Geremie and her staff were simply amazing when executing our rehearsal dinner a few weeks ago. During the planning stages, we had been visiting different restaurants around Newport, trying to find the perfect spot for the rehearsal dinner. We had been to 22 Bowens, The Mooring and Sardellas but all three seemed a bit too much and a bit too impersonal for what we were looking for. Our last stop was Fluke Wine Bar & Kitchen and we really just fell in love with the place. The food was amazing and the building was more comfortable than the others. We stopped for dinner on a busy night, but even still Geremie, one of the owners, took the time to show us around and explained to us what they could do for a rehearsal dinner. We were sold and mailed in our deposit within the next week. When it got closer to the date of the dinner, we set a menu with Geremie and arranged for a cocktail hour before dinner at the beautiful bar on the 3rd floor. The view was absolutely stunning. There were appetizer plates and a couple cheese plates for the cocktail hour and for dinner there were 3 courses with a ton of different options. Dinner was down on the 2nd floor and we had our own little room off from the rest of the restaurant and they had personalized menus printed up for us. I think the majority of our guests went with the roasted chicken for their main course and are still raving about it. It was simply delicious. Along with the food being amazing, the service was impeccable. Geremie herself was there the entire time and everyone was incredibly personable. We definitely made the right decision with Fluke for our rehearsal dinner and we highly recommend it. We cant wait to go back soon!

While the food was excellent, and our waitress was wonderful -- I have a hard time recommending this restaurant. At the end of our meal, when we were all quite happy with the restaurant, we get a visit from the owner/manager. He tells us that this is the bad part of his job, to let us know we had been there for 2 hours and 40 minutes, and he needed to turn the table around. I fully understand the need to turn a table around, but we didnt even have the check yet! We cant leave until we have the check. The owner didnt even ask the waitress to bring our check over, he just came over and made us feel bad for enjoying our dinner / drinks. We had been eating / drinking the entire time. We ordered 2 rounds of appetizers, dinner, a few rounds of drinks throughout, and a single round of after dinner coffees. Its not like we were nursing an appetizer and a beer. For $8 per scallop (the dish was $32 and had 4 scallops, they were delicious however) I would expect better customer service. We asked for him to come back to explain why we were unhappy, and he told us that we were wrong, and the best way for him to handle it was to tell us we had to leave before we had the check. He walked away and shook his head.

The food at this restaurant was good, but the prices did not correspond to the service. We brought our newborn (2 months) who just sleeps most of the time, and by the facial expressions of the waitress and host it was like we brought a plague in. The unwelcoming staff seemed overly pretentious for no other reason then that they were located in Newport. I ordered a 9 dollar glass of pinoir not wanting to drink a lot, and it was worse then 5 dollar bottle from Trader Joes. The cheese plate was $20 for litterly 5 small pieces of cheese. I have been to plenty of high end restaurants and this one seemed to be more of a tourist trap. My advice would be to have better first tier wine, cut cost of rediculous cheese plate to $10 max, hire friendlier people. The food was good but the prices seemed overly high on certain proteins, and since this was far from fine dining its not warranted.

My wife and I decided to try Fluke for my 30th birthday dinner. We called for reservations earlier in the day and got one of the last tables. When we showed up our table wasnt close to being ready. We were offered complimentary wine and after 15 minutes offered another table. That table ended up being in a room with a very large, loud party and after our meal they moved our table and offered us complimentary dessert. The staff went out of their way to make up for things that were out of their control. The food is excellent. I had the duck empinaditas and the lambs chops and both very fantastic. The service is equally as excellent. Attentive, polite and hardworking. I would definitely recommend checking this place out for a nice candlelit dinner in Newport.

We loved this place! Went twice. The first night for drinks and appetizer, and the Seared Scallops with Watermelon Salad was so good (perfectly cooked scallops with a kind of cajun spice), we decided go back the second night. We sat at the bar and met owners Jeff and Jeremy (sp?) who are terrific people, chef Neil, and watched and talked U.S. Open tennis with the bartender (apologies, but I forgot his name) all night. The lobster and avocado salad is to die for; fabulous cheeses; the crostini marvelous, and the flank steak frites entree is terrific, as is the incredible potato salad which we had as a side dish (for any place this good to feature potato salad, we figured it had to be really good potato salad, and we figured right.)

I recently had dinner at Fluke. I was impressed by the decor and the view of the Newport waterfront. The lighting and the atmosphere are very conducive to an intimate dinner for two, and I think that drinks at the bar would be a great idea for a date. The service was also prompt, friendly, and attentive, going the extra mile to make sure that we were happy with our drink choices. That said, I found the menu to be a mixed bag. The desserts were wonderful -- I hate cheesecake, and I unreservedly recommend their goats cheesecake. The small plates were a mixed bag -- I spent a lot of time looking for the salt cod in the salt cod croquettes, and the coconut shrimp didnt have much taste, but the white bean soup was good.

One of my favorite restaurants in Newport. I always find the food entertaining in that it is always something I wouldnt/couldnt make at home because of the effort involved in the dish. Last time I went I had the Monk Fish which was delicious, I tasted the hanger steak which I also found delicious. One of the people was a vegan and had called ahead and they were very accommodating with a vegetable plate and desert made just for her. Attentive and friendly wait staff. The tables and seating give plenty of room so it doesnt feel like you are crowded. With the seating on the second and third floor you also dont get a blast of cold air in the winter whenever someone opens the door.

My wife and I were planning to go and eat at "The Mooring" on a busy Sunday night, but didnt have a reservation, so decided to check out couple more local restaurants. Didnt expect much by just walking to the first random restaurant at the wharfs, but were surprised to find an amazing food and beautiful views on the top floor of the building. Friendly stuff (including the owner of the restaurant who served us) and great selection of food. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some tasty modern american cuisine.
