We came here the Saturday before Easter for the first time, while visiting from Atlanta. The people who say this is really good and rate it highly, have never been to another Brazilian steakhouse. The reason I know this is because if they had any, and I mean ANY, other Brazilian Steakhouse to compare it to, including chains like Fogo de Chao, they would not rate this above 2 stars. First of all, my husband is Brazilian. He had lived in Brazil, eaten Brazilian food, and gone to a bunch of Brazilian restaurants and steakhouses throughout his life with his family. And this restaurant should be ashamed to carry the title of "Brazilian" anything. First red flag - about no one there speaks Portuguese, or even recognized that my husband was speaking it. When he called to make a reservation, the person on the phone kept saying she doesnt speak Portuguese, and it took her 5 minutes to find someone who does. When we went to the actual restaurant, no one at the desk or anywhere nearby could speak it either, and didnt offer to go get someone to help. Luckily I was able to translate, but he looks forward to going to these places to speak his language and be in the culture. Second, the food was terribly and horribly bland, and service was super slow. At a REAL Brazilian restaurant with REAL Brazilians working there, the service is 5-star. They are proud of their work and culture. Here hardly anyone made eye contact or seemed excited about their work. This was pathetic. At the end of the meal, I pointed out to the waiter that we had eaten at many Brazilian steakhouses and restaurants, and we had never had food so bland, dry, and overcooked. His response: "We cant make the meat too "exotic," we have to please everyone." Totally didnt even seem to care. Umm, what is exotic about salt, pepper, garlic and the occasional spritz of lemon? If these four things are considered too "exotic" for your tastes - DO NOT DINE HERE. Or anywhere. Probably should even avoid Dennys, too. If you even complain your water is too warm at a REAL Brazilian steakhouse, they will basically send your cup off to Antarctica to make sure it comes back cold enough for you. They take pride in their work and customer service and bend over backwards to make sure you have a 5-star experience. Rioz is not a REAL Brazilian steakhouse and should be ashamed to use the B-word anywhere in their name. If you are coming to a Brazilian restaurant, you are expecting the food to be cooked Brazilian style - and seasoned that way, too. Would you go to a Mexican restaurant, who serves their quesadillas with homemade tortillas, rice, and pico de gallo, and say it was "too Mexican?" No, youd probably realize "doh, I dont like Mexican food so I probably just wont eat here. DUR DUR DUR." You shouldnt expect the rest of us who actually enjoy the authentic, flavorful tacos and fajitas to suffer a bland knockoff to appease your taste. So long story short - if you have either A) never been to a Brazilian steakhouse before, B) dont care about the quality or dryness/blandness of your food as long as you can eat all you want, or C) like eating in environments with mediocre service and that are highly unapologetic about their poor quality, you may really like it here and I encourage your visit. If you want real Brazilian food and non-crappy service, youd see yourself better fit at Fogo de Chao, Texas de Brazil, or basically ANYWHERE ELSE but here.

I am often apprehensive about dining in Myrtle Beach but the trip to Rioz was great. The restaurant has a price fixed menu. Dinner with the full salad bar runs about $35 per person and does not include beverages or desserts. There is an option available for the salad bar only and it is worth the price if you are not very hungry or not a meat eater. This is not your traditional MB tourist restaurant. This restaurant is definitely more for the guest with an expectation of a variety of quality foods. The salad bar is available without the meat service at a slightly lower price which is well worth it when it is completely stocked. Sushi, shrimp cocktail, mussels, gourmet cheeses as well as salad fixings were available. They offer a variety of dressings as well. Those are atop the salad bar and are easy to overlook when your distracted with the massive salad bar. After youve tried your salad the meat will begin to arrive. There are 12-14 meats available including steak, veal, lamb, pork and chicken. These are brought to your table and large skewers and cut in front of you. If the portion was too rate they would cut from a different area of the skewer for you. The meat was flavorful, juicy and presented well in the traditional Brazilian steakhouse coin method. The staff was very attentive and worked very well as a team. The desserts were wheeled around on a cart and served in front of you. The creme brulee was served from the kitchen and the portion was probably the largest I have ever had ordering that dessert. The portion was probably two-three times the size of the dainty desserts served by some restaurants. We were also pleased with how affordable the mixed drinks and desserts were. The mojitos were outstanding! We visited during the week on an off peak week. I expect the weekend or summer crowds to be much larger during the peak summer tourist season. This place is a meat fest so dont bring your vegetarian friends.

Everything weve heard about this restaurant made it sound like it was going to be a wonderful experience. It was everything but that. The price for the salad bar is extremely expensive in my opinion and what you get on it is really not that great. What was supposed to be hot pasta was not even Luke warm and the broccoli and pasta salad were severely under dressed. All of it lacked flavor. I was originally only going to do the salad bar but when I realized that that wasnt going to do it for me I opted for the meat option. We had told her waitress that we had never been there before so she explains that when you want to meet you flip your red coaster to the green side. So we did... The meat was actually very good. But I didnt eat 30 some-odd dollars worth of meat so it wasnt really worth it. When we went to get our checks me and my husbands check was correct but my parents only got the salad bar and got charged for the meat option which was about $10 extra per person. My sister-in-law who also only got the salad bar also got charged for the meat. When we explain to our waitress that they only got the salad bar and that we got charged improperly she snapped at us saying that we should have told her ahead of time that we only wanted the salad bar... There was an extreme lack of communication on her end of the rules of how this restaurant worked. Apparently if you get only the salad bar you can still get the grilled pineapple and salmon that the guys walk around with. That was never explained to us. We explained what happened to the floor manager and well he did a little bit on his end to make it right, I would still never go back. For the price and the hassle its just not worth it.

Do NOT bother going to this restaurant. The prices are SUPER expensive, and far from worth it. The first course is essentially a random, cold salad bar full of items that dont seem to go together: asparagus, boiled shrimp, hunks of blue cheese and black beans and rice. Who puts these things together in the same course? The second course was the selection of meats. Every single piece was WAY overcooked, and even when my table requested rarer portions, we were served meat that was so charred that the bones were BLACK. Also -- unlike many other brazilian steakhouses -- Rioz charges you EXTRA if you want dessert. Which, after a meal of random cold salads and tiny slices of charred meat, you probably will. SO CHEAP! As for the service, our waitress forgot to bring us the drinks we ordered, and then we were charged for them anyway. At the end of our meal, when we received our check, we complained. The manager offered to bring us our drinks right then -- but who wants to drink AFTER their meal, as opposed to during it? But instead of offering us some kind of compensation for the servers mistake, the manager simply apologized. Good customer service is offering compensation to unhappy customers, not simply an apology. Bad food. Bad service. WAY overpriced. Skip this place if you possibly can.
