I must point out that this review is for just the Mt Joy Sonic. It is easiest just to bullet list the issues. 1. This is the first place a fast food car hop has asked to be tipped on more than just one occasion and not because they were rendering service in inhospitable weather. Car hops at the other locations have never asked or indicated they should be tipped. I even asked the manager working the drive thru of another location if tipping was expected for the car hops and they said no and the offending franchise should be reported to corporate. 2. Service is very slow. On three different visits it took the more than thirty minutes to provide the same five item order (hot dog, two grilled cheese, an iced tea and a banana split) I almost always make. These were not at busy times either and people who had placed larger orders after mine received theirs before me. 3. On my last visit I ordered a banana split and waited twenty-five minutes. They brought what just looked like a jumbled mess in a sundae container that is half the size of the banana split boat. I pointed out the discrepancy between sizes and cost to the car hop. The car hops reply was to the tune of "tough luck , we ran out of banana split dishes awhile back and you already ordered this." I said you should have said something when I first placed the order rather than ambush me with a half sized replacement at the full cost. Seriously, if you knew the problem before I ordered you should have pointed it out. The car hops response was , "Too late you ordered it and its not my problem." 4. The final point... if one is really needed that is... even the drive thru has ridiculous wait times for simple small orders and to be brutally honest it was the attitude of the last car hop of point 3 that made me finally decide to stop coming here despite it being closest to my home. I will still continue to enjoy other Sonic locations just not this one.

I live right by this Sonic, so Ive visited it several times. When the order is correct, the food is great. My husband and I especially like their breakfast sandwiches. However its happened more than a few times now where well get an order so incorrect you have to wonder if they just picked a bunch of stuff to make from the menu for funsies, and then gave it to us. The car hops are usually polite, but something that irks me is that several of them hang around the car for a long moment after delivering the orders, which makes me feel like theyre expecting a tip. Ive done a ton of googling, and have asked friends that work in the service industry, and theyve almost all indicated that you dont need to tip at Sonic- and I feel thats correct. Unlike a traditional restaurant where youre expected to tip, the car hops dont refill my drink or bus my table. I order, they bring it out, and then I leave. I dont tip at McDonalds or Burger King, so it makes so sense that I should tip at Sonic.

The worst Sonic Ive been to. I was going to go in and order milkshakes and they told me I have to order outside. When I ordered on the speaker under the menu board at their cafe. They said they will bring my order out. I waited 25 minutes for my order and they still didnt bring my order. They sent other larger orders to people who were in the same place I was, some were served even after I got there! Most of the car hops went right by me like I wasnt even there. After 25 minutes I already left. Took all that time for a milkshake!! Ridiculous!!! The other Sonic Ive been to had better service than this. I got a milkshake at the other Sonic at around 8pm in less than 10 minutes, and it took these guys more than 25 minutes to get a milkshake! Not going to this Sonic again!

Had a horrible experience today. Ordered 2 hot dogs, 2 milk shakes, onion rings, tater tots and a large strawberry slush.... We received COLD hot dogs, no onion rings, a medium slush, the tater tot and both milkshakes.... With a nice side of attitude and disrespect. The "manager" was incredibly rude. My mother in law couldnt even order anything .... Shes diabetic and the manager that took our order was so impatient she actually told us they serve nothing sugar free. Which is BS. We tipped her any way, just out of common respect. Sonic needs to either retrain their managers or hire new ones. This isnt the first visit gone bad for us. But we gave one LAST try. From now on, we will drive out of our way to go to a more friendly sonic.

Now I remember why I havent been there for at least 2 years...when you try to order, its like theyre all carrying on back in the kitchen, you cant hear the person taking your order. Then, it took forever (seriously, like 20 minutes...for FAST FOOD) to get a shake & chicken tenders, and even then they didnt get my order correct for a LARGE shake, just a medium. It was after 8, my friend didnt get her shake for half-price. Then around 8:45 PM, we could see into the kitchen area...they literally THREW WATER on the floor to mop! Pretty sure thats not OK. The Sonic service model seems very inefficient. Maybe its the hype of the old-school drive-in.

Order of three small milk shakes was taken at 8:59 PM, June 1. At 9:30 PM, I pressed the button and asked if my order had been lost. I was told the order would be sent right out. At 9:35 the carhop brought 3 shakes with the whipped cream melted into the shake. I asked the carhop to replace the shakes with new ones...these had definitely been taped awhile ago. At 9:40 the carhop returned with the same shakes and informed us that the manager said it would take too long to make new ones so we could accept these or leave. I asked for the managers name which I was told was Kim. Needless to say, I will not be stopping at Sonic again.

Went to Sonic at 8:23 pm June 20, 2014 and ordered a double cheeseburger, 5 piece chicken strips, Medium onion rings a small Oreo Blast and a Medium Reeses blast. While ordering, the person taking the order asked me to wait multiple times and kept getting things wrong. At 9:02 the food was delivered and there were only two things that were correct. They served us a COLD double bacon cheesburger, 3 piece chicken strips, COLD onion rings, an oreo cheese cake shake and the Reeses blast. This is the worst service and Sonic I have ever been to, would not recommend anyone ever eating there. Food there is not edible!

Milkshake tasted great, but the charge was supposed to be half price and it was not calculated correctly on the receipt. I ordered a large milkshake, which has a regular price of $4.49. On the receipt, instead of charging $2.25 for the shake, only $2.20 was deducted. Making matters even worse, when the $4.49 price was reduced by $2.20, the receipt showed $2.30 for the sub-total, instead of $2.29. With the tax, the final total on the receipt was $2.44. The correct calculation should have been $2.25 + $.14 tax = $2.39, so I was overcharged 5 cents.
