I am staying right across the street and have visited this coffee house (and they pride themselves on being roasters!) a few times for the sake of proximity. Knowing a fair bit about coffee and roasting myself, and the peaks that pdx offers even as a traveler (especially stumptown roasters), the coffee and espresso this place produces is unforgivable. Notes of : Burn, complete char, cringe inducing, wet horse hair, and dung are impossible to overlook. I can see the beauty even in a hot cup of truck stop coffee, and this is just absolutely disgusting. Lovely location, and their tea service is just dandy, but its an absolute shame otherwise.

Good coffee, super bad service. I like to have my bagel and coffee together. Coffee came in early but the bagel took fooooorrrreeevrrr!!! Had to remind the barista about my bagel order. Waited for another 10 minutes, still no bagel, went back to the counter, asked for my bagel, a clueless face, again... Bagel?? finally the bagel arrived, but all burnt. I didnt know what to do at this point, so I quietly ate the chared bagel, and went back home

On my first time in I bought a mocha. I can understand if one aspect of a mocha may miss the mark but this was an utter waste. First it was luke warm not hot. The milk wasnt foamy, frothy, or velvety. It was flat. The flavor was really bland. I tried to make out a hint of chocolate or espresso but it was just a dishwatery mess. Maybe train your baristas. And for the record it was not during a rush.

Great service, nice people, good coffee. Great view with lots of natural light. Several times Ive received coffee refills for free, and once when the register didnt work, I even got a sandwich on the house. Bad: maybe not as cozy as it could be, but its not that type of coffee shop. The temperature is also a bit cold for my taste, probably below 65 degrees at times.

Good neighborhood shop! My only issue is when I ask for extra flavor in my latte, I never taste it. Or sometimes they forget my drink, its like they are distracted at all times by something up at the counter. The good news is, popular, low key, coffee shop. The grilled cheese is amazing, along with the breakfast sandwiches. And good real iced tea.

Only have been here once, but it seems nice enough. The espresso is good and strong. Music playing in the background is decent. Nice big space. I could really spread out and relax at 8 am on a Sunday. The place feels like it could host a really good open mic. (Dont know if it does) if I found myself in the neighborhood, Id come back!

Hey I really like it here but I think you could up the ante by adding a couch, more arm chairs and coffee tables. Im a designer and I think you have so much potential in the space. The library theme is good and there arent many places in Portland doing it well. More books, comfy chairs and voila, ambiance. Ill be back regardless :-)

Friendly, comfortable and relaxing. Stopped in here briefly to get some tea ND coffee with a friend and ended up sitting down for a bit. We didnt realize that it closed at 7pm but there was no pressure to leave. Ill definitely stop in here again when Im in the area. Prices were in line with coffee shops in general.

I really enjoyed this place. as an avid earl grey drinker, I was very impressed with their tea and their pressing thing they gave me to prepare it. the atmostphere was pretty cool and the location is the best as it is right next to glisan park where can sit and enjoy your beverage!

Im giving a two star just because of the friendly employees. This is the second time we have tried this place and there will not be a third. We ordered Chi Lattes, they are not consumable. Waste of time and money and frustrating that I literally have to pour $10 down the drain..

So-so food (shipped in from a factory somewhere and bland), lack-luster customer service, decent coffee and tea, but way overpriced. The window bar is great for people watching, though the cheap weatherstripping lets all the tobacco smoke from the patio area just drift right in

I was impressed. The baristas are genuinely friendly, very skilled and knowledgeable, the coffees roasted on site, and the pastries come in fresh from the pearl and marsee everyday. Great quality local stuff, and a laid back place to sit and read, study, or meet up.

Love this place!! Always fantastic service and great coffee. If you are here in the fall try the pumpkin pie latte - they use real pumpkin pie spices rather than a sugared syrup and it is to die for!!! Cant say enough great things about this place!!

Overall, this cafe is pretty mediocre. Nothing wonderful, nothing terrible. The "bakery" items all seem to be previously frozen and full of preservatives and the coffee is nothing special. However, there is always a place to sit and charge your laptop.

Really good coffee shop that is comfortable to surf with good free wifi and tasty coffee. A big tv screen displays the olympics or other tasteful content that I didnt mind at all. The staff is fantastic and overall I really like the vibe here.

This place is great. Has good coffee at more than reasonable prices. Well knowledged staff, and a comforting atmosphere. Understandably limited outdoor seating due to Portland winter weather. Give it a try, you wont regret it.

Nice atmosphere with many international folks who stay across street @ NW Portland International Hostel (stay here if you are visiting, nice private rooms). Great location near Pearl District in Historic area.

Their medium roasts are absolutely perfect. Also, they have the best service this side of the water. The baristas are always kind and funny. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. I love this place.

Solid selection of eco-oriented coffees and teas, as well as sandwiches and pastries. Expansive windows, comfortable seating, and wi-fi invite customers to linger. The staff can be bothersome at times.

Best dark roast. Great location. Music is generally a notch too loud and obtrusive, but otherwise a great place to meet, read, study, gaze, listen, chat or down some great teas and coffee drinks.

I was kinda expecting something soccer-themed, but it was more of a worldly ecological theme. I had a latte, and it was alright. The seating is nice, too. Pretty average cafe.

I know coffee very well, and I say that their coffee is strong and robust. The employees are not the best, but overall, good coffee shop. Good espresso, and macchiato.

Great latte costs 50¢ more than terrible lattes from other places. It is so satisfying to carry in a stack of books from Powells to look at before buying!

The coffee by Portland standards is alright - anywhere else it would be amazing. They roast the coffee there which is cool. Nice neighborhood place.

Brilliant. Just brilliant drip coffee. Not the kind of place to go and sit down, but if you care about good coffee, this is the place to go.
