Words cannot express how upset I am at Annas Italian restaurant today. I am talking about the Annas at 1156 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA. I can promise you we will never be back there, and I advise anyone who wants good or even half way decent customer service to avoid going as well. We were bragging how good their pizza was and talked everyone into going there for lunch today. We started out with decent service, the waitress was nice, and was quick in getting our drinks to us. We should have guessed the manager wasnt that great, when we ordered the sampler appetizer and cut into raw chicken strips. The waitress let us know she would let her manager know. She did take it off the bill, but we never saw the manager. I was willing to move on from that, because sometimes that can happen no matter how good a restaurant normally is. What made me upset though, was when my niece was wanting my husband to hold her, and as he was picking her up the back of his chair bent backwards causing the chair to fall back. My husband in attempting to keep my niece from being hurt took the brunt of the damage hitting his neck and shoulders on the table behind us. That made the manager come out, but instead of apologizing to us and making sure everyone was ok, her immediate response was "what were you doing in the chair?" Not once did she ask if he was ok, or apologize for that happening. It isnt as if my husband is so large that the chair couldnt handle his weight, it was just a faulty chair. The chair breaking on him wasnt even what upset me. We would have moved on had she just apologized, but we got nothing. When it was time to pay, I let the manager know that I would not be returning to this restaurant because of how poor the customer service was with my husband being injured. She claimed that she did apologize, but there was six people sitting at our table, and not one person heard her. I told her this and her reply was "Well you would think it would be common sense not to scoot a chair back on carpet." I replied that "You would think it would be common sense to provide chairs that dont break for your customers, and I am not sure how you expect us to get up from the table without scooting the chairs back." At that point she demanded payment, which wasnt even the issue, I wanted an apology for the treatment not a free meal. What made it worse was instead of handing the card back to me she flung it at me, like I wasnt even worth that much respect. I could understand somewhat if I had raised my voice and made a scene, but I did not. She claimed to be the store owner, to which I let her know I would do all in my power to make sure everyone knows not to go to a place that treats their customers so poorly.

In summary, our baby shower party of 12 were ran out of the restaurant in the middle of eating dinner and were being threatened and insulted by our waitress. Extremely RUDE staff. Insinuating we were not going to pay for our bill. (TOTALLY FALSE! we bought whole pies, wine, sandwiches, sides, cakes, etc) Here is our story: We asked the owner of Annas, regarding our circumstances (baby shower and individual checks), if it were okay to host a party of 10-15. No charges for space or minimum check requirements were established with the owner, so we agreed to set the reservation for today (Sunday, April 21st 6PM). Our waitress brought out our orders and rushed us out, immediately handing us our checks. She demanded that we leave before the cops were called. We did not understand why, for we were in the middle of eating and in the middle of a surprise sex baby shower dinner. She insisted that we had a minimum check requirement for $100 that was unmet and that she had received word that we were not going to pay our checks or tip our waitresses. This is ultimately false, for we CHOSE ANNAs specifically for dinner instead of hosting it at one of our homes because we heard the food was amazing and planned to indulge as paying customers. Also, we manually added up all of our checks and it came out to OVER $115. After we told her this, she then said that we were being kicked out because not all of us were ordering. Two guests left after 15 minutes because they had to go to work, every one else ordered dinner, and the only person who did not order food, ordered a glass of wine with the intention of having more than one glass. Our waitress then proceeded to tell us that, "we are not a banquet service" and that they booked the place and allowed us in their establishment "under false pretenses". We have never been more humiliated in our lives. Especially in celebrating something as beautiful as a baby-shower, the gift of life. I feel that the Better Business Bureau should be aware that ANNAs Italian Restaurant on Big Bethel gave me the most unprofessional and degrading service Ive ever experienced in my 24 years living in Hampton, VA. I was born and raised here and have a fair amount of food service and specialty food business experience under my belt. I acquired this experience before during and after pursing my degree at Virginia Tech and am completely appalled at the way we were treated. We all personally plan to speak with the owner in regards to our horrible experience in hopes that he/she performs the corrective measures necessary to ensure that this never happens again to any of their guests.""

The pizza is great I order from this place every other week, the Only thing i dont find appealing. Is there customer service, I was placed on hold without even saying please hold and I was waiting for five minutes until someone just hung up the call. I called back the the lady there is just beyond rude. Im calling to get good pizza and also a little bit of a courtesy response because if you want tips you have to at least talk like you care for youre customers and be polite. Overall the customer service needs to be worked on or take a training class on how to be polite. I dont think I will be ordering from this place. It definitely takes presentation to keep having the customer coming back for more. There is another location and honestly I rather take the fifteen minute drive. Someone needs to rehire a new owner or something because good food should not be jeapordize on behalf of crappy service. Either way never a F***ing gain

I am writing this review to let everyone know that not once but twice in the same month there have been fights just outside of the restaraunt, im talking cursing, yelling, running, drag down fights. The fights would not have been so upsetting if they were not between the family members who work there in the rest. like the people who work there and make and serve your food! How inappropriate. The police were called one time we went and we ended up leaving and not even getting out of the car for fear of our safety and the next time we went and were leaving when it started. Besides that I have ordered the same salad there five times and had it made five different ways. hummmm. Not going back after the two fights between the workers right out front. This is NOT a friendly place!
