The sushi here is possibly the worst I have ever had in my life. I would rather eat sushi from the food court at Liberty Place, I would rather eat sushi from the supermarket, I would probably rather eat sushi straight from the Delaware River!! The sushi is not fresh and the spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail rolls we had were chopped up into some weird concoction of like crunchy orange nastiness... The little little bits of fish that were actually in the mix were not good at all... i seriously had to dig into the mix to try to get a piece of fish which ended up being disgusting. The tuna avacado salad came with a pieces of tuna slightly seared on the outside and slices of avacado over a few pieces of lettuce. The salad had no taste whatsoever and there was not dressing of any kind to accompany the salad or inside the salad already. I have never been so dissatisfied at a Japanese restaurant in my entire life!! On a more positive note, the waitress was very attentive and the service was decent. Too bad she did not seem to care more about how bad the food was when we told her how horrible our rolls were. She just said that is how we make it. Well, that is why I will never be back... And if you want all you can eat sushi for a steal for all those people who say quality is not a big deal and it is all about the price, go to Ruby Buffett at Front and Washington. It is a chinese buffett with sushi, sashimi, snow crab legs, chinese food, shrimp, raw bar, salad, dessert, pizza, etc. for $12.99. There goes a steal for you... And believe it or not, even the quality of the sushi/sashimi at this low-end chinese buffett beats this place!

f youre like me, then youve probably been hypnotized by the siren call that is All-You-Can-Eat sushi. To my knowledge, there arent many places (if any) in Philadelphia that provide AYCE so Aki has an "edge", I guess. Went here for the first time a while back and their AYCE was decent, not the highest quality fish or taste, but cravers cant be choosers. At about $28, it was decent. Decent is enough to get me to come back. Lets just say I shouldnt have come back. This time, grabbed myself a Groupon deal and the hole got deeper, and I was sinking. I was hoping for at least a mediocre experience, but I left with a sinking feeling (not the food poisoning sort thankfully, but the lets-not-come-here-again variety). If you want to game your $28, stick to the hot starters and special rolls. Im guessing since AYCE is probably a popular option for this restaurant, you shouldnt expect the finest cuts of fish. Locked on the one-per-customer sashimi appetizer which comes with three cuts of salmon and tuna. Boy, it took a lot to stomach those 6 pieces and I was not at all optimistic about what was coming next. Fortunately, the special rolls werent as bad (but dont expect amazing or mouth-watering). Ate enough starters/hand rolls/sashimi to feel good about going the AYCE route. Full, but not necessarily satisfied. Low sodium soy sauce that was too watery that you couldnt even taste the saltiness, hand rolls that were falling apart, and slow, inattentive service (on a to match the low-quality food. May come back to try non-AYCE but not entirely convinced that I should.

Whenever my boyfriend and I go out for Sushi, we always go here. Its small and quiet so we never have to deal with a busy or loud atmosphere, and the food always comes out amazing. We almost never get rolls; its always sushi & sashimi, and not only is it delicious but its actually quite affordable! I have never been to the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, but I would like to find the time to go. I would also like to add that our neighbors wife, who is japanese and only moved to america in the last few years, says their food is the closest to authentic that she has seen in the city. She saw a hand-written note, IN japanese, advertizing a summer dish that she loved from back home, and it impressed her so much because of the relatively small size of the japanese community in Philly. So honestly, if a Japanese woman is saying its awesome, I cant argue with that!

tried their uni (sea urchin) for a change and i cannot recommend it for anyone. they say fresh sea urchin is supposed to taste like the ocean, with a hint of sweetness to it. what i got at aki, however, was bitter, fishy, with a hint of the ocean in a dystopian future where all life ceased to exist save for a few detritivore species salvaging what once was a beautiful planet. nevertheless, the experience was not totally horrible. the servers were friendly and the menu otherwise adequate. if youre just going for california rolls and a few drinks, aki is not a terrible spot.

Horrible Waitress! Manager Avoiding Responsibility! The waitress named Gina gave me a bill check even before I started to order the food. I was really shocked and complained how rude she was. She just ignored and got mad about my compalint. She did not even clean my table at all after I talked to her. I tried to call a manager but he was not there because it was the lunch time. So I called them at night and a manager trying to avoid to apologize and finally said sorry but he did not really sound like he was sorry at all. This shouldnt be happened again!!!

Ive eaten here many times with friends and enjoyed everything. I decided to have lunch here today and was disappointed for the first time. The spicy tuna roll and eel avacado roll were okay, but the Philadelphia roll tasted awful. I thought it was just me at first but a couple pieces in I had to give up on it as it was nauseating. Mentioned it to the server but he just kinda acted like I didnt understand what it was supposed to taste like. Didnt take it off the bill, either. Not sure Ill come back when I know of other good sushi places in town.

Only have had the all you can eat sushi which is a great deal. Rolls were quite tasty, nigiri was OK but it was the all you can eat so quality in those pieces may be lower than a regular order which is fine. If you do all you can eat, be aware currently its three items max per order, unlimited orders. Be sure to finish as they charge for waste (e.g.if you have two rolls on the plate youll get hit with those also). Big space, decent size bar, worth the trip. In the warmer times they have some outside seating (or the windows opened fully).

Truly love this place. They have such good sushi great appetizers, and who could beat the all you can eat sushi here! The only reason I only gave it 4 stars is because of the 1 crappy waiter here. I believe his name is Dave (small Asian man). He was so rude and got very cocky with my girlfriend and I. If your lucky you can get any of their other super amazing Waiter here. Especially the other Dave (tall African American man). Literally the nicest guy, and helpful. We have came back here just because of how nice and helpful he was
