They dont seem to emphasize it much, but pho soup is available. However my favorite is the pepper salted squid. Light and crispy, this is the only place Ive been that can truly cook it right. Before Id gotten into authentic Asian food I was a little squeamish, but I read a newspaper review that said "the closest thing you can compare it to is sour cream and onion potato chips," so I tried it and Ive been hooked ever since. Jin Wah is happy to serve the typical Chinese food westerners are accustomed to, but also serve very authentic fare, as I discovered witnessing a Chinese family having a patriarchs birthday party in the restaurant. While the Powell & 82nd location may lack the atmosphere of the Beaverton location, the cooking is still very much on par. You know youre in a good ethnic restaurant when people of that ethnicity frequent it, and sometimes its hard to get a seat! True, the staff can sometimes be a bit "all-business," but Ive found them to be hardworking and honest, and they assume the same of you. Theyre open late and serve lots of take-out, so call ahead and it will be waiting for you!

Never go this Jin Wah. Horrible service. Drove 30 minutes to get there and they messed up my to go order after verifying it with them three times and once more just after I picked it up. I drove 30 minutes only to be very upset that they gave me two plates of broccoli beef when I ordered one broccoli beef and sweet and sour chicken. So I had to drive back 30 minutes to return the bad order. The only thing I got offered for my waste of gas and one hour and a half of my time, was a small insulting discount. Learn to treat humans better. Save yourself time and gas. The Jin wah in beaverton is much better. I know the manager there. Be warned of this location on SE Powell

The people in the place are usually about 90% Asian (both staff and customers) which I thought was good sign, so I tried the peppered tofu, salad rolls, sizzling rice soup, chow mien and string beans. All the dishes were tasty and fresh. The service was just fine, dont expect them to do a dance for you or say a whole lot (if you are a gringo like me anyway) but dont confuse that with unfriendliness or poor service. The prices are good, and the menu has lots of great choices. I live nearby and the smell from that place makes me want to eat there, I cant say the same for a lot of other places nearby.

This review is for Thien Hoang under new ownership. It used to be Jin Wah for many years. Ive been here several times, latest visit was 2 nights ago. Ive decided to finally leave a review. The food is overpriced like everything on the menu. They also charged $3 for steamed rice....Food was on the salty side and heavily seasoned with MSG. Woke up to a severe dry throat. I do not recommend this spot. The food didnt taste bad at all but being overpriced and MSG heavy is good enough reason not to return.

VERY BAD SERVICE, but being asian, I sort of expected it.. I do end up receiving my food, and LOVED it.. well if a person is hungry enough, theyll be thankful.. But The ladies there are very inattentive.. My bf always ends up walking to the cashier and ASKING for the menus!.. I think its hilarious.. but when specials come up, I think its worth the money.. like right now its their $6 phos!!~ Im in heaven!

My friend and I just left this place mid meal. While we were eating I noticed two bugs by her arm. These roach looking bugs crawled up to the board on the wall and two more came out with them. We proceeded to tell the lady at the register, and she told us to just leave. While we were walking out we noticed two girls taking a video of the bugs by their table. This place is bug run and filthy.

My wife & I are cross-country truck drivers. With that said, we eat all over the U.S. I have to say EVERYTHING we had was absolutely delicious.from the spring roll (not store bought...you can tell), fresh spring roll & to the entrees. The restrooms were clean & my wife saw a woman on the floor scrubbing the floor in the womens restroom. I SAY THIS PLACE WAS WORTH MY $120.00 WE JUST SPENT!!

Every time I go,I order something Ive had that I love, and something new. Only when tofu is involved have I been unhappy with the results. Highly recommend the eggplant and scallops in a clay pot, the crispy eggplant, the duck and taro root in a clay pot, the sliced cat fish, and the coconut seafood soup. Bam. That just happened.

Ive never eaten here, but their website is absolutely redick. There is no menu. Instead they seem to focus on pictures that seem to come from a hotel and possibly hospital or nursing home. There is no useful information here.

Jin Wah is my favorite sit-down Chinese restaurant in PDX. Its standard Cantonese fair, but with large portions. They have good Vietnamese food, too. Personally, I havent tried the dim sum at this Jin Wah location.

the poor customer service. This must be looked past as these fine people have the best pepper salted grub in town. If youd like a friend, theres always your shrink! Come here for the great food.

Great food, horribly slow service. I got my food upwards of ten minutes before my wife did. And it took I think 45 minutes fir me to get my entree.
