We went out for a family dinner; the reviews looked good and the items on the menu looked great. We were seated outside, and being as it was a Tuesday and almost 7PM, it was not super busy. The two hostesses were very friendly and polite. The desserts looked amazing, the beer list was extensive. It seemed as if we were going to have a very pleasant family night. Our waiter, “Elmo” (not his real name if you did not already know), took our order, we ordered a frozen Blood Orange Margarita, a White Wine Sangria and the lettuce wraps. Normally, a bar item shouldn’t take long, but for some reason ours did. My wife’s drink came out first, and it was just a glass of white wine. Ok, now something is going on here... After many minutes the Blood Orange Margarita comes out, but it is on the rocks, not frozen. I inform the wait staff of the error, and to their credit they do fix it, but I have to wait 10 more minutes to get my drink. Really?? 10 minutes to put the drink in a blender??!! I am sitting not 10 feet away from their outdoor bar. By this time the lettuce wraps, came out. To be honest, they really tasted good. The slaw that the shrimp was in was really nice and tasty. Now, my margarita has finally arrived, and it better be the best darn margarita this side of Cabo; to be blunt, there was not a drop of alcohol in the drink at all. My wife tries it was well. Not a single solitary drop. We searched for Elmo, mind you; the outdoor area is not super busy, but he is nowhere to be found, (actually neither is any of the wait staff), after we flag him down, and tell him the issues we have had so far. Again, to his credit, he offers to take back the drinks; I hand him my drink, and my wife, seeing how long it took to get my wrong drink, declines. Several more minutes go by, and finally it is here. In case anyone is wondering, it is not the best darn margarita this side of Cabo. It is not even the best darn margarita this side of Route 100. But what about the food?? We ordered a Patty Melt, Fish Tacos, Shrimp Tacos, and Chicken and Waffles. Ok, I’ve worked in the restaurants and back kitchens putting my way through college and beyond; I know it is hard to bring the food for the entire table all at once; however, as a successful restaurant that is your goal. In our case, the tacos came out a good 5 minutes before the other items. The fish tacos were so-so, nothing to rave about. The Chicken and Waffles, well, the chicken was dry, and I mean dry. I had asked for my patty melt to have a side of truffle fries, I knew it would be extra, but I love truffle fries. What do you think happened?? No, truffles fries. Now, to be fair, Elmo did not give us our food, some other wait staff did. When he finally came over to our table, I informed him of yet another mistake by the kitchen, he informs me that he placed the order for Truffle fries, and that he will go get them. 5 minutes go by, then 10 minutes go by…finally he comes over to ask if we would like any boxes. Boxes?? I simply ask for the check. Seriously, this is not an indictment of Elmo, everyone has bad days, everyone, but something has to done with enhancing communication between the wait staff and the kitchen, and also having the wait staff undergo some sort of customer-centric training. My wife is not going to be a repeat customer, our kids are not going to coming there, and as for me...I may go for a beer, but that is it.

Decided to give Red Star Craft in Exton a second chance - big mistake! The drinks were decent - (cant mess up bottled beer Ordered Avocado fries that were surprisingly good, but way over priced. We ordered an adult grilled cheese dinner and a salad with chicken. It appeared that they lost the order for the kitchen, after three apologies from our waitress & manager, it took over 30 minutes for this rather simple order to arrive at our table. We had only one speical request for our dinners and that was for crispy bacon on the grilled cheese. Surprise, raw bacon. The grilled cheese with small soup - $16 A small salad with chicken - $13 When we mentioned to the manager that we were disappointed he put his hands to his mouth and exclaimed, "Oh My!." No other comments no apologies, Despite leaving my contact info I have not heard word one from the restaurant.

WORST restaurant experience I have ever had, and not the first time at Exton Red Star...but definitely the last. First the wrong order was brought out, then the right order of nachos came and were not only ice-cold (on a busy Thursday night), the steak was bloody like the cow JUST died in the kitchen, the complete opposite of what was ordered. My friend had a bad food experience last time (we love Red Star, so we took t as a one time mishap), but she ordered her same favorite pizza again, and specified extra sauce etc to avoid the same mishap. The pizza arrived DRY as hell, the manager says maybe the sauce all dripped off. The only thing that was perfect was the two drinks we ordered, neither of which had to be cooked for a paying customer. NEVER going back again. They need to reevaluate their staff ASAP.

Could be better but not the worst. The person who seated use sat us at a booth... but it didnt give us a boaster seat or child seat for my14 month old. We had to ask, that was a first. The server said everything was made fresh but i dont believe that. My kid had a grilled cheese. Seriously they messed up grilled cheese. I think they toasted the bread put one piece of cheese on and called it grilled cheese. The bread wasnt even buttered. Wife had a burger- she said it was good. I had pulled pork tacos. I firmly believe this was microwaved pulled pork because thats how to tasted. Def not worth 14$. They say its a big beer selection but its mostly bottles. If you want draft beer just go to the pour house up the road.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Red Star on Tuesday night. We go out to dinner quite a bit...so weve had an opportunity to experience all kinds of service. Until last night, Ive never felt compelled to write a review. We were so fortunate to have Gwen as our server. Having a sitter for the kids, we were in no hurry to move through our meal. Gwen was immediately in tune with our desired pace for the evening and somehow never rushed us, nor left us waiting. Her knowledge and enthusiasm about the food (and particularly the beer) was so impressive we basically let her order for us for the majority of our meal. Ive been talking about it all day. Thank you so much, well be back soon!

Two adults ordered the meatloaf and both agreed it was really hot and spicy. One of us couldnt even eat it and it was taken off the bill. Two children ordered the Hawaiian pizza to share and both said it was two hot and spicy. We asked for ranch dressing and that helped curb the heat. My wife ordered the cheese steak and unlike some places that shred the meat, her steak was in chunks. It tasted good but the meat could have been shredded up. We wont go back again as a family, but I would go by myself.
