I have stopped at this restaurant in the past year with a friend while we were just passing by and was not very impressed at all by their food or particularly their service for that fact. While watching the news this morning the story caught my attention and was surprised to hear about a small place in the middle of nowhere that I had been too. I do find Its absolutely absurd that the restaurant would track down the customer using police enforcement to trace her plates in order to send a bill that they dont accept payment for. The woman tried sending payment twice and was refused both times. $5 is surely enough money to flush the toilet and wash her hands (Thats if she even washed her hands). But then to call a city paid police officer using tax payers money to waste his/her time to track someone down for no apparent reason is just absurd. If she walked into the restaurant and asked an employee prior to using the restroom and the employee agrees without informing the customer of a ridiculous $5 fee, she has every right to use that restroom. When you really gotta go, your not stopping to read sings before walking into a restroom. I know its in the middle of nowhere in TN, but they really need to find a different hobby to take on. Just my opinion. Shame on "Flood Zone" for this.

Dear Flood Zone, Someone stops to use your restroom and does not buy anything so you take down their tag number and call the police? Then you actually have the gall to get their address from the police and send them a bill for using the restroom? NOTICE!!! Message to owners/mangers.....It wont be long before you close your doors/business....just like youve done with your restrooms. Any one that enters your establishment is a customer, furthermore the restroom is a convenience for your customers and there children...If a child needs to have a diaper change do you also contact the Sheriffs Dept and have a fee $5 or $10...one for each person in the bathroom (parent & child)? I havent even touch upon Hygiene of Humanity??? Another example of why we need a better education system in certain areas of this country. Ignorance takes precedence in this case...Very Sad. Oh, one more thing, Its interesting the Name of your establishment is the "Flood Zone", Wow Perfect! Respectfully Yours KJ

First mistake: charging to use your restrooms. I mean, seriously. And $5 at that? Youre really telling me one restroom user uses $5 worth of toilet paper, paper towels, water, and electricity. Ludicrous. Second mistake: writing down the license plate number of a visitor who did not pay. Count your losses and move on. Third mistake: contacting Sheriff numb-nuts to ILLEGALLY divulge the visitors address so you could send them said fine. Fourth mistake: actually sending the hand-written letter containing the fine (complete with spelling mistakes--- has nobody informed you of the basics of Microsoft Word?). Fifth mistake: when said visitor comes in to pay her fine, actually NOT taking her money. WHAT?!?!

Yeah, I realize that toilet paper, hand towels, water and electricity cost money... However, if your product and service are good enough, you should have plenty to cover the occasional "rest-stopper".. ONE WAY TO KILL A BUSINESS ...charge for your restroom.. Five Bucks ? Wow... Look at Buckees in Texas.. They never charge ..cleanest best restrooms Ive ever been in.. I make it a point to stop there and I go through once a month.. Well, good luck with what I assume will be a failing business... I for one, after hearing this story, would never patronize your business.. Calling the cops.. OMG.. One suggestion...Change the name of your business ..Quickly !!

Dont know anything about this place except for the news blurb that confirmed the bathroom story. That was one of those stories that make you think "Why in the world???" Aired Thursday Feb. 28, 2013 - NBC Today Show 8:13AM Eastern Time If they charge $5 to go to the bathroom there I wonder how much a burger and fries with a drink is? I would question local authorities there as well for running the tags on the patron, Patricia Edwards. Seems like a violation of rights if no sign were posted for its use without buying something. Good rating given only for ability to post sake.

Oh BOY.....not a chance of me being anywhere close in proximity to your restaurant since I live states away from you in PA, but I would strongly encourage you doing some serious damage control...in this economic climate you just bought yourself some seriously bad publicity...with your uncharitable behavior...the time and energy wasted on you tracking down $5....cost you WAY more in patron business now I would say...Kharma ~ funny way of working, life will give you back what you give to it... Its a shame you "Sweat the small stuff" that day...ugh...ugh...ugh..

the decisions one makes should be seriously weighed before committing. Im certain that the restaurant owner wasnt betting on this type of press when they thought they were being cute and had a persons TAGS run by the police, in order to send a BILL to the person, then to DENY wanting the money, just to make a point! CMON MAN!! Heres how this could totally FLIP on them...A skiptracer, could find out quite easily who OWNS that restaurant and start hassling them~~I wonder how cute theyd think that would be!?

I tried this place a couple of times when they opened. The food was just simple fried this and that, nothing special but the prices were very high for what you get. My Dad and I stopped in on our motorcycles for lunch and got a couple mini burgers fries and a couple drinks and it was $15. Too much. Now a days, you can never tell when they will be open. I drive by regularly and they are closed on several days during lunch and dinner, and then one day they are open. Too much trouble to bother with.

As i understand it, you charge $5.00 to use the restroom if a person is not a customer ? Your spokesperson" says that is to insure that the restrooms stay clean for "paying" customers. I suspect that the recent publicity you received both locally, and Nationally, will likely assure that your restrooms stay spotless. Remember, NO publicity is better than BAD publicity and, an empty establishment is likely not to need very much restroom maintenance.

1. Shame on you for the $5.00 rest room fee! 2. Shame on you for running the ladys plate and contacting the police. 3. Shame on you for going as far as writing her a letter. 4. Shame on you for not accepting the money and telling her you were proving a point. What was the point? That you are willing to get a terrible reputation for going after this women? That a BIG SHAME ON YOU FOUR TIMES. I WILL NEVER EAT AT YOUR HMM…. RESTAURANT

Stupidity at its finest. The thought of even charging a non-customer $5 to use a bathroom is disgusting. Going to the bathroom is part of NATURE. If the lady had to go, she HAD TO GO. What ever happened to southern hospitality? Personally, I would have laid a fresh one on the floor right in front of the restaurant owner if I was told I had to pay $5. Sure I would have went to jail, but it would have been worth it.

This restaurant actually had police run someones license plate because they came in to use the bathroom. Then the officer actually handed over the persons address to the Flood Zone owner, Lisa; so she could mail them a $5 bill for using their restaurant. The story is all over yahoo and the web. NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT THESE PEOPLE ARE RIDICULOUS AND THE FOOD ISNT THAT GOOD.
