Visited the establishment on Friday night. My husband and I were looking for a new place to have a few drinks and a bite to eat while meeting new people. We walked in, pasted the patio area and asked could we sit outside. We were told we could and could seat ourselves and someone would be right with us. About 3-4 minutes later, a gentleman comes over with 2 glasses of water. Problem number 1, he never greater us, just sat there glasses on the table and walked away. Problem number 2, we had to wait for him to come back, empty handed and ask for menus. Now, as we are sitting there, I notice the outside of our glasses are full of condensation & barely no ice. He never asks us can he start us off with a drink or appetizers....he just looks at us with this blank look. So as Im looking over the menu, I ask my husband to ask him for 2 fresh glasses of water. My husband does so and his response was, "fresh water?", so my husband says, "yes, fresh water!". So now, Im uneasy and now Im watching him. He takes the 2 glasses from the table and places them behind so plates on the outdoor station. He grabs to glasses from a stack, puts ice in them and here comes problem number 3! He looks over at our table, as if to make sure we dont see what hes about to do. I pretend to look away and engage with my husband, all the while still watching him. He reaches for those same 2 glasses he brought to the table originally and pours the water from those glasses into the 2 he had put ice in. At this point, I was done and ready to go...and thats just what we did! If you have a problem with giving your Patriots fresh water, whats going on in that kitchen? I cannot say the food or drinks were bad, because I wasnt able to experience it. But because of how our service began, I dont think I will even know. We must do better, customer service goes a long way!!! It sets the tone for your business. Without it, you will have no business, or at lease not for long.

Bluejacket has an awesome industrial-chic feel to it with lots of windows and a great, open bar area. They make delicious, flavorful beers and I find them to be reasonably priced for the quality. However, the food here isnt as good. Granted, I only ate here for lunch, but I was very disappointed nonetheless. We started with their tater tots, which were unlike any Ive had before - they were large cubes with almost a mashed potato center. I prefer regular tater tots that are smaller with more delicious crispy breading. For my meal, I ordered the veggie burger, which was probably one of the worst veggie burgers Ive had. While the flavor was ok, it had a terrible mushy texture that blended in with the bread. My friend ordered a chicken burger that he realized was undercooked once he was halfway through - Im talking a completely pink middle. My other friend had the kale caesar salad, which was loaded with more anchovies than I have ever seen on a salad before. Luckily I love anchovies, so she gave them to me, however her entire salad just tasted of fish and she could only manage to eat about 1/3 of it. I would come back here for the beer, but probably would not eat here again.

Ive been to Bluejacket Brewery twice now and have had a great time during both visits. I havent yet done the actual brewery tour, but that is on my list of things to do. The space itself is nice with a community atmosphere. There are group tables, a long bar, and large booths in the bar area. Noise level isnt out of control, but if it is busy, it will naturally be louder. They have a large number of their own brews on hand at all times. You can do sample snifters for $2-$4 or full pours for a few bucks more. The samples are a great way to go if you dont know what you like, or if you like a lot and just want to try as many brews as possible. I highly recommend my favorite beer so far, Mexican Radio; a chocolatey mole porter with a very smooth finish-not too heavy. There is also a signature barrel of Knob Creek bourbon that was hand selected by their sommelier during a visit to the distillery. I dont drink a lot of bourbon, but this was a real treat. Lots of great food from finger-food appetizers to sandwiches to main course plates for dinner.

I am so happy this place has finally opened. Its places like this that will help put Washington, D.C. on the beer market map. The space they have used is incredible and you can spend a good while just looking around. The graphic work for each beer label is also impressive, and deciding what to get first is the most difficult thing I did all night. I decided to go with the 4 ounces samplers and tasted almost all their beers throughout the night. I got the juicy Lucy burger to eat, which was okay. I have Minnesota family and have had the original juicy Lucys, and unfortunately, Bluejackets was not one of them. Everything else we got was good though. Only other negative is how crowded the bar is, standing room 5 deep at the bar. Hopefully that changes as other places begin to open up in the area. Make sure to grab some bottles to go now that they are bottling! You can get it from the bar or from Buzz Bakery next door.

I had the Beef Short Ribs. My food was a 5 at best. My food was cool. And regarding the items making up the dish: 1) the cabbage was very overcooked even though the menu says balsamic braised cabbage. Also, the menu should say it is red cabbage. This dish side dish is like "rotkohl" in Germany but this one was like the one that comes out of a jar. 2) The spaetzle was undercooked, and not very rich tasting (perhaps, not enough egg yolks). And, 3) the meat was bland and with a texture like beef stew from a pressure cooker. Being a short rib cooked for 18 hours, I expected something crispy with a unique taste. We all loved the atmosphere and our waitress was very good. When I wrote, I was told I should have contacted a manager immediately and that " I hope you will give us another chance to get it right." Sorry, I never like to get a replacement meal once Ive had bad food....just ruins the night.

If you expect to welcome guests after a baseball game in the summer, please turn up the air conditioning! I was so brutally, miserably, unforgivably hot last Saturday -- with no place to sit (although I saw tables stand empty the entire hour I was there), and the servers (trying to be kind) continually telling me to move, while I tried to find some place, any place, to stand and get air while my son and I waited for our reserved table to open up. We finally left, because appealing as the food looked on the plates that passed me, I could not imagine eating anything in a room that was SO HOT. Im sure theres a market of very young people who dont mind being HOT, and of course its understandable to have slow service after a Nats game. But I couldnt be happier to leave, get on the Metro, and have a real meal among pleasant people in an air-conditioned room in the city. In a room that wasnt HOT.
