Rock Hill has a lot to offer. I had ridden by the Five & Dine a few times on my bike. Decided to go in for a late breakfast. The building has a nice old feeling which is nice. Overall a nice space. The menu is hard to read. They decided to stick with the Broadway font and it makes the menu pretty impossible to read the way they have it laid out. First rule to make sure your customers can read the menu. When I mentioned it to the staff they seemed to take it personally. Its not personal is business and I cant read your menu so that makes it hard for me to order...get over it. When we arrived there were two people in the restaurant. So adding us made 4. The service is very slow and neither of the wait staff seem to have a sense of urgency. One of them did nothing while the other one was running around not doing much of anything either. Coffee ran out constantly. Drinks went dry. Over all very slow and scattered service. Our food finally came out after about 20 minutes and was wrong and was cold. So all that running around she had forgotten to pick up the food and check the order. I ate mine since I was hungry and the other went back to get done again and only took about 7 min. to fix. Overall not bad but would be hard pressed to go there again unless it was a last minutes thing. Food was tasty but needed some tweaking. Clearly they are trying but could use some help getting it together and they need some processes.

This was my first experience at Five and Dine, and I was not impressed. My friend and I sat for at least 10 minutes before we were greeted by our server. Our starter salads took at least 30 minutes to get to us, and the ramekins were only half filled with ranch dressing. Our entrees took another hour to get to us, and when they did, both of our dishes were luke warm at best. The mashed potatoes were so incredibly salty that I was downing the water that hadnt been refilled once by our server. The gravy with the country fried chicken was flavorless. Additionally, the server told me that it would be a $1 upcharge to sub the broccoli for mac and cheese. Turns out, it was actually $5 to sub the side. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I always try to give the benefit of the doubt. I was very disappointed with my experience at Five and Dine. I will not return.

Seems like I cant post zero stars. This place started off pretty strong; they at least showed promise. More recently, we went as a party of six for dinner on a Sunday at 6:45. There was only one server working, so it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The temperature in the restaurant was 60; apparently it had been all day because the one server, who worked all day, couldnt get the owner/manager to answer her phone and then come fix it. So it just stayed at 60 degrees all day, even though it was 34 degrees outside. Finally, the food was horrible. Cold, overcooked, seemingly tossed together into a disgusting sludge, in the case of the pot pie, and ultimately, barely edible. Its a shame, but we wont be going back.

I had the worst restaurant experience.. no the worst experience ever at this establishment .. the food was horrible it was under cooked and stale and old looking. The employees were horrible, they didnt look like they knew what they were doing . But the worst of it all was the management. Complete lack of knowledge on how to do her job. She was in the phone the entire time and didnt seem to care about how the restraunt was operating. She did nothing. The employees were noticeably irritated with her for her crap job. My whole experience made the rest of my day so shitty. I had diarrhea and cramps all day, not to mention how awful it was going down. If I was to give advice to someone willing to go here. Rethink. Please.

I am not sure what the person ordered who said it was a small portion. The portion sizes here are actually huge. My fiance and I were unable to finish ours and took home the left overs. I got the smothered chicken, and my fiance got the BBQ pork dish. It was the best food we have had in a long time. The customer service was decent, it was bothersome she had her personal friends in there to chat with the entire time. But it didnt distract her from making sure we were taken care of. It is certainly a casual place to eat. I personally thought it was a little upscale so that was my bad. We will certainly be back!!

Ive not been in Rock Hill long but I must say that I absolutely LOVE this establishment! The atmosphere and food is way different than anything else Ive experienced in Rock Hill. My family and I have been for breakfast and dinner and both times the service was great and the food was awesome! The staff is sooooo friendly and very accommodating and the prices are really reasonable. Im going to try to make visiting this place a regular occurrence because I would hate for them to leave for lack of customers. I really like this place.

Went for Sunday brunch. Food was unremarkable, and my Southwestern omelet was over-supplied with undercooked black beans and was, overall, undercooked. Worst of all, we waited right at 1 hour for our food after ordering, while watching numerous other parties come in, get served, eat and leave. We literally watched the place fill up and then empty during our time there. Coffee was excellent, but although I would return if a friend insisted on going there for lunch I will not go back on my own initiative.

First visit was great. Last visit at lunch the bread was stale. Sent my son and his girlfriend for dinner last night. They waited for over an hour to receive their food due to a Christmas party going on. The restaurant was otherwise pretty empty. Waiter was rude and kept ignoring them. Some of the food (waffle) came out cold. Chocolate milkshake was over blended and was like chocolate milk. We try and support local businesses but unfortunately will not be returning to Five and Dine.

It was good. Chili was good. Meatloaf was great. I even liked the collards and I dont usually eat them. Nice place inside. The burgers looked good and Im going back to try them all. Update; I wend back for the bacon cheeseburger. It was great, not over cooked, well seasoned, just right. The fries were perfectly browned. I think this is the best burger in RH. I can also recommend the cheesecake.

We were there for lunch today, 09/29/2014 at 11:30. No one else was there. Service was horrible, slow and inattentive. There was one waitress and one other person. Drinks finally came when the food was served. My Cod fish was under cooked. Her vegi-burger was more rice (pasty), than anything else. Salad had only oil on it . . no flavor what so ever. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! John G

My son and I really like this small diner. As a historical note, it is located where the McCrorys lunch counter was where the Friendship Nine refused to move until they were served as a part of the civil rights movement. The food is great - from chicken and waffles to steaks to a banana and nutella sandwich rolled in Captain Crunch and grilled. Definitely a stop for comfort food.
