The food here usually has a good taste, but a little on the pricey side. (i.e., a small sandwich for $6; no sides/chips) The owner/staff is/are very kind. The inside can be cramped on busy days because its very small inside. There is only one cook on some days, so the wait time can be a little longer than one might expect. My chief complaint is the way one smells when they leave the deli. Since it lacks any kind of a ventilation system, and the cook works in an open space, the smell of burnt grease lingers in the air. Whenever I visit, I leave smelling like a greasy cheeseburger. The Stage Deli would be top notch if they lowered their prices (or added some value to their sandwiches by adding a small side), and installed a ventilation system.

Great place to grab a sandwich at lunch. I have tried almost everything on their menu and dont have a complaint about the food. The line to the counter tends to get long, but that is the price you pay for it being a good and popular place. I wish they would improve the layout though...it is always awkward when you area standing and waiting for your food...you have no where to go...you are either in front of the beverage cooler in someones way, standing uncomfortably too close to someone at the tables, or in the staffs way at the point of sale. Not an easy fix with the tight space they are in.

Stage Deli is a great family run place in the heart of downtown York. I come here for breakfast every week. The breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. Darren takes great pride in providing food that is top quality, made to your order and at very affordable prices. Service is always great and I always feel welcome. I highly recommend giving it a try. You will be glad you came.

Service is generally fast and friendly. The daily specials (especially the Mac and Cheese) are generally good and reasonably priced. Only issue can be the lack of seating, but overall a great lunch option for York.
