I dont know how a restaurant can fail THAT badly .u name it ..they screwed it up.we had a party of 13 all of our drinks were flat and took forever to come out and they came out like 2 at a time with like 5 mins in between..the free bread was nice but it was just cold rolls you think they would at least heat them ? The salads were sad it was lettuce 1 piece of onion and 1 piece of cucumber .my mom got a tomato in hers..nobody else did .then the rest of the food..it also came out like 2 meals at a time .we had like 6 steaks and not a single steak was cooked correctly .I ordered a medium rare steak and it came out like well done ..my boyfriend ordered veal and Im pretty sure they gave him pork? I dont know if not it was pretty gross veal..almost none of the sides came out correctly and some didt even come at all ..my aunt got her baked potatoe after she was done eating and I never got my mashed potatoes .the kids food came out cold .it was just really awful food and the serves just didt make up for it our server seemed lost and confused the whole time and it was a fairly empty restaurant just us and maybe 2 other tables in the whole place to be honestly I felt bad for her but her attitude definitely could have been better .Ive been a server for 7 years and have taken partys of 50 by myself I know what kinda attitude a server should have .and the stuff just wast hitting it at all and when we asked to speak to a Manger we were told she had already been to our table to drop something off so why would she need to come out again ?!?!? Honestly if she was I had no idea she was a Manger she definitely didt ask how everything was thats for sure and Im sorry you dont deny customers the right to see a Manger like who does that .so yeah needless to say Ill never be setting foot inside that place again

Sometimes there is more to a place then what is on the walls. I admit, heading inside Hofbrauhaus Pub and Restaurant is like traveling back in time, which, to me, is something that I find to be charming. To me, what is the most important, is the authentic German food that the friendly team serves. The hot potato salad, green goddess dressing, and homemade horseradish cheese spread are as good as they get. I order the Weinerschnitzel with brown mushroom gravy, which is a dish I look forward to all year long. We are only in the area once or twice a year, however, we go out of our way to support this authentic blast from the past. What most people may not factor in to the cost of an entree is the fact that all meals are served with bread, cheese spread, salad, soup, and two side dishes, a very inclusive meal if you ask me. I have been to some of the finest restaurants in the US and abroad and I rate restaurants based upon value for the dollar, uniqueness of food, and service. With that being said, Hofbrauhaus is one of my familys favorites and has become a tradition. If you want swanky digs, overpriced small plates, or expensive chandeliers to stare at while you eat you are going to miss out. This place serves great food, a lot of it, with a smile, and with an authentic German flair.

My brother, who lived in Marburg Germany for a semester in college, wanted to eat at the Hofbrauhaus for a while now so we decided to take the trip to Abbottstown and give it a try. We both had the Jagerschnitzel. My brother had beets and spatzle as sides, I had the salad and hot potato salad. The food was delicious. I loved the green goddess salad dressing and the hot potato salad tasted just like I expected a good German potato salad to taste. I tasted the spatzle and that too tasted how I expected it would. The person who wrote that it should be longer noodles is wrong, spatzle is not supposed to be a long noodle. So the size should not matter if it tastes good and it did. The Jaegerschnitzel was also delicious. I would agree that there is a slight smoke smell, but it did not bother us. The place was not dusty at all and I thought the beer steins, German "pub" music and gnomes were rather charming. Our waitress was very nice and we felt very comfortable eating here. This is like a neighborhood pub so if you are looking for a snooty restaurant, dont come here. Giving this place less than 3 stars is wrong in so many ways. We will be back and will bring our parents next time. We are all half German and enjoy good German food.

We have been to Germany, we enjoy the place... The atmosphere is like our German grandparents places... We like it a lot, we have been there when it is crowed & when it wasnt... The only time anyone was rude, was the female owner, she was very condescending for a bit, but after we talked for a while she got better... But as I said cold & rude thats a German for you... ha ha ha just kidding... I always get a sample of wurst & Wiener Schnitzel mit spatzel... The Import beer selection is great... We always eat at the restaurant area, but there is a bar area as well. If you’re in the area its a great place to go. My Wife & I travel 2 hours just to eat there, so we like it very much!!! Ive been to German places all around parts of the USA & the prices are all the same...

Place is extremely dirty and needs a renovation immediately, you can actually smell mold in the bathroom. Appetizers were good, we got Chili Cheese Fries, Cheese Fries and Mozz. Sticks. Dinner took forever, the Porterhouse Steak was awful, the crab cakes were so dry they were like Hush Puppies. The Bread Basket was a nice offer, but some of the rolls were hard. The wait staff was okay, forgot to check back and totally forgot our salads that came with the meal. Overall - not worth the price and will not return.

Small out of the way German food restaurant in a small town that you find going off the main roads. The food is okay, but having a beer is great! Old style decoration with the feel of a German eatery. It wasnt crowded when I came through, just local people who know the place. I saw the place as I was traveling through and on my return trip I wanted to go and try it out and I was glad. It was a great atmosphere. I would come back again.

The website gives the illusion of a nice restaurant. Unfortunately this is not the case. The place is very old and outdated. The food is very plain and has no flavor or seasoning. The staff is friendly and try to make you feel welcome, but are seemingly numb to the horrible decor and music. It smells like an old bar that folks smoked in for 50 years. Went looking for an authentic German experience, fail. Will not return
