While siting in the bar we had horrible service, had to ask for menus, had to go to the bar 2 different times to get our drinks refilled, had to approach the waitress multiple times about ordering our food, when our food arrive there was a hair on the top of one of our tacos, after addressing the manager with our complaints, he did not even bother to take anything off of the bill or offer a free dessert or drink, just an apology.. My bill was $54 and the other couple we were with was $45, you would think with spending that kind of money in this establishment they would at least compensate something. We could of stayed home for a lot less!

Food was horrible. Had to send my enchiladas back which I never do. Ordered 2 beef tacos as a replacement. Was able to choke most of it down. The beef was not seasoned at all. The manager didnt seem very concerned even though he was apologetic. They also forced an 18% gratuity even though there was only 7 of us. I was a huge fan of this place for years but havent been here for six months or so. Dont plan on coming back. Can get better Mexican food at the local McDonalds.

My sister in law and i attend school together in valpo. we have a break between some of our classes and we always debate where we are going to eat. 95% of the time we eat at El Salto. The food is always fresh and hot. It always tastes SOOOO AMAZING!!! they have the best salsa that i have ever tasted. El Salto is always very quick to get us our drinks and always ask us how everything is. i love this place so much and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone!!!

Suuuuper slow service every time I have been there. Double charged me for a drink because I waited so long a different waiter asked me how I was doing and I said I was waiting for like 25 mins for another margarita so he brought one back and I was charged for 3 instead of 2. The waitress had the audacity to tell me I ordered it wrong and confused them... had to wait another 15 mins for her to change the bill and another 15 mins to come get my payment.

Prices are high. Chips are like cardboard. Service was bad. Server must have forgot we were there and it wasnt even busy. Had a frozen Margarita, had to take a Rolaids after it because it was so HEAVY on the sweet and sour mix. Food is not very good. Low quality and ultra-portion control tactics were used. We have given this place many chances and the food and service is always consistently shameful. This was our last time. No more.

Waited 20 minutes for a waitress and finally flagged one down. Another 5 minutes before one came to our table. Placed our order immediately. Another half hour went by and we asked for the manager. 5 minutes later our food came, but no manager. My combination order came with no sauce on the enchiladas and no rice or beans. Paid the bill and left. Definitely needs some house cleaning starting with the manager.

Awesome food and amazing drink specials. Servers are funny and interactive. Patio seating is a blast and highly recommended. Only taking away a star because they tend to fully disappear after youre given your food. Like...need to hunt one down to get your check. Otherwise, our go-to Mexican place! Keep up the awesome work!

The food was horrible, it looked and tasted like everything was premade and heated up in microwave and the service was not good at all tried to order a burrito the way i wanted it and she wouldnt she kept pushing the way it came with everything now makes sence it was premade.

The only thing holding this place back from five stars was the margarita. It was large and had a good amount of alcohol, but the taste was off. Otherwise the food was great, good price, nice ambiance. Well definitely recommend it to our friends and be back again.

The margarita I got was pretty strong (which I liked). The food was good and definitely authentic. Service wasnt too great and we spent a lot of time waiting for our server. Other than that it was very good food and the outside patio was pretty nice.

Very poor service Short handed of staff, had to wait several minutes for waiter to return! Just all around POOR SERVICE! And this is NOT THE 1ST TIME FOR POOR SERVICE!! Both too sure if wed return to Valpo location!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED AGAIN!!!

Do not come on cinco de mayo! Very long wait was to be expected on a Friday but the lack of service and the horrible cooking that was done tonight did not make up for it! Not to mention everything was portioned smaller even the drinks. Unreal

Chicken Taco special. Best chicken Tacos I ever had. Fresh grilled chicken, home made sauce and fresh red cabbage made for a great lunch. Was unable to eat all three tacos. Fresh salsa served with chips was to notch. Highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I go here for a date night quite often. They have great food, fast service, and huge drinks! The prices are also very reasonable, not cheap, but reasonable.
