We went to PFP a little more than a month ago on a Saturday night. The food was GREAT the first time we went and the service was a little above average with the waitress being very friendly. Yesterday, while on the drive back from our weekend vacation in Charleston we decided to stop at Pawleys for lunch and this time was not the experience we had the first time. We waited on a table for 30 minutes as they were very busy since it was a USC game day. We got seated at a table that was close to the kitchen door. We were in the way and one of the waitresses even hit my chair while walking around us. It took longer than it should have to get drinks. We ordered our food and it came out quickly. Our drinks took some time to get filled each time and we were frequently out of drink before we got refills. The first time we went to PFP the burgers were very good. One of the best I have ever had with great flavor combinations. This time however the burgers were put together very sloppy and were overcooked. My burger had so much sauce on it that the bun was soggy and fell apart. The onion rings and fried pickles were VERY greasy this time as well. I dont think Ill make a special effort to go to Pawleys anymore.

I have to give them a one star. The hamburger had way to much salt. I took there challenge so I ate 3 patties so it was like eating there 3 times. Each patty was as bad as the first. I was just thankful I saved the some sweet potato fries for the last so I didnt have to go the rest of the day with that taste in my mouth. I will try them again in the future in hopes to change my rating to a higher star. I hope it was just a bad day for them and by the way, my wife said the same thing so it wasnt just me. One last thing dont bother with the challenge if you think you are going to get your name on a knife because they dont do that anymore which they told me after the lunch. But they do give you a $10 gift certificate for your next visit.

We just left this place after driving out of our way during a family trip. After watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, we were all extremely excited to give it a try. Shortly after being seated, there was a roach behind my daughters back. We brushed it off as a one-time occurance. As we started eating our appetizer, my son had a roach crawl across his plate and stayed there. We immediately decided to leave!!As I told the waitress the issue, she had the nerve to try to get me to pay for our drinks and app. The manager apologized and stated that they have been having issues and its been a long summer. Please stay as far away from this place as you can....Of course, unless want extra protein with your meal

Pawleys Front Porch is located in the Five Points area of Columbia, SC. The restaurant has been around for a few years (3 or 5). Their main draw are the hamburgers (~$10). Be sure to checkout their online menu. My favorite is the "Wadmalaw" burger or chicken sandwich. After being featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives it has become a "must-try" spot in town. Tourist and locals keep it packed during lunch. My advice; go early or wait until after 1pm. The porch is enjoyable nearly year round thanks to the Carolina weather. My beer geek buddies say the selection of brews is pretty good to, if you are into that sort of thing. Price: $$ Average visit: 50-60 minutes

I agree with Rachel and the fact that this place is definitely overrated.... Food is okay but definitely nothing special. It is all about the hype and the fact they were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives that apparently gives them some street cred. There are places in Columbia that do a far better burger. Not a bad place to hang out for a couple of beers - but again - food not so much. I also question the cleanliness of the restaurant, as the last time I dined there, a roach crawled across my table.... I believe this restaurant is trying to model themselves after the popular Poes Tavern on Sullivans Island - but fails to deliver.....

Place was NOT everything it has been cracked up to be. I got the first burger they showed on triple Ds, the burger itself was Amazing, the salsa was pretty good, the cheese thick and creamy (depends on if you like it that way), the fried tomatoes were just that. Putting them all together between the WORST pretzel bun I have ever seen, made the meal not so enjoyable. I also got the onion rings, if you want soggy and covered in pepper rings then this is your place. I rated 3/5 because the burger meat was actually REALLY good on its own. I would only go back here if someone I was dining out with really wanted to go.

Food was good, but not great. We had a new waitress who seemed nervous but she had a trainer with her. Good move on the restaurants part. However, my husbands burger was made incorrectly so they immediately offered to fix it... and then it was still wrong. We didnt bother having them fix it again, since it was a very busy Friday night. Were from out of town, but if were ever back, I think we would give them another shot if we didnt have many other new options. Prices were reasonable and even though it was busy, the atmosphere was good without disturbances from people or feeling too crowded.

My burger was one of the best Ive ever had! It was cooked perfectly and had a combination of great flavors. My waitress wasnt very attentive. We only saw her a couple times after she took our order and we were the only ones eating inside. The red hot onion rings were not great. Id have prefered a good frozen ring. My friends hand cut shoestring fries were ok but nothing special. Our bill was $28 for a couple burgers and sodas. I will definately come back. I would probably skip the basket if its an option. I suggest the isle of palm burger. Its delicious!

I think this place is a bit overrated. The burgers are good, but not the best in town by any means. They always have a long wait, and their food is good, but I think its more about the hype. We had pretty awful service at the bar outside the last time we went. We were perfectly amicable with the waiter but she seemed to have something against us and very begrudgingly served us. I dont think she said more than two words to us throughout the entire experience. It was very odd, since we were pretty good customers and didnt have any complaints or extra needs!

Best burger in Columbia no doubt. This locally owned burger joint is great for dinner with the family, Monday nights kids eat for a dollar! They also have a great dinner and drink specials. Tuesday night is half off burgers, Wednesday night they have Tacos and a Margarita $10 (my favorites). There porch is perfect for a sunny warm day, or to watch a storm roll into five points (Dog Friendly!). If you want a good burger with great toppings and flavor go to Pawleys. The onion rings and fried pickles are spot on too, its hard to go wrong here.
