So usually we go to Ichiban down in Charleston and that evening we wanted to try something different. After reading the reviews about how the service is kind of terrible and the only thing that was good was the fish tank we decided to still go. The hostess was super nice, but once we got to the waiter we just felt that that everything we were asking for was just irritating or annoying her, I even saw her treat someone behind us the same way when he didnt like the beer. We wanted to walk out but we already ordered our food at this time. There was another couple that walked in and sat at the sushi bar and our waiter completely did a 180 in her attitude toward them. If the sushi and hibachi plate wasnt good I wouldve given it one star bit the food is pretty good, just prepare yourself to get the cold shoulder if youre someone new.

First time there, first problem, they said 25 min. Wait, turns out to be over an hour, then waitress Nita gets our order wrong and we dont know this until the cook is giving out the food, when I asked about mine, he didnt know. Food not very good anyways, but as we were eating, Nita reaches over my plate to grab and empty dish as I am taking a bit and almost nails me in the head. Waited 15 min for Nita to bring the check, then I noticed the 18% gratuity added to the check. Yes there were 8 of us, one 2 yr old who did eat and a 8 month old who did not eat. I was not going to leave Nita anything, other staff members filled drinks, etc, dont know where she was. Only thing nice about the place was the fish tank and finally leaving that place.

I normally never have any problems when i go here. The food is excellent, lunch prices are reasonable, and ive always gotten good service. But the last time i went here my waitress was very rude to just me and my husband it seemed. Everytime she would go to her other tables she would be friendly and smiling but when she would come to us she would act like she had a problem with us. She would slam things down on our table and be short with us. She just didnt deserve a tip in my opinion so when i didnt leave her one she actually stopped me and asked why. I told her why and she still thought she deserved one. Nothing against the restuarant at all but just hope you dont get her as a waitress.

Your money is better spent elsewhere. Whoever the new owners are need to give this place and the staff more attention and training. The services was not nice at all. Food was decent, but absolutely not worth the price they were charging. Overall the experience was just not worth it. Theres way too many option for a much better dining experience. P.s. We paid extra for the bday song and picture. However, they forgot to sing happy birthday AND the camera they were attempting to use didnt work. So they took a picture using our camera and they still charge us for taking a pic with our OWN CAMERA!

Upon calling them I ordered a rainbow roll, which the guy didnt even know was on the menu. Then asked him if I ordered a second rainbow roll could I get spicy tuna instead of regular tuna, wouldnt mind if there was an upcharge. Nowhere does it say no substitution permitted. Yet he told me sushi chef would not do it, I immediately told him I would take my order elsewhere. Obviously unknowldgeable staff and management doesnt seem to care about pleasing the customer

We used to call Nakatos all the time for lunch from my workplace. Since they have been under new ownership we cant even get them to answer their phone! Which is so annoying! As a business that serves lunch dont you think it might be a good idea to answer at 12 pm on a Wednesday?! It sucks because their food was good and now we refuse to eat there. You lost 8 customers.

The worst experience ever! Waited over 30 minutes to be served and to top it off he gave extra food to customers he knew and shirted me and a friend. I complained to the manager and she just smiled and nodded like a helpless child! The waitress sucked too! Rude an oblivious! Dont waste money or time! Have gotten better service and food from a grocery store sushi chef!

Awful service and they do not offer specials as advertised. The female manager I spoke with would not let me speak to her about my concerns as a customer. She talked over me the entire time I tried to communicate with her. I then asked for her for the number to her supervisor and she stated I can make a complaint via website. Very rude and unconcerned.

Great food, nice chef at a good cost. It is completely worth it during the current economic problems. Everywhere else is downsizing on the food and quality. But Nakato gives you the best for your money. Every time I have been I have always had a wonderfully entertaining chef and a great time. The atmosphere is darken but very intimate. I love it.

Came for dinner to pay 30 dollars for a plate and the food amount was so little. DIDNT have enough to eat. THIS place is going from bad to worst. THEY are getting cheaper and cheaper with their food. WE used to come and have left overs for the next day, now, they dont even give you enough to eat there. BAD experience. Go to WASABI instead.

You might be surprised to find a great sushi place in the West Ashley area, but Nakatos fits the bill. The environment is the sushi bar is very pleasant (separate from the main hibachi area). Very fresh and yummy. The owners are very nice people, too.

After reading reviews we were hesitant to go but decided to try anyways. The service was good and our cook was even better. The restaurant itself isnt as fancy as some others like it, but the quality of the service and food was great!

Its an OK hibachi place if you cant make it anywhere else. The service was slow, the prices are high and the food was mediocre at best. With all the other Japanese steak houses around, its probably best to just keep driving.

My order consisted of a hand full of chicken scraps, bland, awful fried rice and a "soup" that was literally flavored water, it didnt even have a single mushroom floating in it. Do not waste your time or money here.

I work around the corner from Nakato and order their sushi at least once a week! They have amazing sushi and prices. The girls at the front are awesome as well. Ive always had a great experience when eating here!!

This has to be one of the best eating experiences I have ever had! The food is great and extremely entertaining to see it cooked in front of you. Btw, the restaurant is actually called Nakato. Worth every dollar!

Stephanie was a wonderful waitress. Our food was excellently prepared and bursting with flavor. As with all the Japanese steakhouses, theres just too much food. But excellent all the same.
