Ive been coming here for quite a while having gone to grad school in SW Portland. I found Maplewood then and now to be all its seen to be: cozy, quiet, and comfortable--all with great coffee and café fare. In the past it was a relatively unknown neighborhood cafe with typical-for-Portland awful hours. Now the hours are much, much better and they have more seating and space. Yet it still retains that requisite and appropriate cozy feel that has made it the haunt of many a neighbor. Perhaps most importantly theyve relatively recently switched from Stumptown coffee to Extracto. Despite Stumptown being generally excellent coffee, Extracto is in my opinion one of the premier roasters in a city full of premier roasters (Coava, Heart, etc). The baristas in my experience have also made sure that the drinks are, too, finished in perfection. All this being said, Maplewood is comfortably 5/5. Come check it out but.... you know, dont tell too many people as we want them to remain small an unassuming;-)

Great neighborhood coffee shop. Friendly staff, good coffee, and beer on tap. Nice quiet place to study, and if your dietary restrictions are so harsh that you can only eat gluten-free sustainably caught unbleached free range organic hedge trimmings , you can probably still find something to eat here. Little known fact: this place has an amazing secret back room that is fantastic for little kids. There are toys and books, and it since its separated from the store front, you dont have to worry about disturbing other customers. They even rent it out for parties, and its a great deal!

Great little neighborhood coffee shop right in Maplewood. I live just down the street and it makes a great place to walk to with the kids. The wife loves the coffee, and I like the hot chocolate. They have lots of pastries, including gluten-free. Maplewood Coffee & Tea returns this old building to a commercial use. It originally was the general store for the neighborhood back when the Oregon Electric Railway had a stop at this location.

Great neighborhood coffee shop that just added a nice food menu. Kind of hidden in the Maplewood neighborhood near the school. Great coffee, perhaps some of the best in the city. On par with some of the big name places downtown. Owners is very cool, letting neighborhood groups using the cafe for group meetings and events.

Very cute coffee shop tucked away in the Maplewood neighborhood. The drinks and pastries that they serve here are very good, especially since they serve Stumptown. Parking is a little precarious here as it is all street parking, but that just means you and your friends should carpool here to spend more time together!

Sweet and charming coffee shop minutes from my home. I love it here and bring as many friends as possible! Rose bushes in the garden, lots of small and large tables to choose from, larger room and smaller cozy rooms overlooking the garden, this place is a gem! Every neighborhood should have a place like this!

This neighborhood coffee and tea place is my favorite writing spot in Portland so far. I love the trees and out-of-the-way location, the staff is always friendly, and they have a great selection of beverages. Im also a huge fan of the quiche, which is the lightest, silkiest quiche Ive ever had.

The most charming & secluded coffee shop in Portland. Always seem to be more productive when I come here. Wonderful food and pastries, beautiful addition in the back overlooking a garden. I recommend coming in around 1-2pm, when the afternoon light is just starting to stream in.

Its a pretty neighborhood-y sort of place. Thoughtful food, nice coffee, good vibe. Its not an internet cafe, study hall or library. People hang out here to eat and chat and relax and have fun. The staff is super nice and smart. Nicely done, guys. It was a pleasure!

Lovely place and terrific selection of beer and cider, but they cant make a cup of coffee to save their lives. The brewed stuff is as weak as a roadside EZ-Mart off a MidWest interstate, and the foamed drinks...well, lets just say they cant make an espresso. Its a shame.

Cute cafe, has hemp milk, which I love. Sometimes the music is a little annoying. Theres a separate kids area, but plenty of kids in the general area, especially right after school. If you need to get some work done its not always the best spot.

I absolutely adore this place. It is everything I hope for in a coffee shop. A delicious cappuccino, almond milk, pastries and the most perfect atmosphere. Pro-top: Make sure your devices are good and charged. There are only 2 outlets available.

Small little coffee shop / ice cream cafe with all the right stuff. Really solid breakfast sandwich, specialty coffee drinks, and some fun ice cream coffee combinations. They could use a chai latte and more custom coffee flavors though!

The setting is beautiful, and I felt very relaxed. Great drip too! Unfortunately theres no place to plug in a laptop or phone charger. Thats a big no no for me, otherwise this would be 5 stars.

Sweet little neighborhood cafe with more space than you would guess. Nice area for parents with kids to let them play while enjoying coffee or other drink.

We have been here many times and it is great. The main barista and Manager, Chelsea, makes us feel at home and makes great coffees. This place rocks!!

Coffee and customer service okay. Nothing about it seperates itself from other independent coffee shops. Iced mocha is great.

Latte too acidic. Super cute atmosphere, though... set in the woods almost, and the prices were pretty good
