These people saying derogatory things about Los Amigos are idiots. The one that stated that his booth was dirty and torn is just lying. I have been frequenting this restaurant on a regular basis for many years, even when they were in the strip mall next to D & W and hands down they are the cleanest food establishment in Portage. Ive always recieved excellent service there. If you want to see an example of a filthy eatery just walk into Logans Road House. And Brands isnt too much better. Some detractors may be close to accurate when describing the food as not authentic because it has been "toned down" for caucasion consumption. I was raised in Texas and I know that people up here in Michigan most likely could not handle truely authentic Mexican food. But as Mexican restaurants go up here in the North Los Amigos is the best Portage or Kalamazoo will see. The guy who suggested Taco Bell of all places obviously hasnt walked in there. That place is disgusting. I dont even want the bottoms of my shoes touching the floors in that place. My reccomendation to anyone who is reading these reviews is just to try Los Amigos yourself and be your own judge.

First off, the decor and look was clean and very pretty. The paintings hung around were huge and very appealing to the eye. We started off with their chips and salsa. The salsa was ground up quite a bit and didnt taste very fresh. I guess we like it a bit more chunky - this was more watery and less flavorful. The waiter did not seem fluent in English and when I mentioned I was vegetarian, he didnt have much to say or offer. That made it hard to figure out what I should get. So I had the vegetable fajitas and my husband had a mixed meat fajitas (chicken, beef, shrimp, etc. and veggies) - Im not sure what his dish was called - see photos. Both our portion sizes were huge! Our dinner totaled to $30 with tip and we had enough for an extra meal. There were large groups seated in the part of the restaurant where we were seated so it was obscenely loud. Im not sure why we got seated there. The two of us could barely have a conversation. Overall it was a good experience. The service could have been a little bit better. The server did not come around to check on us after the food was ordered until we finished. Our water was not replenished either.

I eat at your restaurant once a week. I just bought take out, got home, everyone started eating and we quickly realized we were missing 2 chalupas and 2 sides of beans. We called to tell you and was told we had to bring everything back. This confused us and didnt make sense. We had already began eating. We were literally told they thought we were lieing and we ate the food and are trying to get free food. The guy on the phone kept interrupting us and was very rude. We asked to speak to a manager. The guy on the phone said the manager wasnt there and he was in charge and he doesnt give out free food. We again said we didnt want free food we just want what we paid for. Are you kidding me? Over 2 chalupas and refried beans? We ordered a ton of food as we always do. We said we will never be back and were going to write a bad review and let people know. We were told you dont care if you lose customers. I hope it was worth 2 chalupas and some beans. Buyers beware! Horrible customer service. Rip-off alert!

Horrible experience! We will never eat there again! First I ordered a cherry coke and was given a water then when the waiter came and asked if we were ready to order I asked if I could get my cherry coke and was given attitude Then my boyfriend said we wanted to start out with the beef and cheese dip and we were about to tell him what we wanted to eat for dinner he just walked away... Less than a minute later he came back with the beef and cheese dip and just walked away again..the beef and cheese dip was half grease and nearly edible..he finally came and dropped off my coke..about 5 mins late he came back to take our order. My boyfriend ordered the steak fajitas and I order a chicken burrito amigos. When our food came my boyfriends fajitas were burnt and I got a beef burrito! Very poor customer service and horrible food

Do not eat at this restaurant unless you want to get sick. I actually called the health inspector to report unsafe food handling. I was eating there and watching the serve area. I saw more than one server eating in this area and then not washing their hands afterwards. I saw a busser/server actually grab food with her bare hands and shove the food into her mouth, lick her fingers clean and then proceed to fill baskets of tortilla chips with out washing her hands. In her defense she did wipe her hands off with a towel. Then I saw her use the same towel to wipe off tables. She repeated this process of stuffing her face with food cleaning tables wiping her hands with the same towel over and over. So disgusting. This restaurant should be shut down before they kill a small child or an elderly due to food illnesses.

Just ordered take out and only got half of my food. Called to recieve the rest of my food and was being accused of eating it all, so I can get free stuff. Was told that I need to bring all of my food back, so they can see if I was a liar? The guy told me that there is no manager around and he is in charge and "Cant give away free food," even though it would just be what they would owe me!! I am so offended right now and will never be returning. I also told the guy that I would be writing a review and telling my friends what horrible service I recieved and he didnt care that he would be losing customers.

What a joke. Professionalism obviously wasnt something they were looking for when they they hired anyone in this place. Its dirty. The booth my wife and I sat at was ripped up and uncomfortable to sit in. The salsa they bring with chips is good. But that is where it ends. The food was done 2 minutes after we ordered. So no its not fresh. I was really in the mood for Mexican food and this is a huge disappointment. Bland food and horrible service makes this restaurant one of the worst I have been to. Save your money and go to Taco Bell. At least their food is warm when it comes out.

Overall not a good experience. The waiter wanted to take our order 2 minutes after getting to the table, and when we asked for more time he didnt come back for 15 minutes. He sat at a table across from us making the silverware rolls and stared at us while we ate. My food was soaked in grease to the point where it was literally dripping in brown grease. The quesadilla didnt actually have cheese in it, but full of questionable looking chicken. I was there with 4 people and they put all of our meals on 1 bill, leaving those of us paying with cards in an awkward spot.
