I was there a few years back working a job in PA. I was staying at the Red Roof Inn close by for a few weeks. Me and my associate would occasionally drop in for breakfast or lunch. The prices were absolutely amazing, and we always expected good food. But time and time again, we came to realize that it wasnt just an off day, the food was just consistently not good. Maybe they have improved since then, I hope they have. Also the owner, or manager on duty was always so off putting. He would just sit at the bar and stare at us, which made the food taste even worse. I get he was probably just trying to make us feel welcome and taken care of, but when he takes over his waiter/waitresses job it just gets to be too much. The last time we had breakfast there it was a complete disgrace. The food was awful. Not exaggerating, it was disgusting. I couldnt even eat more than one bite. We paid our tabs and left. I get its not really a breakfast/lunch type place, its more of a dinner type/late night type place, but.... why offer breakfast and lunch? After giving them several chances I just stopped going there. tl;dr, Bad food, real bad food. Service was great when we werent interrupted by the manager, or owner... or whatever he thought he was. Ditkas isnt far away, Id suggest that for a decent lunch or an actually palatable dinner.

Horrible experience. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich and asked if I could have fries instead of coleslaw. I wouldve gladly paid an up-charge as every other restaurant Ive ever been to has allowed me to do. The waitress told me this was absolutely impossible and if I wanted a different side Id have to pay full price. I was unwilling to pay $3.00 for an additional side when I was already getting a side, even if I didnt want it. The waitress messed up my friends order despite my friend repeating it several times. When our meal was finally over and she brought the check, the waitress stared at us (I assume trying to encourage us to hurry up and pay) until she finally decided to take our payment instead of us going to the counter to pay. That seemed very courteous until she stood at the table while we tipped and signed the check. I and both of my friends were very uncomfortable. I read great reviews and was very hopeful about going to this restaurant for the first time, but of my whole meal I was only able to eat half my sandwich. Of course I wont return somewhere that wont let me have what I want to eat and then tops it off with poor service. I recommend going elsewhere if you dislike coleslaw as much as I do, because you cant have anything else and it comes with most meals

First time at the Central Diner and everything was excellent. Huge portions as others pointed out. The thing that stood out the most was the staff. We ordered a cheeseburger for our 2.5 y/o daughter. When it came she took a bite and said she didnt like it. There was nothing wrong with the burger at all, it tasted great, she was just being picky. My wife was giving her chicken from her salad when the server came over and offered us more chicken breast because our daughter didnt like the burger. We declined as there was plenty of chicken. A few minutes later the manager came over and asked if we would like another burger. We explained that there was nothing wrong, just that she was being picky. He then told us he would take it off of our bill. That right there is what I call excellent customer service. It was absolutely no fault of theirs that our daughter didnt like the burger yet he didnt charge us. He definitely made us customers for life.

I REALLY want to give this place more stars, Id like to give it more than 5 stars based on the food, and the staff. However, my experience was completely ruined by the owner publicly reprimanding the staff right at the front door with guest right in front of him. He yelled at the staff several times in front of the guests. Furthermore seeing him tell a guest "thats not what I asked you." Is not only unwelcoming, but unprofessional! The food was great, the staff provided excellent service, pricing was perfect, clean and bright atmosphere! If only the owner would be more professional and handle things in the appropriate manner this would have been the perfect dining experience! In closing a final message to the owner, you may not realize this but when the public see you act in this manner they are less likely to return. Maybe you were just having a bad day.

Young lady working register /hostess one of the rudest, condescending employees ive met in a long time. Stayed at a motel next door where front desk said to show room key for 10% discount. Think i ate there 4 times in 8days and everytime i showed the key she would roll her eyes or smugly say you dont have to give me that. Just was holding it to show her. Last time she said in a wise tone "so youre staying at the Red Roof" and i jabbed back "what gave it away the room key in my hand?" Must be nice in this economy to treat visitors in the area shabby. Probably brokered discount deal when they were written up by the board of health last year when im sure business fell off. google it the first thing that comes up

I came here for lunch during a work meeting in Robinson and the service was great, I just wasnt a huge fan of the meal I got. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which had great flavors but I was hoping for the chicken to be less breaded. If you dont like hot foods, this wrap isnt for you. It packed some heat but for me thats one of the things that I liked about it. It was a large meal and the sweet potato fries were amazing. The location was convenient since it was relatively close to the meeting location and allowed for a comfortable lunch within the hour time frame I had. I wouldnt really say this was a true diner experience but for what they offered for food and drink options were nice.

We stopped there based on the recommendation of our hotel desk clerk. She said they have good food with generous portions for not an arm and a leg. We had French Onion soup - excellent! followed by the hot roast beef and hot turkey sandwiches. OMG! What huge portions! We could have shared one and would have if we knew how much we were getting. The food was delicious, but we just could not finish it all. We also had the coleslaw which was also excellent. If we lived in Pittsburgh wed be frequent visitors to Central. Give it a try - you wont be sorry.

Love the place. I am personally drawn to this place because of their Greek Food. Their Greek salad is the best one I have had by a mile. Service is always good and I am sure that their home made pies are just as good although I have never found myself with room to get to them. Highly recommend. The staff is courteous and nice. The owner/manager could smile a little bit more if you ask me as he looks as if he is always unhappy. On the other hand, he always have treated us with respect and grace although you can see that he is a very busy man...
