The most wonderful, unassuming, yet still top tier, coffee house with a Portland address...and there are obviously a lot of good ones in Coffee Mecca (aka Portland, Oregon). This is my favorite place in the entire city to spend an afternoon working. I drive all the way from Southwest for the people and the wonderful spirit of the place, and of course, for the best cold brew in town (everything else will taste like old cold truck stop coffee after you try this). Their espresso and teas are fantastic as well. After having gotten to know the baristas personally, and hearing the story of Cathedrals construction and founding, it is now obvious to me why Ive always felt such a strong allure to be present in this space. This place is built on real love, as much as any commercial establishment Ive ever encountered. They make all of their own pastries and are always looking for ways to innovate their various selections outside of coffee. On that note, I am ecstatic to try their new brunch/breakfasts that began this week! God Bless Cathedral Coffee!

Me and my husband visited this place during our weekend gateway to Portland. We went to grab a quick coffee as this place was right next to where we were staying. As soon as we entered, I was sold by the nice cozy ambiance and very friendly staff and we decided to grab our breakfast there and spend some time glancing thru the nice collection of books available on the shelf. My husband got baked sausage sandwich (something like that, dont remember the name correctly) and chai latte (he told both were awesome). I was not feeling much hungry as I had some protein bar before so got cappuccino (awesome) and they customized the menu as I wanted two eggs sunny side up. It was really nice time, I would definitely go back when/if I visit Portland again and recommend this place to everyone.

A friend and I stopped in for a "quick" brunch while riding out to Sauvie Island for #SSCXWCxPDX. Saturday morning and full but not packed. We found a seat in the small dining area. I ordered a sweet waffle special (they also had a savory waffle) that was on the chalk board and friend had bacon, egg, biscuit sandwich. Both were EXTREMELY tasty, but we joked that they were made in the cozy kitchen you could see in the corner of the shop, by caring hands, while they were filming an episode of Portlandia. It was not a "quick" brunch. Probably 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Definitely eat there, but dont be in a hurry.

This is a double review. Great coffee and a great place to sit and flip open your laptop. But if you feel a bit more adventurous, grab your coffee and head down Edgewater. Walk around the gate and keep walking down the abandoned road. When you get to the bottom of the road you will cross some railroad tracks. From the tracks, cross the big concrete parking lot and you will see a small path to a beach on the river near some abandoned concrete structures and a little lagoon with a couple boats. Now, Im not saying it isnt sketchy, but it is an adventure.

This is one of the most underrated and best coffee shops in Portland. Easily one the best in N. Portland. The coffee is excellent and they have great chai too. But I have to say, the food is one of the things that keeps me coming back. The homemade cinnamon rolls are excellent and on the weekends they have sweet and savory waffles on the menu for brunch. These waffles are the best in the city and not to be missed. The environment and atmosphere are great for reading, studying, working or visiting so plan on staying awhile when you come.

I spend a lot of time in a lot of coffee shops working around portland. I am super into coffee too, roasting my own green beans and making pour overs at home. This place has a great vibe. You can definitely chill here. They bake their own goods. Just opened in Sept 2013. We had the sweet potato, bacon, hand pie and it rocked. I talked to the owners about their coffee, where they get it from, whats on drip, the flavors etc. They source their beans from roasters who are trained by the best here in portland. Open 6:30am-7pm every day.

Disappointing. Coffee and service have fallen by the wayside. Used to come here frequently. Took at 6 month break - came back today, and the service has gone downhill. Server came by with my latte, and spilled a good part of it in the saucer. He said "Oh well," and left. Not even an apology, a proposal to make me a new cup, nothing. He was 56", glasses, shorter hair, and a beard that should have been in a hair net. Needless to say, thats a reason to not come back. Too many better coffee shops in St. Johns.

This summer I toured major coffee shops in Portland with a friend visiting from Japan and this was the last place we tried, it was a great note to finish on! Like most cafes in Portland they know their way around an espresso drink, unlike many other cafes in Portland they have a pretty wide range of slightly more hearty than average snacks. They had lots of seating (even some really cute out-door spots), which catered well both to the quiet studiers and the sit-and-chatters.

One time the barista here re-made my Americano 2 or 3 times because the shots werent pulling great. This would probably bother some people, but it showed a great attention to detail. To this day, probably one of the best Americanos I have had. The interior here is beautiful and the handmade mugs they serve their drinks in show even more care and attention to detail. The pastries are great too if youre coming hungry.

I had anniversary coffee and an orange espresso bar. I thought the bar tasted a little stale; it was still definitely good. Made a comment to the male owner and was served a second bar that was better . . . that is better than good! Prices are a little higher than Starbucks, the coffee is comparable to Starbucks, the desserts are way better than Starbucks, the atmosphere is more rustic and more friendly.

Really cozy and cool coffee shop. We had 4 drinks and they were all excellent. They said all syrups are organic but they do not have any sugar free (not even stevia-based). There are a lot of seats though Im sure during busy times, it might be hard to get one! I would recommend this to anyone craving coffee, tea, pastries, or even a fresh soda!

My wife and I stayed at the Embassy Suites across the road and ate here twice for breakfast. It does tend to get quite busy so you might expect a short wait - but its totally worth it. Everything we had was phenomenal and we found the staff to be very knowledgeable of the menu and made excellent recommendations.

I stumbled across this place a few weeks ago while trying to kill some time before an appointment. The coffee was good and the food quite tasty. It has a nice and airy layout with a variety of books to browse through if you do not have something with you, likely to find something of interest. Excellent WiFi.

One of my favorite coffee shops in N. Portland. The chai is of particular note - spicy and robust! They also have great treats and delicious brunch options. There is generally enough seating and the atmosphere is cozy and laid back. Plus, you can grab a book from their mini library while you enjoy your drink!
