My 20 year old daughter was traveling on the PA Turnpike this summer. She left our home in Cleveland on her way to Lancaster PA. Unfortunately, she forgot her purse and all her money. When she found out that she was almost out and gas and pulled up to a service station she realized what she had done. Calling home for help, my wife and I called the service station trying to give them a credit card over the phone. They would not help us. We then called around the area looking for other stations but did not have any luck. I called Summit Diner and spoke with the owner Doug. He understood our dilemma and agreed to take our card number over the phone and gave my daughter $30.00. Doug is a kind and compassionate man. I have not eaten at the Summit Diner but I will make an effort to do so. If you read this review please thank Doug for his kindness to our family and remember the kindness that the owner displayed to a family in need. Andy Wyatt

I went to the Summit Diner with my every time when we made the drive out to Gettysburg - Im not sure what made us pull off the highway the first time but we sure pulled off every other time, breakfast and lunch, there and back. Great greasy breakfast (ask about the scrapple!) and burgers the size of your head. Had the fried chicken dinner one time and it did not disappoint, the pie is as good as it looks and the milkshakes are thick enough to stop a team of mules. Big bay windows overlooking the motel, the Harley Davidsons, the truck stop and the highway junction and it feels like youre sitting right at the crossroads of America. They expanded the diner since the nineties and it is objectively better, cleaner bathrooms, more seating brighter lighting, wider menu. Everything still tastes great but Id be lying if I said I didnt miss the rougher edges of the old place. Even so, Ill still pull off the highway every time.

Recently refurbished with new booths. But a lot of the old parts of this lovely chrome diner. If youre a real diner afficionado, its a "Swingle" diner built in 1960. Beautiful chrome detailing throughout and great old floors. The neon sign outside appears original. The front part is the original but they have added a brick addition to the back. The food itself is diner fare, sandwiches, burgers etc. One glance at the pie case should keep you there. About 12 different pies were available when I visited including something called a "Gob Cake" which our waitress described as a "moonpie" in pie form. Delish! The service was great. Fast and thorough. Really the only place worth stopping at in a town filled with chain stops.

Can not review the food because I was not waited on I think this just a place for locals I came in on a saturday about 930am somewhat after a morning breakfast rush the place was not that busy and I really wanted a good breakfast I could have had a free one at my hotel but thought it would be nice to have a real good start to the day. When I walked in I was not greeted but that was ok it was a dinner so went and sat down at a table started to look at a menu as I was checking out what I wanted a couple came in after me was greeted and was being servied then another man came in sat at the bar and he was placing his order I waited about 7 minutes but figured that they where not interested in me or my money and left.

Nicely done. Great little place in Somerset. Weve passed this a few times and finally stopped this camping trip. Belreakfast is served all day and the pie selection is incredible. The updated diner look is very much appreciated and the bathrooms were clean. The service was a tad bit slow which is why Im giving it 3 instead of 4 stars however our waitress had the dinner spunk and was very pleasant. If you are planning to stop by ,you wont be disappointed. Just plan for a little extra time here. I will definitely be back.

Its unfortunate that the current management has made the place why wife and I met, one so instrumental in my adolescence that I planned on getting the sign tattooed on me, one we ate at least once a week so inhospitable to a particular segment of clients. I have refused to spend any money at the establishment for nearly a year, and will refuse to do so again until the business is sold. I can only hope that played some part in the cutting of hours of operation.

Delicious! We had Burgers, turkey sandwich, and BLT. Very large portions. Best of all was the GOB cake. To die for! Its like HoHo cake but the chocolate cake was thicker and moister and the white filling was heavenly. It was a huge. Judy was our waitress and she was great! Prices are very reasonable. Well worth the stop and just down the street from the turnpike exit. Dont go to fast food, check out Summit Diner, clean, quick, friendly & delicious!

I gave this place 3 stars and thats only because the food is pretty good. The only downfall to this place is one of the waitresses. Every time Ive had her she acts as though being a server is terrible. She threw straws down, walked away before we could finish ordered, and acted as though everything we asked for was a total chore. I like the place, but please train your staff or get some new help.

Cant see why any of the fast food places in town are still open. 10 stars ...Food is better then great, the staff is even better one of the friendliest places. I travel over 100k miles a year changing route just to stop there again. Note got there 10 min after closing we where still welcome and told to take our time eating since they had to clean for a while.

Will never suggest this place to anyone ever!!! The older woman there harassed us about my husbands service animal and we were trying to show her his certification and still denied us service! She was very rude and ignorant... My husband served this country for 10 years in the Marine Corps and now has a seizure alert/PTSD alert fully trained service dog...

Man what a great place in a small town with not many options. We have been to Summit twice in the past two months and both times the food has been amazing! The menu has a variety of options and the girls serving us have been top notch! If you are in the area and looking for some home cooked comfort food this is the place!
