After visiting the Ice Rink, my wife and I strolled into Old City to grab some dinner. Almost missed Zento except for the specials sign. The place was just absolutely beautiful. The decorating touches were all pulled together to make an intimate yet modern statement and definitely set the tone for a relaxed meal. From the saki to the soups, sashimi and sushi, it was all delicious. In fact, the Salmon sashimi was the best ive ever eaten. Even though the restaurant was half full that evening, the service was attentive and professional. Zento even had great touches like the charging station located next to the restrooms in case your electronic device needs a charge. We are in Philly about once a month and cant wait to return for another chance to enjoy this new found gem. Definitely 5 STARS!

Romantic candle-lit rear dining room, rustic brick walls, narrow Tokyo-style bar, and impeccable service. The owners are typically there on the weekends, as attentive to detail as when they opened. I come here a lot because I know the owners really take care in everything from the food prep, to the wine list, to selecting great sake. Every time Ive gone, Ive experienced nothing short of excellent sushi, and quality service. And it goes without saying that the owners have done an excellent job recreating the feel of a true sushi/sashimi bar from Tokyo. If you want to take a date for sushi, this is definitely the place to go, and make sure you sit in the back.

Fantastic, fresh, interesting. Staff wasnt put off, & was accommodating, when we requested a different table than we were originally directed to. Ordered a ton of sushi & every wave of food that came out was equally fresh & delicious. In a lively neighborhood with many places to visit after dinner for drinks, extensive craft beer lists & billiards. Note: Zento has its own parking lot (which we didnt know about, so spent $20 on parking) & they validate.

Had a wonderful time.. Sushi tasted very fresh, the lychee mojito was to die for.. Great ambiance ... ... Although, midway through my second cocktail my date pointed out what was to be a mouse running along the floor. Even though the food was great, I will not be returning due to pest infestation. Please take care of this matter. I see Im not the only person, who has observed this. Call an EXTERMINATOR!!!!

Zento is one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. I come here a few times a month and try to order something new every time, and have yet to find anything short of fantastic. They have a large liquor selection and a fantastic bar tender. The staff is incredibly kind and the atmosphere is a nice mix of modern and old, which is perfect for this section of the city.

I had a wonderful time celebrating my brithday with my girlfriend at Zento. The food was excellent and the sushi tasted very fresh - the sake list was great... But...... all of that came crashing to a halt when my girlfriend and I saw a mouse run across the floor right after we finished eating. Zento has great food, but they need to call an exterminator.

Absolutely phenomenal customer service! Took my wife there for a 7 course meal on her birthday. The staff made it a really great experience. And the food was really amazing, lots of flavor, and impeccable presentation. The menu was not overwhelming but still had lots of variety. We will definitely be back.

Very good sushi and other prepared dishes. Best dish Ive had there was mussels steamed in a green curry. In a city with so many places serving mussels its tough to make a dish stand out. Be aware that there while it is open for lunch on the weekend there are no lunch specials.

My fiance took me to Zento for my birthday and we were not disappointed. The sushi was tasty and fresh but the highlight was the fried calamari and the green tea tempora ice cream. A little overpriced but Id still go back. Great service and a nice decor and ambiance.

By far the best food Ive ever had! Everything was so incredible. The setting is beautiful and in the center of so any landmarks. The inside is casual, yet intimate setting. I highly recommend it and I will definitely be coming back!!!!

Fresh sushi, friendly service, and they were able to make my meal gluten-free. :) Thats a big plus for me since Im sensitive to gluten. I liked the decor too...low lighting and exposed brick made it feel like a cozy little cave.

Zento is almost unnoticable from the street outside and is a small, intimate dining experience inside. However, the retaurant is big on food appearance, taste, and service. GO TO ZENTOS... TRUST ME! I need to go back soon!

The reverse happy hour is the reason to go, but you must sit at the bar to get the benefit. This is not made clear. Nonetheless, love the place, friendly service, lovely people. SIT AT THE BAR DURING REVERSE HAPPY HOUR. :)

OMG the Calamari was probably the best Ive had, Sukiyaki wasnt bad either. Nice cozy spot, wait staff was pretty good although when I went (Friday at 7) there were only two other sets of guests there.

The lunch combos are huge, its a lot of food. The sushi is rolled tightly. Often not enough wasabi but thats just a personal preference. Some of the best tempura soup Ive had with take out.

The Love Roll, Zento Square and the new Mexican Roll are my fav! They recently partnered up with Greys Lounge and now have two bars. They now can serve more people!

The old city roll is great. Good drinks and saki selection. Friday nights get a little crazy and staff can slow down a bit. Otherwise, this place is great.

Just OK. Some rolls better than others in taste and price. Wasabi for some reason was not spicy at all. Has an impressive list of specialty cocktails.

The sushi was very good, but the marketed "reverse happy hour" was underwhelming with deals only on a subset of their cocktail menu, and nothing else.

This cozy yet upscale Japanese restaurant is a great place for good cocktails, sushi, ambiance and service. Their ramen soup is absolutely top notch.

The sushi was fresh and delicious. The table we were seated in was small and cramped, but the good food made up for the bad seating.
