Took the in-laws here for my mother in-laws birthday. I was super excited to try this place and was rather disappointed with the service. The food was fantastic, but the service was horrible. We had reservations at 5 and the table next to us got their food before us and left before us. Three us of ordered from the dining month menu which I thought was boring, there were only 2 options to choose from. They offered us an upgraded dessert for waiting so long. That was a disappointment and glad we didnt have to pay for it as it wouldnt have been worth it. I dont think we will be going back ever. The service/wait alone is enough to deter us from going back. For being a Fish House they could have had more to offer on the dining month menu. A pasta squid dish and medallions was all they had and if you wanted prawns with those medallions it was an extra $9. So disappointed!

Eating at Ringside Fish House in Portland, Oregon, was one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life, memorable because it was so horrible. My "squid" pasta basically had no squid in it, and tasted as though someone had poured rancid fish oil over noodles. Inedible. But my dissatisfaction had begun earlier. When my wife and came in and stood at the desk of the hostess, she never looked up, never said hello, never asked if we had a resrvation, etc. Once seated, it took fifteen minutes before water was brought to the table, another ten minutes before bread arrived, and then came the dinner. Our salads were small (tiny) and the dressing one pepper-flake above bland. My wifes medallion of steak was good, and the potatoes that came with it excellent. The chocolate dessert was also excellent. The atmosphere in the room was pleasant, the sound level peerfect.

They need to hire an experienced server. She has a great sales pitch for the daily special but actual table waiting was very unskilledl, clearly she was hired for her upsell skills. Also we were asked repeatedly by server and other people how our meal was...constantly interupting our conversation. I expect it a few times but it was at least 6 and more like 8 times. Followed by a written survey we felt obligated to complete. Servings are undersized (especially for the price) on some menu items. Coleslaw came in a sauce container well ahead of the meal and appetizer was barely on the table when the meals came. Skinny fries were so so. Breaded fried fish was literally breaded rather than batter and no option of breading vs battered vs other method as is often the case in seafood restaurants. Onion rings are outstanding.

The Other Ringside. Usually when you think Ringside, the old school steakhouse on Burnside comes to mind, but Ringside Fish House is very different from its sister restaurant. The decor is modern and very nautical. The staff are sharp and savvy. We had a fab red blend wine by St. Amant called Bootleg. If you like spicy, theres a genius cocktail called the "Hot Mess" thats not on the menu but theyll make it if you ask nice. I dont normally indulge in onion rings but another table had them and they looked so impressive we had to try them. They were the best Ive ever tasted. Everyone liked their entrées but I have to say the halibut and especially my New York steak were puny. A $50+ steak should be at least 50% larger. Its listed as 10 oz but theres no way it could have been. Nevertheless we had a fantastic meal.

Our splurge meal for our stop in Portland and it was quite good. The lobster soup was by far the best we have ever had. We had some issues with our other dishes (chilies left out of our ceviche, uncleaned lobster tail, lack of much sauce on a fish entree that needed it), but they were quickly corrected by our waitress. The whole staff from hostess to server to manager were all very friendly and helpful. Surprised that despite mentioning it was a special occasion for us and the issues that arose with our food that they didnt offer any complimentary item as a gesture of apology or congratulations. But overall we had a very good meal and our waitress really went above and beyond.

I’ve never really written reviews for the restaurants before but I just went to Ringside Fishhouse today and couldn’t help but describe my experience. It was the worst service me and my friends have ever experienced (and I have been to – the waiter was rude and unprofessional. In addition to being rude he brought us food that we didn’t order and didn’t bring food that we ordered. Finally he included things in the bill that we have never ordered and some things were priced differently from the menu. We called the manager, but he didn’t seem to care. We all were confused and frustrated and the evening was spoiled. I really think that this is unacceptable for any restaurant.

I went in there tonight with a large group of heavy drinkers. I asked the head waiter to bring my check separately. Next thing I know, the waiter for the table came over and suggested he bring the check for everyone and could we figure it out on our own. One of party said OH YES, whatever is easiest. So dear lazy waiter and incompetent head waiter who couldnt be bothered to run my check, and would rather ignore my request. I will not forget you and will be happy to spread the word of my newly made disgust. A few minutes of attention could have created POSITIVE PR. You decided.

Okay I would have given the place 5 stars but the server was annoying the hell out of me. He kept talking about how items were expensive. My boyfriend said can I get three stuff cheese olives for my martini and he talked about the cost of the olives and was unsure they could accommodate. Part of me wanted to tell him that I could afford everything on the menu and then some. The food itself was amazing. I had the prime rib and king crab legs. We shared a appetizer of crab cakes and they were good as well

My husband and I went here before a show and it was absolutely delicious! I was super impressed with how fresh and flavorful everything was- you could really tell the chef cared about putting out quality dishes. I LOVED their lobster thermidor and prime rib tartare (which was diced by hand, not ground) which was a special that night. Our service was very friendly and funny as well as on top of everything (Thanks, Caleb!). I highly recommend this place for a wonderful night out :)

Great (to the point of hovering) service, nice view. Expected spectacular food for a spectacular price. While the latter rang true, the former was only very good. Scallops were well prepared and gnocchi was very good, but it seemed to be swimming in a sea of gooey lard. Sea Bass was also nicely prepared, but the greens and beans lacked flavor. The dessert menu was missing the signature item of the day which finally appeared in a card with the bill, so we missed out on that.

I had the Shrimp roll. It was OK. The mayo might have been house made. I dont know. However, it did not have a good tang that a house mayo should have. The shrimps were a good size..maybe 25-30s? It is a very good value at only $3.75 with chips. The rest of their menu looked to be a great deal. Steak bites for $2.25? I may have to check it out. The bar layout is pretty spacious and they had the right amount of TVs. A very cool, upscale place to chill for Happy Hour or a game.
