El Tapatio adjacent to motel in Cookeville: Ordered chicken quesadilla, the chicken inside was cool, not warmed at all, it was shredded--not ever gotten a "shredded" chicken quesadilla anywhere before--it seemed exactly like they opened a can of cooked shredded chicken from the shelf (like you buy at the grocers), shoved it in a quesadilla, sprinkled cheese on it and sent it out to me. It was tasteless and nasty. That was a few years ago, and I have not and will not be back! Maybe the stand-alone El Tapatio in Cookeville is better, idk; I havent been there, yet. Kind of afraid Ill get the same service. IF I DO GO, Ill be sure to ask how my order is prepared. I will say that they DID NOT CHARGE ME at the El Tap (adjacent to the motel) due to my disgust and the looks of it when I called their attention to my plate. I told them how it looked and tasted, and how I believe it was prepared, or lack thereof. Still aint going back to that one.

The worst food ever. No flavor or good stuff. Totally taking advantage of the people who have not had real Mexican food. The beans and rice were dry and flavorless. The tacos and burritos only had the meat in it, YUP NOTHING else other than meat!!!! No toppings, seasoning, guacamole, N O T H I N G!!! The enchiladas had no cheese but only meat inside with the worse sauce in the world! Wal-Mart has better options of enchilada sauce! Ill never go back, and only warn people of how awful it is!

El Tapatio serves some of the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. Their "hot salsa" tasted like tomato juice and when we asked for something hotter we were served a strange tasting paste which barely tingled the tongue and fell far short of dazzling our taste buds. The entrees were bland and nowhere near our expectations of authentic Mexican cuisine. The waitress was not very friendly, but provided decent service.

Probably the best mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. My girlfriend cannot get enough of this place and the prices are crazy cheap!!! The chile relleno is my favorite and be sure to order the fried jalapenos they are free!!!( unless your order to go which is kind of stupid)

Not worth the price paid. Came for breakfast family of 6.Tortillas are not home made and coffee was border line cold. Ticket total was over $60 for breakfast tacos and 2 burrito plates and 2 eggs with bacon.

I love this restaurant. First choice when I want Mexican food. Great taste, even for an actual Mexican like me. Its not 100% Mexican at all, but its great rating food say reasonable prices.

Awesome service!!! My child has always said the salsa they serve at mexican restaurants was to spicy. I mentioned it to our waitress and she brought out a mild red sauce. He loves it !!!
