Such a great place now that you’re no longer allowed to smoke in bars! It was difficult for a lot of patrons to check this place out due to the smokiness of the bar but once the banned was established I feel like it is a much more pleasant spot to visit late night. They have a fantastic happy hour which includes personal pizzas, cheesy fries, and various others items but what makes Slow Bar stick out is their amazing burger! Oh boy are they good! The Slow Burger is a huuuuuge burger with two giant onion rings that you might just have to eat by themselves unless you’re able to get them in your mouth with a bite (I’d be very impressed). The only thing bigger than their burgers are the AWESOME booths. There are not many places in Portland you will feel as isolated from your neighbors as Slow Bar.

I love this damn sexy bar. Unassuming from the outside, and simple inside yet classier than you might think. One of the best bar food menus in town. Known for the famous Slow Burger, but with loads of other dishes available, too, many on discount for Happy Hour. My favorite is the Pizzetta... flavor of the day rotates daily or theres an awesome veggie one (spinach, whole roasted cloves or garlic, tomato) as well. Bartenders are rad. Tunes are rocking. Couple of TVs, though they are definitely not a main attraction. You can hide out in a tall, swanky booth playing footsies drinking Southern Lemonades and no one would ever find ya... unless you want to be found. Theres also a nice-sized lounge/couches area up front that is great for groups, and several outside tables.

Came here on a Barfly Bus tour... so the memory, even though this was only the second stop, does get a bit fuzzy. Slow bar is in a strange spot, off Grand/MLK near the Eastbank Saloon, etc... you might miss it, though it does make for an interesting pub crawl spot of you hit the Eastbank, Slow Bar, head to Le Merde and Bunk Bar, etc... What is nice about the place is its 2001:Space Odyssey/Barbarella-eqsue booths. Put on some high platform heels and youll feel at home. They play some pretty good music, and the bartenders pour well, nothing crazy or unique on the drink menu, but prices are fair Eastside level, and you could have a nice time just hanging out here.

Im torn because I really do love this place and the food. The 5 buck burger and southern fry are absolutely bomb. But I called to place an order because I have short lunches at work. I like to have the food ready so I can eat and drink right when I get there. The lady over the phone told me that they dont do that but I can place it to go. I politely asked if I could place it to go and eat it there so I can enjoy the bar. She said they dont do that. Pretty frustrated with the situation. Definitely lost my business for a little bit.

When the late-night burger craving starts creeping in (as it always does), its hard to do too much better than Slow Bar. Their signature burger, dramatically presented with a large onion ring on top of the patty, is one of the best burgers in town, and you can get it as long as the bar is open. If you see one of the bars high-backed, sort-of-private booths, grab it immediately--you may not want other diners watching whats going to happen when that burger arrives. It will be messy, and it will be amazing.

Dont leave here without trying the "stinky" fries. Also sessions beer in a bucket of ice is always welcome. The booths are clean as is the bar. This place gives you the impression youre walking into a dive bar at the door but immediately impresses you with is progressive interior and attentive staff. I guess it used to be a skinhead bar and for some reason they kept the red light in the bathroom to keep junkies from shooting up- Judging from the clientele this is clearly no longer necessary.

One of my better burger experiences in Portland (I got the signature SlowBar Burger with the onion rings on the top). Im not quite sure how to categorize Slow Bar... its a little bit dive, a little bit hipster, but with a little bit of a polished feel (in comparison to other hipster locales). The girls that work here have the right amount of spunk to them. Also, love the oversized cushy rounded booths. I felt like I was in a tilt-o-whirl made out of pillows.

Sigh. Slow Bar Southern Fry. Why are you so dreamy? Your perfectly crispy breaded fried chicken, the yummy garlic butter, smoky barbecue sauce, creamy ranch and those hush puppies…so doughy and delicious. You’re all I could ever want. I love you. You’re my everything. Love always, Jenny. (But seriously, you will fall in love with the southern fry and melt into one of Slow Bar’s big comfy booths. Be sure to order their Bloody Mary, even during the late hours!)

A small yet classy bar that has some great drinks an amazing food. Ask the bartender for whiskey recommendations as they always have a few amazing bottles on the shelf. Dont overlook their food menu though, it has some amazing treats such as the Southern Fry - chicken strips southern seasoned and battered then shallow fried served with hush puppies. The last time I had chicken this good was when my grandma was in the kitchen.

A good place to end the night after an eventful night. I got a beer and the Philly cheese steak sandwich. Good service but the sandwich was very dry and tasted a little burnt and I got burnt fries instead of a salad that I ordered but to be honest it was probably better for me to eat since I had been drinking haha. But still good. Just not the best. Good music. Nice enviorment to chill out.

Worst service. We got our drinks, then never got to order any food. I would never go back, or recommend this place. The only reason why I went was because of all the supposed great reviews about this place. Servers are the most unfriendliest people. Hands down. The only nice thing I have to say about this place, is that they have stiff drinks, hence the one star!

I always accidentally call this place Slow Burger and it might as well be true. Their burger is one of the best in town, especially for $10. They have a decent tap selection and solid happy hour menu as well. Service tends to be slow, but then its in the name. They only cook my burger to the correct temperature about half the time, but besides that no complaints.

Does the Slow Bar have the best burger in Portland. For a bar I would say YES. The Slow Bar is great little dark bar with quality cocktails & food right next to maybe one of the divest bars in Portland. Also a little known fact is that they will giver you a free beer if you bring in your Free Chalupa coupon from the a Blazers game!

Oh god, the burger. The burger. I cant say enough. The burger. If youre looking for a delicious burger, come here. The often get busy and seating arrangements isnt usually ideal so that can be a minus, but if you can get a booth or a seat at the bar then have the burger. Did I mention to try the burger?
