quickly. Our server was adequate. He did mess up our drink order but it wasnt a big deal and he didnt linger too long. Cons: the taste, or lack thereof. My husband and I split a fajita dish and it didnt have any flavor. The most flavorful thing we had was the queso dip. Skip this place and get a cheaper tastier taco at Taco Bell.

We love this place and come here about once a week with our little boy (who loves their chips and salsa). Its family-friendly, fun, cozy atmosphere and solid food. Granted, this is Americanized Mexican, but its really tasty. Also, be sure to take advantage of happy hour Sun-Thurs! Dos Equis draft for under $2? Por favor...

What a SCAM. I ordered cheese dip and salsa to-go, and the bill was $16.20. Are you kidding me?! I would understand if the salsa and cheese dip were larger and had gold nuggets in the bottom, but theres not special about either. Waste of money. Any other Mexican restaurant would suffice.

We live in Lenox Village just across the street from El Sombrero, and frequent the place. The servers are always friendly, the food is great, and you cant beat the price. Our family of 4 usually eats dinner for around $20 (tamales, enchiladas or burritos, and quesadillas for the kids).

My boss had the whole department to his home in Cool Springs for dinner. His wife had ordered the meal from El Sombrero. The food was awesome! I have been searching for a "real" Mexican restaurant ever since moving here from Houston. HERE IT IS! Muchos Gracias, El Sombrero!!
