As seems to be the case with many other reviewers, Ive had consistently poor service here. Ive been to all of the most popular bars in town and many of the other "local" joints that range in quality from upscale to hole-in-the-wall, and none can compare to the awful service and unprofessionalism demonstrated by the staff at Quips. After going to Quips about 10 times over a span of a few months, I will never go back. The last time I was there, a buddy of mine started to feel ill so he stopped ordering drinks and frequently had to go outside for some fresh air. He would have simply left, but he was DDing for two other friends in the bar, and didnt want to leave them to find a cab (a sometimes daunting task in Lancaster). At the end of the night, as we began to leave after paying our sizable tab and leaving a much larger-than-earned tip, the bartenders started trashing him for not drinking more and for leaving the bar to sit on their own deck a couple times during the night. Ive never heard of a bar being upset with a designated driver for not drinking a lot -- much less a DD that got sick off of their filthy food. And Ive never before or since seen a bartender berate a customer like they did that night even when dealing with some of the most indignant customers possible. There are a few good bars in Lancaster. This is definitely not one of them.

BEWARE: Check your bills carefully! I received my itemized bill, paid with a credit card, and received a signature copy with a noticeably higher amount on it, and not for tip or tax. I questioned this and was told it was an error. I received a corrected copy and was satisfied…until it happened AGAIN months later. Unbelievable. In the mere minutes that passed between receiving my bill > card payment > signature copy, my bill had increased 20%. The explanation was that a creme brûlée had been accidentally added to my bill in that timespan. I can buy this accident story once, but twice? I felt we were being taken advantage of. And if we weren’t, this disorganization will prove quite lucrative to Quips’ bottom line. It pains me to write this. We have loved Quips for so many years, but these two latest incidents--alongside rising prices, decreasing portion sizes (R.I.P chips of “fish and chips”), and poor service recently--sadly make me very reluctant to visit again soon.

What a great evening! Our family was meeting at quips for dinner and to coordinate our familys secret Santa exchange for this year. The place was absolutely packed yet the service was impecable. We had both a server and Im guessing a floor manager checking on us throughout the evening and despite the hectic atmosphere never rushed us or display any signs of stress. Our meals were fantastic. The Tikka Masala was utterly amazing. As all of us enjoyed our desserts of creme Brulee and cheesecake the floor Manager stopped by with a sample of the sticky toffee pudding for us to try! What a nice gesture and truly indicitave of outstanding service both during our visit and to entice future visits as well. Thank you quips for a wonderful evening and we will continue to be your guests in the years to come!

Doesnt look like much from the outside but inside is a charming and relaxed English style pub. Fish and chips in newspaper are their flagship as well as a glass mug of Lager. Nice staff and great tap list. You can smoke out on the porch or enjoy your beer out there. I spent most of my 20s hanging out in this bar and never had a bad time. They also have real darts if thats your thing. If you like Quips check out the Bulls Head in Lititz, its like its fancier older brother.

I love Quips! The food is excellent and the draft selection is on par; Magners and Fullers all the time! My husband is from England so we frequent here so he can have a feeling of home. We love it so much we had a our small intimate wedding reception right in the pub in October if 2015. Fish n Chips for all! His mother visited from England and she approves! The only thing missing to complete the real English Pub feel are the "Caution: Asbestos" signs! :)

All I can say is if youre in Lancaster you have to go to Quips Pub. This is a local gem! From the charming decor to the scrumptious menu options, you are in for a treat. The bartenders are beyond attentive and make great recommendations. The wait staff are conscientious and friendly, I cant say enough great things. All in all, the service here is impeccable. They get packed, especially on weekend evenings, so consider calling ahead to reserve a table.

My fiancé and I were visiting Lancaster for the weekend and we wanted to go to a new type of restaraunt. We went to Quips and it was amazing!!! The beet salad, whiskey fries, and crab cake was to die for. Plus they have an amazing beer selection and the staff was super nice! Our waitress and the chef were so good to us!! Try the toffee dessert, its big enough for two!

Quips is great, its like a home away from home... Food is great, some of it can get expensive... but its worth it. Best visited in winter months as the food tends to be very hearty. Beer selections rotate regularly with half the taps remaining standards (Guinness, Smithwicks, Harp, Magners, Fullers ESB & Hoegaarden almost always there).

Quips is a quaint English-themed bar a bit outside of downtown. The food is generally good, especially the English-style portion of the menu. The beer selection is okay. Biggest complaint is that it gets very crowded. The crowd is usually young professionals to middle-aged people from the nearby neighborhoods.

Great spot for a cold brew and a hot meal. It can get packed, so make reservations or get there eay if you want a good table. Their wings on Monday night are awesome. Ive also had the Scotch Egg, Chicken Tiki Masala, Bangers and Mashed, Corned Beef n Cabbage, and their flagship Fish Chips - all excellent...

My boyfriend and I make it a point to come to Quips whenever we are in PA. If were in Hamburg well drive a whole hour just to eat there. Hands down the best wings weve had anywhere on Long Island and the atmosphere is like no other! Were heading to PA this weekend and Quips is one of our first stops!

Fantastic casual pub atmosphere, great bartenders and servers, good beer selection, fun crowd. Bar crowd shuffles in around 10pm, mostly 20s and 30s, smart people. No frat boys and bar hoes. Love this place.

Very good food, excellent service. Staff is very knowledgeable about gluten free options. Large beer selection. Very reasonable prices. Will add to my lists of must stops when traveling near Lancaster.

Cozy, friendly, and affordable. Also the closest thing Lancaster has to a real British pub, which is nice. Especially good if you want pre-dinner drinks before going to Cork and Cap across the street.
