NOT CHILD FRIENDLY! I visited the tea room this past weekend with my mom, sister and daughter. Strike 1: I was shocked to find out upon arriving that they do not provide high chairs or booster seats. Going to tea is typically a lady thing, and especially a little girl thing. Strike 2: My second surprise came when I had to take my daughter to the restroom to change her. There was no changing table. It was 100 degrees outside, so I couldnt take her to the car. My only option was to put my changing mat on the floor - I was not happy about this. It is unacceptable for this day in age for a business to not provide adequate bathroom facilities - this includes a changing table. The Food: The tea menu was large and the teas were good. The food was just ok - not great. The tea sandwiches were a little heavy on cream cheese - other than the egg salad and chicken salad, the other 3 tea sandwiches were all cream cheese based. They seem to run a lot of promotions on deal sites - I think this leads to a lower quality experience (hence 3 variations on cream cheese sandwiches). I also did not care for their scones. They seemed like they were Bisquick - not proper scratch baking.

The Simpson Tea House Tea Room is my favorite place to visit and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a taste and feeling of yesteryear. I often feel like Ive stepped backward in time whenever I visit. The scones, clotted cream, lemon curd, jams, tea sandwiches [and of course the freshly-prepared teas] are the best Ive ever tasted...even better than Taste of Britain. I mean no disrespect as TOB is also very good. Karin and Cathy are among some of the nicest ladies Ive met and they work really hard to ensure everyone who visits enjoys their meal. If youre unsure what kind of tea to try, both ladies can help customers to decide on something rich, like the vanilla black tea, or something more exotic like the Royal Bengal Tiger [cinnamon, mango and passion fruit]. It will hit the spot with a scone or croissant-- I always get the fruit, cheese and scone platter and love this tea. I have an allergy to grains and my fruit and cheese assortment plate is never forgotten. I love Simpson House for its vast selection of foods, teas and general Victorian ambience. I will always return. <3

The food was delicious and the tea selection is impressive, but the service was rude and unfriendly. I had a surprise bridal shower here and we were treated very impolitely. We started a little later than intended but understood that they closed at 6 and they would then charge us $50.00 for every 15 minutes past closing. ( Which the hostess agreed to but I think was outrageous!) As the hour got closer to closing time the service became more and more discourteous. Our waitress actually crossed her arms and glowered at our group waiting for us to remove ourselves. As I said, I was the bride and we had a wonderful polite group of ladies present, even a 6 year old who behaved perfectly. Everything else about this shop was delightful, sadly the staff spoiled all of that and none of us present will likely patronize the tea shop again nor recommend it to others, disappointing manners for an English Tea.

I have been turned away at least 5 times from the young lady with short black hair. I admit that I had no reservation but clearly the days I chose to visit there was plenty of seating for one. I was recently turned away because I came in at 1:48 pm. This gal said they stop serving by 1:30, even though they close at 3pm. On those days that I was seated without reservation my experience was lovely. The waitress was happy and very sweet. I have been served by the gal with the short black hair - she is not very nice, she makes me feel as if I am doing her a favor and I have heard her yelling at the older owner back in the kitchen. Although I enjoy the lovely little restaurant for women and the awesome Teas and scones. I have given up on this restaurant. Once bitten twice shy ~ I wish them luck.

Tea houses are supposed to be a refined experience. The opposite tone is set at this place by the lady at the front. She is a short lady with short cropped black hair. She is rude, condescending and uncultured. I am surprised she still has a job!! She is enough bad publicity for the place. The tea and sandwiches are so-so. The wait staff is a hit or a miss. I have been to the tea house two times and once we were served by a polite waitress and the next time by an indifferent waitress. All in all, I will stay away from this place. I would much rather go to the Lincoln Tea Room in downtown West Chester (It has an excellent atmosphere, gracious hostess and wait staff and the most delectable sandwiches, tea and desserts). The Simpson Tea room is a cheaper and very inadequate rip-off. Stay away!!

My wife and I attended the Harry Potter tea. They had custom blends that were Harry Potter themed. Each patron got to chose their own and it was delivered in your own personal teapot. It also came with a selection of finger foods. At the end, we were all given some tea to take home with us. The staff was very attentive and helpful. They even came by to refill our teapots. We had 4 different ladies help us and never felt rushed or ignored. The shop also offers loose leaf tea and bagged tea for sale. They also have an array of tea accessories (teapots, tea strainers and the like). We have bought their custom blended loose leaf tea before and been very happy with it. I you enjoy the ceremony of high tea or even just need a good cuppa then this is definitely the place for you.

My husband and I and my step son used to live in walking distance of the tea room. My husband traveled so much the first few years of our marriage and I got to know my step son over many meals and tea at the tea room. It was my favorite place. We have since moved to Florida and my step son my son is 21 now and he couldnt remember the name of the tea room and asked me if I remembered your place and of course I did. He said it was so warm and cozy especially in the cold winters my son and I would walk there have tea and something yummy to eat. He said this was one of his best warmest memories He just brought it up a few days ago and I wanted to see if you were still in Chester Springs and you are. Its on our bucket list to visit PA soon and have a meal we miss You!

I only give this a one-star rating because there isnt an option to give no stars. Took my daughter to a Fairy Tea event. What a shakedown. Generic sandwiches that were less than what youd expect from WalMart and the proprietor "Karen" was pompous and rude to my wife. It should be mentioned that the young women who served the girls were exceptional and really worked hard to charm the girls. Above all, this "Karen" women delivered a card to each table, suggesting an additional "payment". We later found out that this was not a gratuity as we had intended and that part of this "payment" went to the establishment, not to the young women who served the girls. We were not the only ones who left feeling ripped off and offended.
