My wife and i go here about once a month. Its a 2 hour drive and totally worth it. If youre going, do the family style. Its all you can eat and you get a little bit of everything. They are known for the fried chicken but my personal favorite is the sausage. The a la carte menu is the same food, but to be honest its a bit overpriced. The only thing you need to know about is that you sit with other groups and all share the feast "family style". I know this sounds weird but honestly its not bad. The scenario usually consists of 2 or 3 small groups where 1 of them has never done it before. Sometimes there are those who dont want to talk and its totally cool, just leave them be and you can all go ahead and eat as youd like. Normally, everyone spends 5 minutes doing the peasantries ("where you from?") and then everyone goes back to talking in their own group.

This place WAS a long time favorite, not anymore!! I was highly disappointed! I was shocked to fine that it had changed to a BBQ & beer place. Upon asking about the change of menu the waitress was rude and pretty much told us that if we wanted traditional Amish food we needed to go elsewhere. We seriously thought about getting up and leaving but decided to try the some of the "old favorites". Big mistake!! Chicken tasted like frozen chicken not fresh. And the brown butter noodles were awful!! Bow tie box noodles with scorched watery butter. Very small portions, but I guess I shouldnt complain because I didnt even want what was on my plate. I travel from SC every year and sadly this will be the last time eating at what once was our familys favorite spot! This google page has no updated info so we had no idea that the traditional menu was long gone.

OMG ate here on 6/27 and will NEVER eat there again.ushered to the bar at 7.40. Got a soda and ordered a cup of chills, girl came back and said if I wanted dinner I had to order right now 7:50 because at 8 menu changes to cheap appetizers. Fine ordered but rushed, chill came out and so did dinner. less than 5 mins. Nothing but 3 little pieces of roast beef. Supposed to be in smoke over night no smoke ring just burnt on out side. Just a roast beef taste no smoke, no flavor. Had to ask for sauces because the young bartender was terrible and hovering with another couple. Tasteless "Brisket", Mac and cheese not much better. Chill good had I known food was so bad Id have gotten bowl. It will make it for a while based on tourist, locals will pass it up after first try. Save your money

Jersey Girl-Jan 14,2012 First time ever to try this place plain and fancy. We were not happy with the food. It was bland, no seasoning at all. My daughter had the chix pot pie and I tasted it and the noodles had no taste almost like rubber. Were the mash potatos real??? dont know??? The rolls were stale and the staff was oh well what can I say. We have been to pa Amish country many times and we went to Plain and Fancy on the review that man vs food gave Adam Richmand. I think Adam you should take that off because I think when you went they pulled out all the stops. The place its self is charming and clean and the gift shop very nice. Sorry to write a bad review but I really was taken back by all the hype and no delilvery.

The food was cold and honestly just didnt taste good. All the servers were teenagers and obviously didnt take the job seriously. There was 10 people at our table and 12 at the one behind us, they completely ignored all the empty glasses and dishes on the table, never offered drink refills and came out with our checks while we were still trying to eat dinner and they hadnt even asked about dessert yet! I even saw a server drop silverware on thr floor then place it on a table setting. If you are here go to Good and Plenty instead trust me! The food is much better and so is the service, we went the day before & I was wishing Id gone back there instead of plain n fancy.

Im very disappointed, I loved when it was the real Plain and fancy restaurant. But this new concept that doesnt fit with the Amish area, Its not cutting it. I had fried chicken with chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes corn on the Cobb and Cole slaw. The chicken was overcooked , mashed potatoes were the powdered kind and the chicken pot pie was definitely out of a can soup. The build your own feast portions were way too small for the price. No raisin bread or dinner rolls , Just corn bread which again does not fit with the area. If I wanted to eat BBQ, I wouldve gone to mission BBQ. IT WAS HORRIBLE. They lost a faithful customer in me and my family. !!!

Really rushed dinner experience on New years eve. Felt unwelcomed by the staff they even shut off the lights in the souvenir shop before we left, we walked out in the dark. We where told that the last reservation for dinner was at 8:00pm , we made it for 7:30pm and they close at 8:00pm, needless to say they couldnt wait for us to leave. We ordered the family style meal and when we asked for additional food the kept telling us "sorry we ran out" and that they where closing for the season. What load of nonsense! They acted like they were doing us a favor by being there. That will be the last time we go.

This is a quaint little restaurant in the heart of Amish country. You can choose from 1 of 2 options. Option 1 is to order off the menu, just like any other restaurant. Option 2 is the "Amish feast" where multiple parties sit a one, long table and pass plates of food back & forth. We opted for option one. The kids very very happy with their meals and portions, my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Reuben and my fried chicken was very good. The service was friendly as well. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, fairly plain decor, etc. The food was very good.

visited there in July 2015 one of the worst sit down meals Ive ever had.The chicken was so over cooked and dry you had to take a drink of water to get it chewed. If that wasn;t bad enough we had to hunt our waitress down to refill our drinks and when time to go had to ask another waitress to find our check that took almost 10 minutes. If it had been busy Id have understood (it wasnt). An hour later we were looking for something else to eat. Will be returning to your town but not your restaurant.Dont like to leave such bad reviews but it was a really bad expernice.

Dined at Plain & Fancy as part of a bus trip for lunch recently. All the food was served cold. Water quality was terrible and undrinkable. Most of the food was actually drowning in butter. Service was not good. Our waitress kept disappearing and never came around to refill our family style bowls. When we asked for refills, she acted like she was doing us a big favor and then didnt bring everything as requested. For an all you can eat, we couldnt eat much Not what I expected from a popular PA Dutch landmark.
