This place is really quite fantastic. Generic Mexican restaurants are always do-able when you are in the mood but this place is definitely way above average. There is cute outdoor seating, several giant dining rooms, and a full bar with televisions if you require that. The decor is unbelievable, not a nook or cranny in the place without a woven blanket, Mexican art, props, or other southwest regalia. The service was great, the menu is gigantic, and our mole chicken and steak fajitas were really great. They have a city wide special (shot and a Tecate) every night of the week and the rest of the drinks were extremely reasonable. My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves and found this place after purchasing a GroupOn..this is where an important part of the review starts... Unfortunately the prices on the menu are unreasonably too high! $18 for a burrito? $3.50 for a side of mole? Many, many other examples. I understand quality food and generous portions should reflect a decent price point but overall the menu items need to come down at least a dollar or two per item. We loved Adobe Cafe and wish we could return but even with the Group On our bill was $70! Mexican food is known for its friendly prices, delicious flavors, etc. Maybe this is secretly a Steven Starr restaurant? Still a great place but waaaay too steep for a Mexican restaurant in Roxborough.

My man and I just finished having lunch at this location, we usually eat at the Adobe location on passyunk. Being in a different part of Philly we went here today and were disappointed in the service and attitude of ownership. Our server was very slow. My man never had his iced tea refilled, nor was he asked if he wanted more. We ordered vegan food and the toppings to fajitas were not vegan and had to be adjusted. It took five minutes to get the check after asking for it. And another five minutes to run it. The waitress only had two tables at most, I would be curious as to how she manages during busier times. However, If you can handle bad service and a manager who doesnt care how customers are treated then you can enjoy the food. The food is great and highly recommended. Just dont plan on a quick meal here.

This place has become a joke. For one, who takes buffalo wings off of their happy hour menu? I would order wings there eat some and take a few home for later, or for relatives. At one time they allowed you to get the happy hour price for the wings, but you must buy something else too (basically making it full price and making you think you are getting a deal.) Sneaky, sneaky! The last time I was there we were eating and the lady was cleaning the table off next to us adding that delicious windex flavor to the food. Yum. Steak tips have become pretty expensive too. They are good, but a little bit gouging anymore. You have to use the lettuce they decorate your plate with to beef this bad boy up. As a person who has gone for the past 20 years, never again. - A long time customer

OK, the Adobe Cafe has good, no, it has great Mexican food. The Adobe is very, VERY affordable. The Adobe is easily the easiest place to find a parking spot in Roxborough and Manayunk, without giving up any of the traditional neighborhood street appeal. And did I mention the hours, yah, they stay open late. What I like best about this place is the fun. Belly up to the bar, the cantina if I may, or relax in the patio, join the karaoke scene, dance with your date, or ask someone to dance. Any one of these reasons are enough to give the Adobe Cafe five stars. The people who work here, and the people to eat, drink, dance and sing here, are the reasons why this the best night spot in Philadelphia.

I called ahead for take out. After HORRIBLE service, I left a 5% tip (which for takeout is really not that bad in my opinion) when I received my Credit Card bill, I saw that they charged me with a 20% tip. This is THEFT. It was a substantial order so the additional 15% was a considerable amount of money. DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE THIEVES! Their menu prices are NOT what they say they are either! They charged me more than what wa on the menu. When asked about it, they laughed and said "HA! yeah our menu prices change sometimes!" Will not go back and would suggest you avoid this place if you dont like dealing with dishonest people.

Good food, nice atmosphere, but atrocious customer service. On one particular visit we waited close to two hours for our food. You better ration your drink as well because you wont be getting a refill any time soon. The staff isnt particularly friendly, either. It feels more like youre a nuisance than a customer to them. We watched as countless other parties even bigger than our own came in, were seated, has dessert, and had left, BEFORE we got our Entrées. The quality of the food was good enough that this place would deserve 4 stars if they can pull it together and figure out how to serve their customers.

Service was decent but food was t-rash.Did not taste authentic whatsoever . Very disappointing and the place needs a serious clean up. Sticky floors dirty tables . Just gross . I wouldnt recommend this place . For goodness sake I had ordered chicken enchiladas and it comes with mixed vegetables. Most times mixed vegetables at a Mexican restaurant consists of peppers , onions , etc not steamed veggies. Terrible just terrible. Also wayyyyyyy too pricey for Mexican food 15 for basic meal girl bye!

A hidden gem with very authentic and homemade taste. It has a good variety of menu options. But the food is overpriced... its Mexican food for god sakes! Over $15 for a burritto is too much! The quality isnt always consistent. They usually have groupons available for a meal deal but they mail local coupons for a $35 meal for 2 also.... its the same deal as groupon. I would recommend this place if you have a groupon or coupon but not worth the money usually.

Okay, so Ive been to the Adobe Cafe at least 4 times now. Im such a burrito fan that I even think about them in my sleep sometimes. Ive tried every burrito they have on the menu and Im still not satified with them. My boyfriend ordered the chicken Chimichanga and it was OUT OF THIS WORLDDD! Their chips and salsa are great, we cant get enough of them. The only thing that keeps me going back there is the tranquil patio and an ice cold Corona.

One of our favorite restaurants! My wife loves the talapia tacos. Never had a bad meal here. Chips and salsa are great, guacamole and sour cream come with your meal (which many restaurants charge extra for). Weve been coming here for years and its always good. Service is usually very good too. Restaurant ambiance is a little quirky but its fun and the food is great. Lots of free parking in the lot across the street. Delicious Mexican food!

Wings and fries were good and the patio is nice. I feel like its a great place for drinks, a chill atmosphere and good bar food. A lot of people in the neighborhood love the place. However, I feel like a restaurant that seems like its Tex-Mex but also serves burgers, wings and pizza loses me when Im looking for a great restaurant. The food is definitely not "bad"... but its not amazing either.
