I was pleased to discover Shere-e-Punjab in Media - a great little Indian restaurant that compares with similar establishments downtown and on the Main Line. I enjoyed a nicely golden-browned Benghan Bharta with an especially unique long-grain variety of Basmati rice. (Shere-e-Punjab may well serve the best Basmati rice Ive tasted). Whereas I was happy with the "mild hot" spices as ordered, my wifes Biryani was similarly mild even though she ordered it "extra hot" (Not sure if this was a mistake, or restaurant policy regarding spices). The naan was especially large and tasty, as were the appetizers. Shere-e-Punjab does not serve my favorite - onion bhaji - but the recommended vegetable pakora substituted well. The dining room is small, but cozy. We ordered take-out, so I cant comment beyond my initial impression that it looks like a nice relaxing place to enjoy a good meal and a night out. Cons: A bit expensive; our two meals, appetizers and naan bread cost $45 without drinks. I suspect were paying for the ambience and location here, so mores the pity when youre only getting take-out

After going through few of the reviews I and my husband decided to visit this restaurant with couple of our friends...This place turned out to be the WORST ever food joint in my list till date...The lunch buffet menu offered very few varieties...There is just one dessert in offer... Taste was bad, wish I could give 0 rating for this..service was bad ( nor I cared about it after having the food there)...Tandoori chicken was cold, mutton curry is pathetic, chicken tikka masala is a disgrace to its creator.......At $11 its looting, cheating .... I have had food in many Indian restaurants(Being an Indian)...I have had some bad experiences as well...But this restaurant stands tallest among all...in short PLEASE AVOID this place... The only good thing about this place is they have some good paintings in their walls... Consider places like Amans(Norristown), Bawarchi (Wayne), Indian Kitchen(Exton).few in philly downtown etc. if you want to have decent indian food...

Ive been dooped! I love Indian food and am always searching for new places. This restaurant got fairly good reviews so I thought I would take the trip to Media to try it out. 1. The prices on the webiste are NOT the actual prices! My lamb korma was $3 more in the restaurant and when I told her the price on the website she acted like she was surprised but made no effort to apologize for the difference or give a concession. 2. The papadam tasted stale and the flavor was WAY too overpowering (to the point where I made a face every time I took a bite). 3. The portions are too small for a meal that costs $17. 4. The korma was sweet (they never asked what spice level I wanted) and had an almost gelatin consistency. Bottom line: this place may be your only option if u live across the street and its the only indian restaurant for miles, but Ive had WAY better (Ex. India Palace) and I will NEVER return to Shere-E-Punjab!

Went to Shere Punjab in Media for lunch buffet and found the place to have good ambience. When it came to food a completely different story. Low quality, bad taste and chicken tikka was never replenished! Definitely stingy on the meat and the vegetarian entrees were just mot good. To top it all off the "ras malai" which is a dessert item was placed with salads. So if you are new to Indian desserts you would not know the difference between and accidentally may put ras malai on your hot food thinking it was yogurt!! Very bad!

Bad experience here. I am a frequent flyer of Shere-e-Punjab since the Media days and recently at the Glen Mills location. But lately your takeouts have been going through bad quality checks. I have come back from home twice recently to return some inedible dishes. Today, I was denied what I wanted in return since it costed $5 more. I could not trust the integrity of the management when they came back after a while to tell me that the dish was not available. Not sure if there are gonna be any more takeouts from here for me.

I had visited the restaurant once before for dinner and was impressed by its quality; hence went there today for their lunch buffet, and unfortunately it turned out to be pretty disappointing. The tandoori chicken didnt have any salt in it...the paneer looked very stale and the rest of the dishes felt like they were yesterdays left overs. The only good item from the menu was the naan - which was very fresh and well made. I would not recommend this restaurant for lunch buffet - dinner is much better here.

Prior to this restaurant opening, we always went to Noodi (also in Media) for casual BYOB dinners. The Vindaloo dishes are authentic and exceptional, but my favorite is Lamb. I love spicy food and the waiter always remembers that I like mine a bit spicier. My wife enjoys the Shere e Punjab special (on the menu) but we have tried many of the dishes on the menu and have never had a bad meal. I have traveled to India twice and they have not overly "Americanized" the menu. Dont forget to order the Naan.

Buffet was mediocre, all chicken and kofta dishes were seasoned with the same masala. Tandoori chicken was soggy, and being a "Punjabi" restaurant, you would expect some North Indian taste in the food, not just ghee. We came in 30 minutes before buffet was closing and the staff provides minimal and rude service. The only thing I enjoyed was the company I was with. Go somewhere else.

Great food. Their lunch buffet is the best around. They have it 7 days a week and its only $10 during the week. The chicken took I masala is amazing both on the buffet and when Ive ordered off the menu. Also ordered a bread basket off the menu and it was delicious. 4 different kinds of naan: onion, sweet, plain, and another kind of here, served warm.

Always a great place to grab a quick lunch with a friend. Staff are super friendly and the food is great. If youre not into spicy food, I would avoid this place (or any Indian joint for that matter). As it is, I love it here. Street parking is available but have your quarters ready. Or, park at Medias parking garage nearby as they accept credit cards.

$.7.50 per each small child on your check. We were $7.50 each for 5 year-olds. It was not a mistake - I asked at checkout if they were intentionally charging me for little kids - the answer was yes that is our rate for child at week end buffet. Not to mention - this is the last time we are having a family lunch at this restaurant.

My fave Indian restaurant in the Philly area thus far. Their buffet has a wonderful selection of four or five succulent chicken dishes, great sweets, and complimentary naan brought to your table.. Service is prompt and courteous and the atmosphere is quiet and calm. I love this place.
