This, bar none, my favorite sushi restaurant. Period. I go frequently, at least twice a month, and have yet to have a negative experience. Their sushi variety is great, and they have BOGO specials on tuna (mondays) and salmon (tuesdays), as well as drink specials on other days. Favorite roll has to be the pica Hawaiian, but the fried oyster roll is pretty awesome too. If sushi isnt your thing, they offer some great authentic Japanese items as well. Their kimchi is good. The biggest surprise for me was their ramen. The tonkotsu ramen is incredible. As for service, theyre always pretty quick when I go, and theyre very friendly. They have a bar, and the inside is nicely decorated. They also have outdoor seating. I can only recall ever waiting for a table once, but theyre always somewhat busy at dinner time. Pricing is great, especially if you go on Monday or Tuesday and order the respective special. Also, they have a lot of gluten free items. A friend of mine with celiac was able to eat here with no issues, so when they say gluten free (it is marked on the menu) they mean it. They also clearly mark vegan/vegetarian items on their menu. All in all, it doesnt get much better than this for sushi or for Japanese food.

EXCELLENT!!! Very authentic, fresh, and clean. Great prices! The rice for the sushi is the best, the texture and the flavor of the rice are just right. The owner is from Japan and he is very nice. He has two locations, this one and one in Maryville. I have not been to the Maryville location. This is a nice place to go out for a nice evening with your significant other, gather with friends or have a family meal, the atmosphere is very nice! They always have special on the board, make sure to check them out. Additional short menu list deals if you go on Mondays and Tuesdays. Mondays have a 1/2 price tuna menu and Tuesdays have 1/2 price salmon menu. Everything I have had has been great (sushi, hibachi, ramen, tempura). My favorite sushi roll is the stop light. (Please note that I do not eat salmon, eel, or shrimp, so everyone has their own favorite) The staff will answer any questions you have, if you see something on the menu that your not familiar with, just ask they will describe it for you. This is my go to sushi place!!!

Love and agree with everyones comments about the sushi. Im going to review something else: ramen. My wife and I used to live in Japan together and we love real Japanese Ramen. Real Japanese Ramen takes days to make (broth) and requires a special type of noodle. It is a completely different world from the 10 cent bags you get in the grocery store. Anaba is very clearly the best shop for authentic Japanese ramen in Knoxville. Weve met and talked with both the owner and his wife in Japanese and they are warm, friendly, and very encouraging. The ramen is hot, authentic, and we were even told he even imports the noodles! We go back all the time and basically get the same two bowls of ramen. I can not speak highly enough of of this restaurant. 懐かしい味だと思う。ありがとうあなばの皆さん!頑張ってください!

I ordered the tempura udon, and my husband got the panko chicken. Both were a severe disappointment. The chicken karaage was decent. The rice for the panko chicken was mushy and flavorless, and the chicken itself was overcooked to a criminal degree and completely flavorless. Whatever sauce they paired it with was not good either. The udon was lacking as well. The tempura fried veg was cold when it arrived, and soggy. Flavorless. The stock was slightly better, but too heavy on the soy sauce and not enough bonito flavor to be a good udon stock. The reviews for this place were good, but Ive not been this disappointed in a meal in a very long time.

Fresh sushi, good variety on the menu, reasonably priced. The drink menu could use some expansion, but still plenty of beer, wine, cocktails to keep you satisfied. Dress is casual and the ambient noise is moderate; not too quiet but nothing over-stimulating as well. There is a covered patio outside where you can see the lake just past the parking lot and Northshore Drive. Monday night is half off of tuna products after 5pm, Tuesday offers the same for Salmon. Happy hour is BOGO on drinks--it ends at 2:30p Mon?Tuesday, and goes until 6:30p for the rest of the week.

Had my wifes birthday there and had a really great time! They were able to handle a larger group without any issues. Bartender even came out and explained a drink that my wife was asking about. The quality of the food was really good, although you do understandably pay a bit more. I think the quality and price were a good match. There is a TV there if you are into the game, but not so overwhelming that you cant enjoy a good meal with a group or someone else. Good environment and kept a good simple scene. Definitely recommend if youre in the area.

So glad I found Anaba!! Every time I eat here my tummy says YUM~ おいしい!!! So awesome! Sushi is very fresh and love their creative rolls. Not only food is great but the service is also great! I enjoy sitting at the sushi bar. Its very entertaining. The chef/staff/waitress at the bar also knows their menu better than the floor servers. Ive only been for dinner a several times. I am looking forward to try out for a lunch. Dont miss out their Tuna Monday and Salmon Tuesday!

As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by the head sushi chef. Our waitress was amazing and attentive. The best part, of course, was the food!! Flavor was key! The dishes were well crafted and wildly fresh!!We got 2 sushi rolls, the dipping and the chicken teriyaki roll, the tonkatsu ramen, and a rice bowl. The portions are big enough to feed 2! And the prices were incredibly reasonable! This is our new favorite spot!! Thank you again Anaba!

Ordered what we usually get at Maryville... Yakiniku bowls. Meat was super over cooked and the veg was super crunchy... like they didnt sauté it long enough. Asked for spicy mayo and got some other sauce. :( Kinda disappointed. My husband and I are huge fans of Anaba in maryville... and my pregnancy craving was sadly let down by this location. :( Go to the Maryville location. Promise its 100 times better! Thats where we will continue to go.

I give it a 3 star because it was bad but they made yakisoba with ramen and its not suppose to be made like that. Not only the yakitori anywhere here is not the same. I would know this only because im from okinawa and i was born and raised there til i was 14. So im not giving them a bad review. Just an okay one. The only place so far that i have had good yakisoba is when i went to cali. they know how to make real japanese food.

Ordered the Chriachie (fish bowl) and was severely disappointed. Wait person didnt even know what I was ordering. This was the most dissapointing experience at a Japanese restaurant in Knoxville Ive had in the past 20 years!!! Dont eat here if you expect to have a semi-normal satisfactory dinner. They have good access to sushi but their service sux! The kids working the sushi bar think Americans are idiots!
