This place is almost firing on all cylinders. Staff was great, warm, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Full of information and recommendations when needed. The food was almost there, but a bit boring and unimaginative. The quality and preparation were all great, but the combination of ingredients was pretty bland. I had the turkey hash, which connotes thoughts of hash browns, thick slices of roast turkey, peppers onions, egg, all sorts of deliciousness. That was not the case here. It was good quality deli turkey that was browned in some butter with spices then thrown atop some roasted red potatoes with some peppers and onions swimming in the bottom. Again, very tasty ingredients on their own, but not cohesive on the plate. My wife had basically the same experience with the kale benedict. We will definitely give it another shot, but it will probably be for drinks and apps on the patio when the weather is nice.

Beautiful restaurant with a fantastic view. It was my first visit there the other day, I was greeted my a supervisor and a bartender who were very kind and encouraged me to take a look at the menu and a look around. As I was looking around, the manager stops me and rudely asks "Can I Help you?" He stared at me like I was a complete idiot for having brushed some crumbs off one of his tables as I was passing through. He proceeded with rude remarks and made the experience quite disappointing and unwelcoming. I kindly said "Have a wonderful day" on my way out, but I honestly dont understand how amazing restaurants can achieve to thrive on such poor, and disrespectful service - from a Manager, no less.

It was a Saturday night at 8:45p. The server lacked warmth, no smile, not bubbly or personable. Yes, she served us and checked on us, but a warm smile would have been appreciated. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view of the water. Nice scenery. Had one glass of wine and left. Im on the search for a restaurant to have our company dinner in December for 36 employees. I believe in second chances so we plan to go again in two weeks to see it theres a warmer atmosphere. The bar area had a nice atmosphere and bartender was fun.

Since opening in May, Aquariva has been quietly serving one of Portlands most innovative menus in one of the citys best riverside dining locations. I love it. I walk there along the river from downtown every Sunday for a well-priced brunch; the staff are always friendly and the food is consistently some of the best in town. Why bother with the hype, waiting in line, and terrible parking in the Pearl when I can walk or valet park down here for a peaceful river view dining experience thats hard to match!

As a traveling consultant, I have had the opportunity to order room service from Aquariva on several occasions while staying at the Avalon Hotel & Spa. I have had the Gnocci, the Kobe, salads and the New York steak. In all cases I have been disappointed. The gnocci was inedible, the culotte a terrible disappointment and only the steak was a meal I finished. Even the salads lack imagination and flavor. There are several other restaurants in the area, including Subway, which I would recommend over Aquariva

The staff were pleasant, the kitchen flexible in "veggie-ing" up an entree for me, and the food was absolutely delicious. My only complaint is the lack of reasonably-priced wines. The wine list was full of $50-$60 and up bottles, which is a shame. There was not a single $40 or under bottle to be found, and while Im not a super-knowledgeable person, the names on the list were not necessarily the "creme de la creme". But they did have nice beers, so I elected to go the way of the hops, instead.

GAVE RESTAURANT 2 STARS FOR LOCATION. UPON ARRIVAL THE TABLES ALONG WINDOW SEATING AREA WERE DIRTY AND THE CHAIR CUSHIONS AND PILLOWS ON BENCHED SEATING AREA WERE FILTHY. DRINKS WERE OKAY, WAITER FORGOT, NOR OFFERED STRAWS....WE ORDERED OYSTERS AND CAULIFLOWER, OYSTERS WERE ROOM TEMPERATURE, EXTRA SLIMY, NOT VERY FRESH. THE CAULIFLOWER WAS WELL, WELL DONE, OVER COOKED. I COMPLAINED TO WAITER, NOTHING WAS DONE, OFFERED TO MAKE IT RIGHT.....WONT GO BACK....DISAPPOINTING

My wife and I had breakfast/brunch, it was not that impressive. The food was just ok, the service was terrible. The mimosa and bloody mary bar had a nice selection and presentation. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant, kind of a strange emptyness for 10am on a Sunday. The building and location is fantastic, but I expected the food to match. It was disappointing. I really think Elmers has better breakfast than this place. We wont be back.

Went here for Fathers Day brunch. Great views of the river. Had eggs benedict that were absolutely divine. Also had a lot of fun helping my Mom at the create-your-own bloody mary bar. They even had teeny tiny bottle of Tabasco of which I may or may not have snagged a few to take (I love miniature things). After brunch we went for a lovely walk along the river; great location.

Run Away- The lunch scene at Aquariva was terrible. Seeing the bar in the day time was disgusting. It looks like it hasnt been cleaned in months. Walls have holes in them. Ordered a burger with a side salid, was over done and very greasy. lettuce was old turning brown. Very poor service. Environment suffering from an identity crisis

Steak and potatoes had zero flavor. Potatoes were very dry and appeared to have been sitting for quite a while. My wife had pork which was tasty but lacking in sides. Contrary to the food the service was outstanding. Unfortunately the service didnt out weight the quality of food, especially for the money.

Decent environment and decor. The experience stops there. Server was pretentious and simply felt obligated to wander by, not help out at all. Actually poured all our own wine. App selection seemed to include 95% salads and one hot item? Brisket was garbage, charred beyond belief. Very disappointing.

Very accommodating, no charge for bikes to ride around town -first come, first serve. They offered a ride in their Lincoln Navigator for our dinner downtown just from having friendly conversation. Very relaxing and off the beaten path.

Come here for great food and wait service (the host can be a little rude if you dont make a reservation for 4+ people, even when the entire place is empty) but the food is amazing and so is the wait staff

I went here on a date weekend with my partner, and it is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food! The river view is quite lovely, and the attached hotel is quite cozy. The service is great!

My last few visits to Aquariva have been excellent. The food has been excellent lately. Im always amazed that its not more crowded. The setting on the river is unmatched in Portland.

Great food at a good price. Wait staff is very up beat. A fun place to go for team lunch. Scenic views of the river. Easy to find and away from downtown traffic. Valet parking is free.

The dining room floor was really a mess. The food was eat able but not hot. The restrooms were filthy. I know it was Christmas but they could have faked being happy. Will not return.
