First off, be careful about the hours. We discovered that they do have winter hours, and close at 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday rather than the 10:00 listed here. My wife and I have dined here several times, and it is our restaurant of choice when we are in the neighborhood. The food and service have always been fantastic, and we have never had complaints. Even the eclectic mix of music that they play has been enjoyable. However, last week we happened to be in the neighborhood later in the evening, and stopped in for a bite to eat. This was our first encounter with less than perfect service. The food was cold when it came to the table, and even after being warmed back up it was rather tasteless. The service appeared to be being handled by one person out in the restaurant, and one in the kitchen, so with several tables occupied things got extremely busy for just one person to handle. So, on the whole we are quite pleased with the place, but based on that experience we will avoid stopping in any time after the dinner rush.

At the Killingsworth location we had a horrible experience. My spouse ordered an omlete #1, add ham. what arrived was a #2, when we asked why she wrote #2 on the ticket she said that she verified it as a #2, not knowing the menu it was agreed to that was what we ordered. We complained to the staff and they didnt care, not their table. When we went to pay, we complained to the cashier, they said that they were busy weekends and we should have come on a less busy day.during the week if we wanted better service. Such rude staff. The portions looked large enough, but that is due the small plates used. Drink refills were a long time arriving, food getting cold waiting. We had a Living Social certificate for $30, barely used $17. but was not impressed enough to give them any more of my time or business.

We were forgotten. Not saying this is the norm, but it did happen to us, when they took notice of us staring at scone crumbs wondering when someone might take our order, they apologized profusely offering to pay for our drinks. We we did make our choices it was apparent, this is a tough place to get much meat. So, good news for vegetarians lost of meatless choices and the ability to sub tofu at any point. And we omnivores arent out in the cold, they make an attempt to bring us meat. It is just that attempt is more feeble than most any other breakfast outlet. We went there as a result of trying to avoid the lines of most breakfast joints in this city on a Sunday. But, there may have been a reason we could get seated so quickly.

I took my family to eat at the Denver Ave. location. We arrived 20 minutes before closing and we were met with sighs of grief from the blond waitress. We almost left but decided to stay and try to not linger. Then the busboy shows up at our table and asks us with raised eyebrows... "You know we close soon?" Ive worked in restaurants for years and I know the vibe when business is dead and its a beautiful day outside... I get it. But the bad attitude my family was shown that day was straight bullshit. So we left.

Food was terrible. Service very slow. Vegetables undercooked, flattest buttermilk pancake Ive ever seen in a breakfast place and they were out of ice. This used to be an incredible place for breakfast and lunch. Good reliable food. Not anymore. We used to come here several times a month, but around a year ago the food started getting consistently bad. So we stopped. Tried one more time today, even worse than a year ago. There are so many better options in the neighborhood.

I love the menu options, as I cannot tolerate eggs, and this place always has tofu ready as an option for their egg dishes. The wait staff is always great, and the prices are reasonable. It simply needs some TLC. We sat in a booth that looked like a scratching post for tigers (so did the others we saw). The floor really needs replacing, and paint has chipped off the walls. Even though I feel sure it was clean, the poor condition made it feel grimy.

The wait staff was very friendly and we were well taken care of. However this does not make up for the fact that the food was terrible. Literally nothing we ordered had any flavor to it. The biscuits and gravy didnt even have pepper. The garden scramble was runny and the potatoes were exceptionally bland and required a generous dosage of hot sauce to become edible. We definitely arent going there again.

Stopped here for Breakfast. Had 2 eggs, potatoes, bacon and a vanilla butter Scone? What I got was old looking overdone bacon. A dry biscuit (Scone) Ive eaten scones all over the country and never have they looked like a biscuit? The service was slow. I had to keep asking for more coffee. The coffee and potatoes were great. But not worth $12

I used to come here with my daughter fairly regularly, then it seemed we werent there. Long waits with empty coffee cups. Long waits to get a bill with empty plates on the table. Long waits standing at the register to pay our bill. If the food wasnt good, then it would be a 1 star.

We had a great time here. We came in with our baby and had an extremely friendly waitress. I ordered the ham Benedict and my husband got pancakes, both were amazing. We didnt feel rushed and everyone we came across was friendly. We will definitely be back!

Definitely a cool place to hang out, but I was not impressed with some of the food. Buckwheat pancakes and real maple suryp: good. Eggs and breakfast potatoes: not so good. Overall...it was okay, but Id probably go somewhere else for breakfast.

Wait staff was very pleasant however the coffee cups were chipped, the food was bland and definitely not worth the price. Sadly as we walked out there were many full plates of food left sitting at empty tables. We shall not be going back.

I visited on a busy Sunday morning. The wait was a little long and it was crowded, but it met my high expectations. The menu was large and had a lot of variety. The service was quick and friendly and the food was delicious.

I have eaten at the Cup and Saucer on Hawthorne more but this one is just as good. Atmosphere, food, and service all have the same feel. Wonderful place for a good breakfast, friendly service, and a nice morning.

Love the breakfasts, especially the pancake of the day. Great coffee. Friendly staff. Good service. Happy relaxed space. Doesnt feel "commercial." Nice variety of art work circulates through.

Crappy service with a frown and terrible seating arrangements. They horribly mismanage any line that forms so good luck going on a busy weekend morning. Also, food is greasy and terrible.

My fave breakfast place in Portland. Lately the service has been a bit spotty, but I like the menu variety that makes both my vegan and non-vegetarian friends and family happy.
