Although we dont eat dinner out often, when we do, Bel Paese is always mentioned early when we start making our "Where do you want to go?" list. And, quite often, it ends up at the top of our list. Why? Because, over the years, we have yet to have even one moderately negative experience there. The food is, without question, top rate. Imaginative menu items that are expertly prepared by someone who obviously has been schooled in "the way it was made in my Mamas kitchen" school of Italian cooking. Seasoned to perfection, with a rich, home made flavor, and served to you with a presentation that makes you want to grab your phone and snap a picture...but you dont, because tasting your dinner is much more important than taking a picture of it. And...If you really want a picture...Well...just visit Bel Paese again. Your next dinner will be just as beautiful and delicious as your first. The dining room is quiet, and clean, and absolutely lovely with both tables and booths, set with real linen napkins and dishes and utensils that match. I know that it may sound superficial to care about such things, but really, its the little things that make the whole experience special, right? And, Bel Paese Italian Ristorante isnt one of those places that we need to "save up" for. Dinners there are reasonably priced...especially when you consider the quantity and quality of the meal you are getting. Actually...writing this has made me hungry. Maybe we will visit Bel Paese for lunch. Ive enjoyed their wonderful dinner menu many times, Their lunches and sandwiches have got to be amazing... I will let you know!

When I visit a new restaurant, the first thing I try to order is a Caesar salad. You can tell a lot about a place from a simple salad. The dressing was delicious, homemade, and authentic (raw egg and all!), however, the salad greens were brown around the edges. Croutons were a bit hard and they were a bit shy with the parmesan. Wasnt overdressed, which is a huge plus. Had a calamari appetizer, which was so rubbery that it was like eating fried hose gaskets. Marinara was really tasty though. Garlic cheese bread appetizer was nice. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken (another basic test of an Italian place). It was average. Plus side, they drained the pasta correctly so there was no pool of water under my pasta, sauce was not greasy, and the pasta was nicely cooked. Minus side, the little bits of chicken were dry and overcooked and the portion size was small compared to what we paid for it. There was an odd sweetness to the sauce, which I didnt enjoy, but that is more my personal taste. I prefer more garlic flavor in my Alfredo. The other thing that really bothered me was when I asked for parmesan cheese, I was brought a bowl of what looks like the kind of thing you get at a grocery store in a shaker, that had probably been on countless other tables up to that point. The place is very dark and drab, and the decor hasnt been updated since probably the early 80s. This place would be an excellent candidate for the Restaurant Impossible t.v. show. The culinary basics are certainly there, but the menu and decor could use a huge overhaul and update.

I was extremely disappointed with this place. When we walked in the front the door we saw the sign "please wait to be seated" Ok, so we waited, and waited, and waited. 4 different people walked past us and looked at us, not a single on acknowledged us or said well be with you in one moment. Looking in to the dining room, they were not that busy that no one could say well be with you. There were 7 or 8 tables that were occupied. Just as we were turning to walk out the door, someone came to seat us. Then he just pointed in the general direction he wanted us to go, didnt even take us to our seats so when we sat where we thought had meant he says "I didnt mean there I meant here and pointed to another table. So we moved. ok, whatever. the waitress wasnt too terrible. But the fact that I could see her hot pink bra through her shirt because she couldnt button buttons, was not very classy. So we ordered, I got 5 ravioli for $10 which ok, they were large, but were like rubber. My husband got a pasta dish with shrimp, scallops and clams in it. His seafood was cooked ok, but once again, the pasta, not so much. Ive never been so disappointed with a restaurant before in my life. The best part was leaving. I will never go back. And I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Even the atmosphere was bad. There was crayon all over the walls behind our table. Such a HUGE disappointment.

I ordered in, with delivery from carryout courier. Carryout courier was great, the food was awful. I ordered carbonara that had no flavor and the eggs in the sauce were scrambled. I paid 6.00 for 2 sides of spinach w/garlic. Aside from the price being crazy, there was not one stitch of garlic in the dish, What there was a lot of was oil. It took up half the container, and between the two orders, there was less than 1/2 cup of sad looking spinach. We also ordered the fried eggplant app, that was fried beyond recognition. I was able to squeeze out oil from the eggplant since it was not cooked right. The eggplant was soggy ( I realize this was delivery, but they could cut a hole in the container to make it stay crispy- common sense) and had zero flavor. It was just simply inedible. We also ordered a chicken sandwich to have for lunch the next day. It was 5.50 for a 3 inch sandwich. We have ordered this before and they were much larger. This was not our first bad experience with them. This will be however the last time I throw away 100.00 on food that is not worth it. I would stay away!!!!

My husband and I love Bel Paese - it is our favorite restaurant! We live in Northern Baltimore County and frequently have dinner there. The ambiance is warm, cozy and friendly and the food is consistently spectacular - we never go to Little Italy in Baltimore anymore because the food is just so fantastic at Bel Paese. From the warm, homemade bread served with the best olive oil we have ever tasted, to the fresh, cold salads, wonderful appetizers, to the incredible entrees and desserts, it is an A++++ experience. The wait staff is marvelous - so friendly and professional. Our favorite person is the owner, Antonella, who is beautiful and so welcoming to all. We truly feel that this is the perfect restaurant and the perfect Italian dining experience in US (yes, that includes chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco!) and to everyone we have recommended it to, they love it just as much. Try it and you will love it, too!

I will NEVER GO BLACK HERE! Pulled a bait and switch on me with a price of my order then argues with me when I pointed out what I ordered and the price. Waiter was incredibly rude, management even worse. Also food quality inconsistent and atmosphere is poor. Constantly having people walk by to pick up carry out orders. Parmesan cheese is just left out in bowls and moved from table to table. People put their fingers in there and then they give the same cheese to another table when you the last people leave. Gross
