I find it interesting that my previous 1-Star Review was removed. Nice try. I was a Regular here for some months and enjoyed everything about El Cantaritos until one day. I am retired (60 years old) and disabled, and had been coming there for 6 months almost on a daily basis with my trained, certified, documented, and legitimate Service Animal. One of the new Servers noticed my dog laying at my feet as he is supposed to do. He scolds me that dogs arent allowed and when trying to explain that I am already previously cleared with the Management and Owners (personally), he would hear none of it. He just kept excitedly repeating (over and over) that I had to leave ... raising his voice louder and louder, until everyone was staring at me. Finally, he stopped yelling long enough to find the Mgr. in the back, as I had kept asking him to do. When he returned, he just nods to me as he walks past as if to let me know that my presence would be tolerated. Not one word was said to me. Having some time to absorb what had just happened, I asked him if he understood what Service Animals are and why people have them. He just kept saying "Excuse me?!" over, and over. I knew then that this guy was looking for a fight ... this was not a miscommunication due to a language barrier. This kind of treatment is a GREAT EMBARRASSMENT to disabled people with Service Animals. We try our best to live a normal life and this kind of reception from people and businesses is abhorrent. Federal & State Statutes have been in place for 26 YEARS regarding the Civil Rights of the Disabled. I guess this is why people never see the Disabled ... we are hiding at Home where we should be ... out of sight and out of mind. Right? I have not forgotten about this experience, and I strongly encourage any Veteran, or the loved-one of the Disabled to BOYCOTT this business. - Article_86

Menus were gross and sticky, had to send them back to be cleaned. Plenty of good food choices. My quesadilla cantarito was pretty good, probably better without the canned cheese sauce. My mates enjoyed their grilled shrimp dishes. Salsa was tasty, chips tasted greasy. Portions plentiful, plan on taking some home. I think theyd have more business if they found a way to muffle the noise - very noisy at half-full.

This past weekend was my second time coming and once again IT WAS GREAT!!!!! I had just had the worst Mexican food the night before in a downtown Chicago Restaurant and was determined to answer my craving for GOOD Mexican food. I went to El Cantarito and YESSSSSSSS! My craving was satisfied! Making plans to introduce some friends to this restaurant soon!

I really dont know why this place isnt always packed! It is in my top three favorite Mexican restaurants ANYWHERE. The steak tacos are to die for and they are so CHEAP! Im considering never grocery shopping again, and just eating at this place forever.

Our number one place to go for authentic Mexican meals. Beer and liquor are served here also. Watch out though because if it says Hot on the menu it is probably Hot to them but acid burning hot to us gringos. Five stars for food and service.

Good Mexican food for the area, not the absolute pinnacle, but great in a pinch. Im a fan of their insanely-sized Burrito el Cantarito with all sorts of meat within. Also Bistek ala Mexicana - steak with veggies and tortillas, really good.

Chips and cheese is microwaved zapped chips with little sprinkled cheese on top and nachos supreme was soggy and extremely gross tasting. Took me 5 minutes to get the food home and 5 seconds to throw it in the trash.

I got Huevos Ranchero, chips and salsa and a water for $6 bucks! It was a good breakfast. I played the menu right. Four stars are given only to reserve my credibility for those few actual five star experiences.

Very good tacos de pastor and my wife loves there steak tacos. The horchata is the bomb and the restaurant itself is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Most definitely will be coming back.
