Ok so I’m not a fan of Rockfish Public House. Lots of high-top tables with uncomfortable steel stools. A bit dark and also noisy. Very industrial feel with corrugated tin walls and plumbing fixture lighting. Not to mention it kinda smells like a dock at low tide. What I really mean to say - it is overpriced. We eat out… all the time, and do not balk at spending a dollar on a good meal. The food at Rockfish is ok – it is good, for what you pay? – that’s a different matter. There is nothing new or exciting here – there is no innovation, it is basic sea food and a raw bar. The interior is not comfortable – the service seemed harried. Honestly the entire time I was there I kept trying to figure out why I should be spending all this money here – when we could have eaten at a Bonefish or Joes Crab… they seem to be at the same level. (actually we would have preferred Bonefish) There is a bar but the drinks really aren’t all that special…Across the street Otto’s makes artisanal cocktails that are just short of awesome! 38 dollars for a filet at Rockfish, the same price as Left Bank just next door. Left Bank is comfortable and romantic – the service is professional and calculated. The food is innovative and you can tell someone cares and is taking great pride in what they do and what they are serving. You get none of this at Rockfish and you will pay the same price if not more. There are a number of first class 4 star restaurants around York, - Otto’s, the Left Bank, the Acomac, and Sydney to name a few – here you will be treated well and fed a wonderful meal artfully prepared all at just about the same price point. The food at Rockfish is good - but that is just about it. Honestly we saw enough our first visit here that we really feel we don’t need to be returning. We can get a much more satisfying experience elsewhere.

First let me start off and say that I am a huge food critic and very picky of where I go to eat. With that being said, my wife and I decided to go here for a night without the kids. Fantastic !! This restaurant has a very casual and modern setting, with dim lighting. The menu is selective if you like seafood, and it has a moderate drink selection. The waiter was informative and friendly, as well as the bar tender. Ok, now the important stuff, the food was delicious. I got the blackened grouper, which was probably the best prepared fish I ever had. My wife got the crab cake, which was all lump meat with no filler. We had a BBQ shrimp skewer to start which was also very good. We finished off with a shared piece of Smith Island cake, which I had to fight my wife for my shared portion. I know I cant speak for the whole menu, but as much as I was impressed with our meals, I have every bit of confidence that everything is good. Im looking forward to our next dinner there. Hope this rating helps!

My wife and I made reservations for a table, not a booth. When we got there, while there were several open tables, we were shown to a small booth in the corner. My wife reminded them about the reservation for a table, and the best they offered was a table by the bar. When I brought up the several open tables, the male hostess said they were for others who reserved tables. We reminded them we had a reservation for a table, but they wouldnt budge. No customer service or respect for our reservation.

My husband and I dined here for the first time tonight. He ordered the Wagyu burger and loved it. I ordered the American Hero. It came out burnt. I had to pick of all the breading to salvage some of the fish. When I told our waitress about it, she removed it from the bill. We will most likely give it another try in the future.

I absolutely loved the food. I ordered the Lump Crab Stuffed Lobster Tail. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. My family and friends knows I am addicted to seafood, this was the best. My only complaint is the lighting. I like to take pictures of my food and it was to dark in the establishment. I WILL BE RETURNING

Great downtown York location. We sat right in the front by the windows with a view of downtown activity. The food was good - enjoyed the Clam Wrap. One strange thing on the menu was that you could only order a Bowl of soup, not a Cup of soup. A little flexibility would be nice.

I love the service staff and they have an excellent happy hour. All the food I have tried is delicious and the drink prices are (generally) reasonable. The seafood is fresh and the oysters are great! I definitely plan on coming back regularly.

A large cavernous venue done in commonplace industrial (see Iron Horse just a few doors away). Not very cheerful or inviting. BUT, the food was outstanding. My wife and I had lobster salad rolls (lobster rolls in New England). They were great.

I heard this place had a rocky start during its open. I decided to try it out and found myself right back at this place the next weekend. The food and atmosphere are amazing both upstairs and down. I look forward to going back again.

Steak was delicious, and far east oysters were good as well. Lobster roll not as good as at the beach, but decent. They put in a nice amount of lobster and the bread ratio a good too. Would eat here again

Had a great time. Calamari is the best I have had outside of Spain. Super fun to sit and pick crabs without having to drive to the beach. Great local vodka. ..holla to the Hollla.

Pleasant atmosphere, but too loud for a date night conversation. Food was very good and a decent selection of craft drafts. Id happily go back but with different expectations.

I tried 4 different preparations of oysters and all were fantastic. My only real complaint is how VERY NOISY it is and hard to talk to anyone even sitting close together.

Tasty food with a good selection. Trendy vibe here. Pricey meals, but the food is very good and has the "Top Chef" look to it.
