We have visited The Brick House between 10-15 times over the last two years. When we initially moved to the Royersford area in late 2011 we found the Brick House to be a once in a while stop for a good burger, nice salads and specials that made the value very good. We previously lived in West Chester, PA and have experienced several types and levels of restaurants almost always dining with our children. We realize that even great places can have an off night however after this most recent experience we simply can’t justify ever going back. The restaurant has definitely suffered a big decline in quality over the last 6-8 months. The staff here never seems to be the same from visit to visit and the service you receive reflects this as well. The food preparation, timeliness and quality have also dwindled from our prior experiences here. The building has the potential to be a beautiful dining space but the sports bar feel, gold bar glass partitions and video games greatly detract from the structural beauty of the interior. We visited The Brick House for the last time on Saturday June 22, 2013. We had spent the day at Knoebels amusement park and found ourselves passing by Pottstown later in the evening and in need of a quick meal. Our party consisted of my husband, myself our two children (1 ½ and 5) and a family friend. We typically would not dine later than 8:00 or so with our children as they are young however, when necessity dictates it has never been an issue in the past. We were seated at a table directly in front of the vault; our waitress came over to the table and asked to take our drink order. When she returned with our drinks she said “I want to make you aware that we have a policy that no minors can be in the restaurant beyond 9:45 pm. I then asked, “Well what time is it now”, she replied “its 8:50”, “I said well we are only ordering chicken fingers and a burger and the chicken and rib special would an hour be enough time”? She said yes and so we placed our orders at that time 8:50 – 8:55. My husband and our friend were immediately served the salad that came with the chicken and rib special they ordered however when I noticed my husband not eating his salad I asked what was wrong. Our friend said “I can guess, it’s the horrible BO the waitress has, I can’t eat my salad either I am nearly sick at how bad she smells”. I can’t imagine how someone serving the public could go about smelling like she had worn a dirty sweaty shirt for days …it’s a shame she was a nice girl and appeared clean however when she passed by it was clear it was her BO that was assaulting us. It was now almost 9:30, another waitress began moving all the tables in order to create the dance floor…understandable I suppose however she was moving them alone scraping them loudly across the floor, each table and 4 chairs…then shoving them in beside us, there were only about four other parties seated and they were all seated off of the dance floor. One would question if they knew they would be clearing this space why wouldn’t they have simply set us off to the side when we came in? Our waitress returns, BO in tow and tells us at 9:35 that the chicken fingers are taking longer than expected but we should rest assured the manager will allow us to stay until we were finish our food. Wow, how gracious you will take over 40 minutes to serve chicken fingers, force us and our children to shove down our food all the while sitting in the middle of the “dance floor”? I mean come on…. This is the point my husband had enough and we collected our hungry tired children and exited the restaurant… sans our dinner we had waited almost an hour for. It’s really a shame this place could be so much more than what it has become….

My experience was as blah as possible. I enjoy finding new places to eat, and since moving back to the area, i figured i would check it out. Ive seen it many times when i came back to visit, but i never had time to actually stop in. Why not? The parking situation isnt ideal, but its not bad. There are some parking spots around the building itself, but i imagine they fill up fast when it gets busy. There is another lot 1/2 a block away if you cant find any parking on High Street. Easy enough. When i came in, the place was fairly empty, which isnt surprising for a Wednesday right before dinner. I was by myself so i sat at the bar. The bartender seemed to be pretty nice when she was getting my drink order. I asked her a question about the parking situation then went to move my car JUST IN CASE i was in a spot that would have gotten me towed. When i got back, i ordered a beer, and tried asking her about the place itself. How long its been here, does it get busy, etc., and she seemed almost like a different person. She would BRIEFLY answer any questions i had after that, with a very fake smile, but it all seemed so forced and artificial. She must have noticed i noticed, because i didnt see her until i asked for my check. The manager was the one who brought out my burger, asked how it came out after a few minutes, and i didnt see the bartender at all during my meal. She must rely on her looks to get what she wants because her personality isnt doing her any favors. Im not one to base my entire opinion of a place on one visit. Ive worked in the food industry, so i know sometimes its just "one of those days". The menu had a really nice variety and there was a pretty well rounded beer selection. Im sure ill go back.

This place doesnt even deserve ONE star. I have been waiting for a call back from the " head" manager to call me back. The reason for my complaint is WE ARE BUSINESS OWNERS OURSELFS of two companies, and dine out weekly. As we were visiting a close friend to the Limerick area, we choose this place as they had a 20% coupon on an APP. We know the public is dramatic at times but this place IS UNBELIEVABLE. We had to cancel my daughters 7th birthday party due to my husband getting food poison , and didnt want our guest to have to smell nor witness it. Now I will complain about the service ALONE. We got there at 6:00PM on a Saturday . NO WAIT, sited right away. Menu item said it came with a salad, had to wait for TWENTY minutes before I even received it. We ordered an app , which were the nachos. SINCE WHEN DOES AN APP COME OUR WITH FOOD LITERALLY 45 MINUTES LATER WITH NO WAIT! The place was EMPTY. We then get our check which was around $40 and our drinks were not on there. We didnt say anything because we thought since it took so long, we werent charged for our drinks . Okay no biggie. We then show the coupon, and magically , the drinks are on there AND it took 40 minutes to get the check back to pay!!!!!! I should have known by there being no wait this place is a DUMP !!!!! And we had literally 30 minutes to look around the outlets for shopping. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!
