Im a big fan of tacos, but the past few times weve gone here, theyve been soggy. I had this problem a few years ago. In the mood for Mexican, we decided to try On the Border again last week to see if it would hit the spot. I ordered the chicken fajita tacos and I was hoping they wouldnt be served dripping like they had been last time. Unfortunately, they were. The meal included two tacos but it was difficult to eat them as such, because both shells became soggy and ripped at the bottom due to the overabundance of sauce. I was hoping to give them a better review this time around, but in the end I had the same bad experience with the entree. The appetizer and the dessert, though, were very tasty. The empanadas were served crispy and very hot. For dessert we tried the sopapillas, which came with honey and chocolate dipping sauces. While both were very good, I dont feel that they redeemed the main course. Compared to last time, I think that the service has definitely improved. Our server was energetic and friendly, and she checked back on us at appropriate times. She made some good recommendations and we didnt have to wait for the check. She had a very positive attitude. If you want truly authentic Mexican, I cant say that On the Border is the place to go. For those who want something with more of a restaurant chain feel and quality, this might be your place, but I dont feel that this restaurant is on par with some of the cocinas mexicanas in the nearby area.

Me and my husband eat here all the time but last weekend was awful. We were seating right away however our waiter acted like he was too good to serve us. He consistently avoided our table and when we finally got our food I asked if there was a dressing to go with my salad. The menu clearly stated that ranch would come with. He proceeded to argue with me that the dressing was already on the salad. There wasnt. Finally he went and got some. After we ate he left us sit a half hour before asking if we needed boxes...fifteen minutes later he brought them. Twenty minutes later he asked if we would like the check. Helloooo. We have never been treated like this before and usually love our waiter/waitress. We will definitely go back because the food is great but if the service doesnt improve wed rather go somewhere else.

My husband and I enjoy Mexican food, the food is good in my opinion, but the service sucks, we ate here about 7 times and only 2 times was the service good, most of the time you wait for a drink refill for 15 mins or they never refill it, last time we went with our friends and kids and we were there for 2 hours!! Needless to say next time I go I will leave the little ones at home, it almost seemed like we were bothering the waitress when we asked for more salsa and chips. I do like the food though

Absolutely horrible! Went out for a family members birthday lunch. Food was COLD! The soups and salads, that were asked for before the food, were forgotten about until our entrees were sitting on our table (cold). One of our family members is a vegetarian and clearly stated it had a meal prepared with meat. Had to ask for boxs at least 3 times. Once alerted of all the issues it took 30 minutes for our bill to come out! Dont waste your time. Plenty of better places to eat in Reading.

We have been to this restaurant many times but today was a special day for my grand daughters birthday and the service was horrible we waited an hour for our food and the order was wrong ...The manager only agreed to remove the wrong order that we didnt even want big deal worst service ever would not recommend to anyone if you want authentic Mexican food go elsewhere..Also waitstaff was very cocky and tried to blame us for their mistake shame on them !!!!

Good food with a wide selection. Did feel a bit rushed as dinner traffic began to pour in and the waiting customers filled every open space they could grab. Wasnt asked if I wanted a second beverage even though we hadnt received the check yet. Definitely a chain experience. Ordered a margarita that certainly didnt come out as I expected, but maybe thats my fault - the entire bar was drinking what appeared to be the same booze. Only one craft beer to be had

After suffering from the likes of other terrible restaurants in the Reading area, On The Border is like a breath of fresh air. This is one place where the server was competent and actually anticipated when I needed a drink refill. The food actually isnt bad either. The chips were crisp, not soggy. The salsa had a spicy zing to it. The queso, beans and beef had good flavor, although those were perhaps a bit on the salty side.

I was looking forward to taking my kids to OTB to enjoy some Mexican food. Actually my first time here. Salsa and chips very delicious. However remainder of the meal was very disappointing. Beef in my enchilada was dripping with grease. Mexican rice dripping with butter and tasted like it was made with margarine. Refried beans where so so but very salty..

An OK place with fine service, but it is impossible to overstate how mediocre and bland the food is. Whether that is a function of its chain-basis, or is something specific to this particular restaurant is tough to say, though the moderately warm food on extremely hot plates points to the latter, but Im unlikely to eat in one of these again.

Compared to local area chains or small locally owned places this place is not very good at all and overpriced. I think there are a lot better Mexican cuisine places to dine in the area. The menu is lacking, the food doesnt have much taste and isnt cooked well. You just get more and better food for a better price at other non chain places.

We travel from Lititz to eat here regularly. Always consistently good food and great service. I think the manager checks in with us every time we visit, which is a great touch. Prices are reasonable as are portions. Clean and easy to find parking.

Like the atmosphere. Mexican meals not authentic. They cant make a chimichanga. Mexican food is my fav and this isnt it. If you go here you cant go wrong with the fajita meal. Hard to mess that up. Tortilla soup is salty every time.

Very friendly atmosphere. Even had a dish i only had to order without cheese to make it vegan. Oddly reminiscent of chains like applebees though. Same lack of care with their food. Sangria by the pitcher though so... got that going.

We had to wait more than an hour cuz I guess they only had two tables for groups of more than 4.... staff didnt seem to really want to help us. The food was okay and the waitress was really nice and did her part.

Great staff and atmosphere for a pleasant dinner on a weekend. Even though our party was a bit late and was towards the closing time, they really didnt rush us. Food and drinks were on point.

AnM- Great decor, excellent service and very good food on Opening Night in Allentown. Salsa could have been better, but overall a great experience. Finally, a good replacement for Don Pablos!
