This restaurant has been on my to-do list for quite some time, so when a friend told me he had to give up his reservation and asked if I wanted it I jumped on the chance. We were a party of four with a 6:00 reservation. Each of us ordered a different appetizer and entree. The gnocchi, or "love pillows" were the best. Creamy, nutty and perfect texture. I was disappointed with the octopus salad. There was a generous amount of meat, but the sesame and tomato flavors just did not resolve. Bummer. My strip steak was done to perfection with the most perfect sear on the outside and served over a light bed of roasted vegetables and a mousse of red sweet potato. My wife ordered a stuffed quail special that was crispy and roasty with lovely color and flavor. Service was attentive, but you got the very clear understanding that this table is yours for a limited time and they will turn it over in two hours or less. My advice is that if you want to linger over coffee and dessert (get the creme brulee), get the last seating.

Wonderful food and atmosphere, but recent visits felt rushed. This is a very cook place tucked away where youd never expect to find quality dining like this. Its BYO and the staff is great about accommodation of anything you bring. Weve brought everything from wine to bourbon and they always have a glass for us. My only concern is the last two times we were rushed to order. This is a nice restaurant and its not a place you should feel, or be, rushed. We were seated a little after 8 and at 8:18 the waitress said the chef wanted our order. Not good. If it happens again well start looking for another place.

We have visited 31 different quality restaurants in the Reading, Lancaster, and Lebanon areas over the past 3 years and Birchrunville Store Cafe ranks at or near the top. The setting is rustic and the menu was pleasantly unique from the appetizer to desert. I dont believe there was a bad choice on the menu. Our server was extremely pleasant and seemed to take great pride in the product she was offering. Portions were perfectly sized, the food was absolutely delicious, and the wooden chairs were comfortable enough for a 1 and 1/2 hour visit :) We would return to Birchrunville in a heartbeat!

Dont waste your money on this place. The portion sizes are small if they hadnt given us bread with the lobster bisque we wouldnt have been able to taste it. there wasnt enough to dip a spoon into. it was a thin coating on the bottom of a bowl like they were running low and trying to make it last through the evening. The chef is arrogant and greedy with no loyalty to long time customers. Steer clear of this rip-off!

Delightfully hidden in the country, but absolutely worth the drive. BYOB makes this a special treat as we took a white & a red so we wouldnt be limited. The escargot appetizer was the best I have ever eaten & the duck roulade was spectacular. My veal was a perfect medium rare and all the veggies were fresh & crisp. We cant wait to go back.

Frequent Birchrunville 5 or 6 times a year. Best food in Chester County. BYOB and excellent charm also makes it one of the best hidden values anywhere. Food is often the center of our travel and have dined around the world. We are thankful to having this gem 15 minutes from our home.

My husband and I visited the Birchrunville Cafe for our 20th wedding anniversary. It was the best dinner I ever had! If they are serving the Bronzini fish special, I highly recommend you get it! This is an amazing restaurant...the food...the atmosphere...the service. It cant be beat!

Even though it is off the beaten path, it is worth a visit from anywhere in the area for the wonderful setting and great food. BYOB. Dont rely on a GPS to find the restaurant.

Best food in Philly burbs. Call it French fusion or simply Hip French. Theres a reason why reservations are impossible to get at The Birchrunville Store Café.
