I just got done eating at Delta Cafe and felt like I had to share my negative experience. First off it wasnt to busy and we were seated right away. The service was ok at first and drinks and food orders were fairly prompt. However once we got our food my experience quickly declined. I ordered the fried chicken and my girlfriend got the cat fish sandwich. The sandwich was good and the side dishes were also pretty tasty. However, the fried chicken was completely undercooked. The breast piece was large but still very pink in the middle. After noticing how pink it was inside I decided to try the drumstick. This is where things got bad as soon as I bit down blood start dripping out of the chicken. At this point I decide to let the server know. she was polite and offered to bring more chicken and also gave us a free side dish. If this was the end of the story I probably wouldnt bother writing this review. After dropping off the side dish the I noticed at least five more tables had been served the fried chicken dish without so much as a glance toward our table. The server eventually checked back in on us and brought another complementary side. Again nice gesture but I really just wanted my meal so i could eat a little bit of it and head home. Finally after waiting about forty minutes total, the server let us know the chicken was about done and offered a piece of cake and asked if we wanted the chicken to go, which at this point sounded better. Well we just got home and opened the box of food we had boxed up only to discover only one rather small piece of chicken in the box when the meal I ordered was for two pieces. This is what made me decide to write this review, I am very understanding and can only think of sending food back to the kitchen a handful of times. And I also am pretty forgiving and understand mistakes happen so I dont get to upset when the wrong order comes out or anything as long as an effort is made to correct the mistake. However, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I can recall due to the the slow correction of the mistake and not even fully replacing the meal. Given my experience tonight I would just warn anyone who eats at Delta to check their food before eating it and make sure you get the correct food if ordering to go, as this experience left me feeling short changed and disappointed.

I would like to start off by saying the overall experience here was great. The waitress, Abigail had great customer service, they played a variety of music, and the drinks were great. I ordered the jambalaya with red beans and rice. my boyfriend ordered the half rack of ribs with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. We also order the catfish bites as our appetizer. So the catfish bites were well seasoned and the tartar sauce was so good I could eat it by itself. The jambalaya had nice chunks of chicken and shrimp, but literally no seasoning. The waitress was so great she switched it out for another order of the catfish bites, and said they had a new cook. My boyfriends ribs were more than perfect, a little spendy for the ribs ($20) but it comes with two sides and he left full and happy. His beans and his mashed potatoes were also on the bland side, but a little salt and pepper was enough to fix them. Overall we loved it, and we will definitely be back, Im going to try the jambalaya one more time when a more experienced cook is there, because it just looked so good.

What happened to this place? I used to love this restaurant and eat there a few times a month. I hadnt been there in a few weeks and they managed to ruin the food. The service used to be great and friendly but, my last trip they changed all the staff and they were totally unorganized and poorly trained. Nobody seemed to know what tables they were serving. To make matters worse we had to change our orders twice because they ran out of half the menu; and if that wasnt enough it took 20 minutes to tell us they were not able to serve up what I had first ordered. Just to break down my last trip to what used to be my favorite local restaurant. I was there an hour before I got served some food that was edible at best (the grits were not edible) and I will not be returning. This makes me sad, I used to love that simple Southern cooking style that has been lost. The only good news is they still make good drinks.

Im not sure which Delta this place is trying to emulate, but it shor aint the Mississippi Delta. Why on earth anyone would open a restaurant with a particular cuisine targeted, yet have no idea how to properly cook said cuisine is beyond me. The hushpuppies were the size of golf balls and just as tender. The chicken fried steak was a horrible cut of meat covered with an even more horrible brown-tinged gravy. Chicken fried steak is covered with white cream gravy, folks! Mix white flour, chicken stock, garlic, salt and pepper and heat until thick. This was just totally unacceptable. The decor, was early Indian restaurant meets Goodwill. Even the music didnt fit. Do not waste your time, gas and energy on this sad excuse for a yankee take on southern food.

I am not a southern food connoisseur, but i really enjoyed the food here and i love the decor! but our waiter was pretty rude, he had some issue from the start because we asked if they took cards "cash and cheque like it says in the menu" ok, but kinda unnecessary, and the rest of meal continued like that. I dont expect over the top friendliness but at least one smile and not making us feel like we had done something to deeply offend him would have been nice. It made our whole group really uncomfortable. When we paid he walked off shaking his head and sighing i can only presume at the average tip we left.... sorry did you think rude service deserved a particularly good tip?! you know who you are pine tree tattoo guy!! Pity the food was so good.

I live in this neighborhood and have been going to this restaurant for many years up until two weeks ago, the food was horrible and their idea of brisket was a pressure cooked steak cut the wrong way and slathered in runny bbq sauce. One waitress agreed it was nowhere near what it was supposed to be, and another waitress claimed to have never heard that complaint before. The drinks were average and the service miserable, and it only took a few minutes on the computer to find out they sold the restaurant sometime mid December and fired the entire staff, most of this had been removed from their Facebook page as are all the complaints. There is one guarantee, you WILL regret eating here,

Went for a ladies afternoon lunch with 6 friends. Food took forever to come, waitress mixed up 6 of 7 orders, food was ehhhhh, so-so. Waitress refused to separate the check although we were clearly all paying for ourselves and asked her to, the cafe automatically added 20% gratuity without notice and young waitress with an attitude just replied with smart, rude comments about her vast experience (she was like 21 yrs old) and how she deserved the tip. On our way out I saw the cook grabbing food with bare hands to pat down on the plates, wipe them on his apron, then smoosh the next plates food. Nope. Not going back. Is there less than 1 star?
