We warned. If you are going to Mint to celebrate a Birthday or a just want to have drinks with some friends and or sitting in a group of 6 or more, the waiters at Mint add a 20% gratuity on to your total bill. Our waiter Lucas told us that this standard practice for all groups sitting (maybe not standing or kneeling or laying down or maybe standing but leaning against something but a table) in a group of 6 or more regardless of you are eating 1 appetizer or none, they need to add 20%. Wow. It would have been o.k. if Lucas(the waiter) had given us any service and had not stereotyped us as a group housewifes who will camp at his table all night and drink water. There was 7 of us, each woman had between 3 and 4 drinks @ $9.00 a drink, 2 appetizers and we had to wait about 20 - 25 minutes in between each drink and the last 30 minutes we were there, he never returned for a drink forcing the group to leave to go somewhere we could get served. Lucas spoiled the evening for all of us and profited off the group having to take the "high ground" on his undeserved gratuity. Suck experience. Over priced drinks. Bad bad bad service. Mediocre food. Word of mouth, priceless.

The cocktail I had (a blackberry martini) was really good. Their drink menu is very innovative and interesting. Sadly, the porkchop I ordered was very undercooked and tough. I had to saw and saw on it with my knife to cut it and it tasted awful. Finally I peered closely at it in the dim light and saw they had cooked it medium rare like a steak. When I let the server know, she indicated that this was purposeful and something to the effect that it is an acquired taste. Really? I thought everyone knew its not safe to undercook pork. She did take it back and have them cook it, but by then I was pretty grossed out. Then we tried to order dessert but many of them have cayenne or hot pepper and they were out of the only one that didnt. I might go back to try some more of their drinks, but not to eat dinner there.

This is my husbands and my favorite Portland restaurant. We get the lamb burger every time (though they recently changed the spice in it, its still delicious) and enjoy the vast array of martinis and mixed drinks. They can be a bit pricey, but if you go during happy hour you can get the lamb burger for about $8 and it STILL comes with the amazing sweet potato fries. We have tried over half their drinks, and have not been disappointed by a single one. Our favorites are O, the Spanish Armada, Heaven, one with espresso liqueur (cant remember the name), and Bella. All are amazing, but these are our favorites. I would definitely recommend for a date night or a place to chill in an easy going environment. Its great!

Friendly, prompt service coupled with a delicious dinner, Mint is definitely worth a visit. My family and I went on a Sunday night when only the bar section is open. We began our meal with cocktails. I gave the Aniversario Manhattan a go. A perfect concoction on a cold winters night. We passed on appetizers and jumped directly into entrees. My hanger steak was cooked to perfection and the lightly salted fingerling potatoes were scrumptious. My wife and I finished with flour less chocolate cake, a must! Overall I would rate Mint, A+

I love Mint. I have always had good service and I go there quite often. If you get there early enough, you can sit downstairs with a large group--otherwise I wouldnt suggest a party larger than four. My favorite drink is the Ruby--a beet infused vodka martini. I also love the Freestyle (which is not on the menu) martini made with mango and cinnamon. Their appetizers are good--try the calamari or sweet potato fries. Regular dinner is overpriced and you can find better nearby.

Mint is really cool. In a town where the booze flows freely, Mint has managed to come up with a cocktail list both inventive, and unexpected. Its also a very convenient happy hour or "start the night off" spot because its so close to the yellow line, and parking is usually good close by. Im always on the hunt for a good date spot, and Mint is definitely a place you can suggest for a romantic rendezvous.

Tried a sip of a friends cocktail it was interestingly awesome! Like a mojito but comes with cilantro muddled (strangely not MINT) and comes spicy. She chose to additionally have it with spicy vodka instead of regular vodka. This drink was an explosion of goodness in my mouth. Try it :)

Love to eat here during happy hour (only time I can afford it). Love the Pinapple drop-like spring in your mouth. I also like the berry martini. I am not a fan of lamb, but do usually order the lamb burger with sweet potato fries, and savor it! Nice vibe, and always great service.

One word: Incredible. Their cocktail concoctions are mouth-watering and soul satisfying. Such a great patio to enjoy one (or seven) with friends. Waiting for Toro Bravo and Secret Society is packed? Fine. Walk the few blocks (enjoy the sun) and sneak off to Mint.

I celebrated a birthday here, and the cocktails were delicious! It was a weeknight and we were the only party there, though the bar next door had other customers. We really enjoyed Mint and well be back on other special occasions!

A moody, off-the-beaten-path cocktail spot. Really solid drinks and great sweet potato fries with a sriracha aioli. Ive never been on a weekend, but weeknights Ive been there have been comfortably quiet without being deserted.

One of my favorite place places to take a date if I have one. The cocktails are very good and inventive and the sweet potato fries are amazing. The happy hour is a good value and I highly encourage you to try the place.

Food was good, but overpriced. Creme brulee wasnt up to par (or even close) & had cinnamon in it. Couldnt finish it. Yuck. Beef and lamb burgers were good, but for almost half the price you could go to Red Robin.

We really enjoyed Mints ambiance, drinks, and the food. We were really happy with everything we had (the O mint julep was the best drink I have had in a long long time) and I am looking forward to going back.

Mint/820 has AMAZING cocktails and a nice happy hour. Dinner is expensive but good quality. Service tends to be dismally slow and very inconsistent for some reason. Very nice patio for summertime.

Cocktails are excellent, as is the food. I recommend the spicy guava cosmo for drinks and the arancini for food. Delicious. :-)
